We didn’t camp here but went for the walking on Monday 4th September. Easy to find with sat nav and we found a parking spot on site (free parking). Had a little wander about when we got there, looked at the people fishing at the ponds and saw lots of ducks. Returned to the cafe at the lake about 12:00 and ordered some food and drinks (1 cheeseburger and 1 blue burger, a shandy and a cider) the food was DELICIOUS and the portions are generous. Service was quick and staff were all friendly. After lunch we had a walk through the forest through to the village and back to the car. Really lovely day and will definitely return :)

Family Field Fantastic! Sumners Pond is always a fantastic place to camp, fish and run. The experience has been enhanced by their newly developed family field. As a group we enjoy one weekend a year under canvas and this year was the best by far. The facilities were superb, a stones throw from the match lake for fishing and plenty of space for the kids to play. The large fire pit provided great warmth at night and allowed us all to enjoy the two beautiful evenings. The staff were brilliant with special mention to Maddie and Debbie on reception. We're already discussing dates for next year as to not lose out and would thoroughly recommend upgrading your stay to the family field if you camp in a group. Thank you to all at Sumners Pond for a great mini break.

Lovely spot. Great woodland walks. Lots of open space around the lakes. Homely, well equipped campsite that is just right for all the family. Well kept and spaced pitches. Good restaurant and bar. A really pleasant place to stay. Friendly and helpful staff.

Our family have just stayed here for a week, in the safari tent (swallows hide) 🏕 on numerous occasions. Everything good and friendly staff, lovely clean shower/toilet block. But the tent definitely needs some tlc, mould on the outsides of the tent and a hole. Outside solar lights not working when dark one lying down (broken). Found the saucepans and frying pans a little worn so could do with new ones. Kettle too small. Outside decking worn and with grease stains, same with the outside garden furniture. Little disappointed with the flower bed with dead flowers as not been attended to for a while. And with now you having a new safari tent it puts a downer on this one. Especially with the price. Apart from everything, it was a lovely stay, kids enjoyed themselves, beautiful weather. Definitely will be back again. Thankyou. 😊

A two night stay felt like a whole week I was so relaxed! We booked Old George Shepherds Hut which was so cozy and the veranda over the lake meant we had a lovely place to sit and relax. My husband loved the fishing & the food in the cafe was amazing (only disappointed with the fish and chip van as no vegetarian option & cafe shut Saturday night) and the local pub is fabulous too! We loved our stay so much we came home and booked the next one! Highly recommend Sumners Ponds

Been visiting this site for a few years now and no what to expect. Not comparing to any other sites but there is much to be improved such as communication from the booking office… This is also the only site we’ve visited for the money that does not have Wi-Fi other than the very expensive bar/restaurant. The toilet block is also very tired (bluebell field) and the showers flood. the only reason I’m leaving a review is that anyone looking to visit must be aware that much of the land surrounding has been sold for housing development and appears to be having a substantial impact on the site visitors for example the noise from building machinery & excavators digging (we didn’t experience this as it was a weekend - but have been told from people that have been staying longer). It’s looking very un-certain for the future of this site as will no longer be surrounded by countryside and tranquility but tall buildings and a huge increase in traffic through such a small village. I’ve also learnt that this work will continue for around 5 years! Previous visits we have had power cuts that have lasted days… we will survive! But to arrive this past weekend to find all the taps have little to no water pressure! Trying to figure out the problem I found every tap including the chemical toilet disposal had these pressure valves fitted to restrict the flow to an near unusable state! I confronted a member of staff to ask why the site have installed water saving devices that first seemed for no other reason to deter people using as much water he explained the land owner sold the site for building to a developer and that developer has imposed a restriction on the water consumption across the entire site so if you’re in a motorhome or caravan and require water… take a book and get in line as 40ltrs will take you about the same time as to boil a kettle and make & drink a cup of tea! At no point was this mentioned to us on booking… again poor communication! For those on a service pitch… save your money because the taps won’t supply your unit with enough pressure to work either! We have had previous poor experiences here but not for any fault of the site, however they seem to favour campers with dogs to be all together so the the little dogs barking at everything that moves is a nuisance. A real shame and I do fear of a bleak future for this site. Again, I wouldn’t have left a bad review usually- just not return but this may well be the last visit for us.

Delightful place to visit and stay at. Very well maintained. Friendly, professional and welcoming staff. Even if you do not fish, a good place to come to. Cafe by the Lake serves tasty food and beverages for eat in or take away. And their branded beer is most excellent! Can recommend the camping pod and Shepherd's hut. Looking forward to visiting again.

A fantastic campsite! We received a warm welcome from the friendly site warden (and her doggo!) who told us everything we'd need for an easy, relaxing stay. The shower/toilet blocks are spotlessly clean, and heated! Very appreciated in winter. Our pitch was easy to find, clean and private enough that we didn't feel overlooked. All campervan facilities i.e. water, waste disposal are easy to find and use. Very peaceful and a lovely place to walk around all the lakes and explore! Super dog friendly too. Highly recommend.

