This
historic
gurdwara
in
Southall
truly
holds
a
special
place
in
the
Sikh
community.
Established
in
1911,
it
effortlessly
combines
nostalgia
and
a
strong
sense
of
connection.
The
presence
of
Sikhs
from
Kenya
adds
to
the
vibrant
community
spirit
that
still
thrives
today.
The
beautifully
painted
art
on
the
walls
serves
as
a
captivating
educational
resource,
showcasing
the
rich
history
of
Sikhism.
The
fact
that
these
artworks
are
well-maintained
is
refreshing,
as
it
preserves
their
beauty
and
significance.
For
those
who
visited
this
gurdwara
as
children,
stepping
inside
is
like
taking
a
trip
down
memory
lane.
The
preservation
and
maintenance
efforts
have
successfully
kept
the
essence
intact,
providing
a
wonderful
experience.
The
langar
remains
simple
and
delicious.
Sitting
upstairs,
closing
your
eyes,
and
reflecting
on
everything
you're
proud,
thankful,
and
excited
for,
brings
a
profound
sense
of
peace
and
satisfaction.
In
2023,
the
convenience
of
making
donations
via
card,
and
the
option
to
add
Gift
Aid,
is
a
welcome
addition.
It
demonstrates
that
the
gurdwara
is
adapting
to
modern
times
while
upholding
cherished
traditions
of
sewa.
Parking
is
possible
if
you
can
make
the
permit
parking
restrictions
work
to
your
advantage.
On
days
where
there
are
functions,
extra
parking
is
available
at
the
school
at
the
end
of
the
road
which
makes
it
very
convenient
given
that
it
is
located
in
the
middle
of
a
residential
road
and
off
the
busiest
road
in
Southall.
I
sincerely
hope
that
the
community
here
continues
to
thrive
and
evolve,
while
safeguarding
its
unique
heritage.