Great site for camping our first time here and would return again. They have 2 secure areas that you can let just your dog's run free off the lead without them escaping. £5 for 25 minutes 3 lakes for fishing altho not my thing but they look really great

Beautiful location with 5 lakes, loads of camping and caravan and camper space. Staff couldn't be more helpful the whole place is clean and very well laid out. Nice coffee shop/restaurant with shopping for food and fishing supplies.

We took our caravan and stayed for 4 nights. It's a beautiful place to be. The site is very well maintained, the shower and toilet facilities are spotless and the staff are helpful and friendly. We ate breakfast at the cafe. The food was excellent. I'll be going back again soon.

This is the place to go to totally unwind. I stayed in Old George ( shepherds hut) it was lovely. Pristine bedding, very comfy bed, The log fire came with logs, kindling, matches, everything you need. The cafe does the most amazing breakfast. The facilities for showering etc are 5 star, scrupulously clean and so well thought out. I have been twice now and will definitely be back.

We are currently staying here in Lily Lodge. It’s the nicest, most well equipped lodge we’ve ever stayed in. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. The dogs absolutely love the Dog Meadow and Dog Wood, such big spaces with plenty for them to explore off the lead. We would certainly recommend to anyone and we will definitely be returning. The husband has caught a few bream, just waiting for the carps to bite, fingers crossed 🤞🏻 he catches a carp! Sumners is our new favorite place.

I love this place, the cafe is great food, some is a little pricy but hey everything is rising. The staff are friendly and polite, the views are beautiful. I haven't fished here but spoke to people doing this there, and it seems a m8xed review on the fishing, but I will try it for sure. Walking around the campsite looks very clean and has electric points. The cabins look great and probably how I would stay and fish if honest. The walk around is beautiful, and I'll will keep going back for walks as well as I really enjoyed walking around for a couple of hours, and the dog loved the walk (on the lead only are the rules). Highly reccomend people to visit, get fresh air and a decent coffee.

A nice campsite, fishing was good and the tackle shop is pretty well stocked. The cafe by the lake is a great place for a coffee but opening times are limited. The staff were pleasant and always very helpful.

Sumner Ponds is a lovely low-key site, ideal for families, couples or fishing. We have young children, so was great to get to Worthing beach, Tilgate Park and Southwater Park fairly easily. There are lots of lovely walks around the site, the fishing lakes are obviously a draw for many and the cafe/bar is also useful, though they generally stop serving food at 3pm, so the pub up the road is an option for later eaters. We stayed in Bluebell Park, where the shower block is starting to show its age, though fortunately they are cleaned a few times a day and are still adequate. I believe the other shower block in Ribbon Park is newer. There is a play area with swings & slide wooden structure for younger children. A site map can be downloaded, so you can see which pitches have hardstanding or grass. We had a good time and are likely to return annually for a long weekend.

We had a great experience, I’m in awe of how amazing this place is. Exceptionally good facilities. The cafe is great!! Would love to comeback. There’s plenty of fish to catch and ponds to choose from.

We visited the onsite cafe. The food was amazing we had a full English breakfast. We didn't wait long for the food to come and I would say it was reasonably priced for freshly made food. There is also a selection of cakes, pastries and drinks on offer. We sat outside watching everyone fishing on the lake, however there is lovely seating inside too! I took my 1.5 year old and she loved seeing the ducks on the lake. Highly recommend!!

We have had such a lovely week, beautiful clean well kept campsite, the lady in reception was friendly and very helpful, the cafe was really nice the cakes are lovely. We would definitely recommend it’s peaceful, quiet, there is a shop a 10 minute walk away and a pub next door to the shop. Horsham is lovely place to visit.

We have been coming here with a large group of friends for a few years now and always have a fantastic time, with the latest being no exception. We stayed in Swallows Hide (Safari Tent) last weekend and it was tremendous. Cosy, with ample room for 2 adults and a baby, plus due to the weather being against us, a large group of friends took cover from the rain. Everything you would need for a long weekend, although if there was one thing I would change would be a proper sofa instead of timber built with cushions…. Absolutely fine for us but some people may find it uncomfortable. Fishing is always varied at Sumners. The fishing from the decking is a real treat, however the lake takes a lot pressure from this corner so the carp are hard to trip up. We all caught and experienced anglers will enjoy the challenge. The bottom is very silty so go prepared. Lots of options with the other lakes, with Betty’s being our favourite. The facilities around the site are awesome and all the staff are very friendly and helpful. I recommend Sumners Ponds to everyone.

Had a great time here. Disabled friendly easy parking and platforms. Nice choice of lakes to fish and nice shop and helpful and friendly staff did not use accommodation or cafe so can't comment. Great place be back soon.

A peaceful haven, quiet and tranquil even in the café. Here there is a super choice of pastries and cakes for the mid morning snack...or a very substantial full English for the late riser. Good choice of drinks too. All in all...a place deserving of more visits.

We went there as a group of boys for a weekend camping trip. It is a very good campsite with various facilities including shower, fridge, laundry and sinks in addition to good toilets and dedicated drinking water tap. It also has an onsite cafe with few food options. We had out own tent but they also have private cabins and cottages which probably also have kitchen etc. It has multiple ponds where you can do fishing. So this place can be an excellent weekend getaway for friends and families alike. No campfires allowed here though.

Had an awesome time! The maps are a little desieving to make it look too far, and pleasently surprise with a nice little walk through woodlands between the lakes. We had Pod 6 which directly faces the sun. There's a floating island in front which does limit a long cast, with fewer people with rods out in December I wish we'd have gone for the other pod....however the reviews say the swim on Pod 6 is better in summer. Very well stocked shop at online prices. And the cafe providing hot food went down a treat! Bring your own food for cooking, there's a local shop 3mins walk away with Waitrose pricing and a separate review to be done on that as not nice people working there....this does not reflect back on Sumners where everyone was super nice and 'Mouse' the cat is correctly in charge of hospitality.

Clean warm toilets and showers. Friendly staff. Lovely walks in the woods and around the ponds. Great location. Not too busy but the rain may have deterred some! Great cafe/restaurant too overlooking the main lake.

Brilliant match lake, set in stunning grounds, well maintained and caught in first 20 minutes. Only suggestion is that they keep their toilets a bit cleaner please!! But will definitely visit again

Just come back from a lovely little mini break. We opted for a pod. We are lucky enough to have proper camp beds. If you go for this option make sure you have something comfy. The showers are immaculate. It was the bit i was most worried about. But they were just so clean and pleasant. I would say that although the hair dryers there are a really expensive brand. They have no power at all. Ladies if you have long hair.. Take a hair dryer. Definitely recommend we will be booking again very soon.

Ideal if you enjoy walking from your doorstep. Clean shower block and toilets Dog friendly as you would get at a campsite. Quickly into Horsham if you need a shop or eat out

Lovely campsite. It's big so lots of places to explore walking or cycling. I don't fish but it's clearly a good spot for it and there are 4 lakes. Nice restaurant on site if you don't fancy bbq every day, and the village pub is only 5 minutes walk. What more do you need?

  • 5/5 simon g. 2 years ago on Google
Very good facilities, a couple of smart and clean toilet and shower blocks. Cafe does great food with vegan options and also a bar. Local shop for the essentials and a pub. Lots of nearby walks and places to explore. Lovely setting.

Great place for a retreat from the world, and if you still need to be connected, they have excellent WiFi, Breakfast in the cafe by the lake is hard to beat, and is included in your booking. Wood burners are easy to light and produce more heat than you'll ever need, staff are super friendly, shower and roilet block is clean heated and puts most places I've stayed at to shame. And to top it off my last stay in the shepherd's hut had the added and very welcome Sumner pond cat, Mouse, who is so friendly and will happily keep you company for as long as you like...Best money spent for the quiet and relaxing times we all need

Fantastic from start to finish. Staff were so friendly from the reception staff to the cafe staff, all had a smile and were so helpful .Peaceful, beautiful site. Showers spotless. Had burger on-site which was excellent. Will def return soon.

Lovely site with good sized pitches. Toilet blocks lovely and very clean. Bluebell is mainly for families, we booked on ribbon as its quieter. Lovely cafe but my only complaint is it doesn't sell evening meals any longer and it closes at 9pm. I understood it during covid but they haven't re opened fully.

Excellent facilities, friendly staff, tasty food and overall good value for money. We stayed in a lakeside pod and I enjoyed the fishing during the day (at a reasonable price) and the pod was spacious. Advice - bring an air bed and extension lead (to give you more plugs) and do not leave any food outside as there can be pests (AS TO BE EXPECTED IN ANY OUTDOOR ENVIRONMENT). The showers and toilet facilities are exceptional and the staff are friendly, engaging and helpful! Thank you!

What a great place for kids, adults and people that like their fishing. We camped and found it a brilliant stay. Good facilities, tranquil, friendly and good fishing with 5 lakes to choose from. Lovely walks and a decent restaurant / cafe / bar on site and a beautiful little country pub on its door step too. 10000% going back again !! Keep up the good work Sumner crew.

A Very nice place to go for camping. My daughter and her little family go there every summer. It has nice facilities. Ive seen the camping spots and fishing. I enjoy the restaurant, they have nice meals and lovely atmosphere sitting overlooking the lake and having a meal.

When rating this site you have to consider your reasons for booking it on the first place. Reasonable for fishing as a number of lakes some suited to serious anglers. Have visited Sumners over a period of 20 yrs. It used to be quiet and a real getaway from it all place but now much more commercialised. In turn however this means better facilities such as clean modern showers, laundry room etc. Nice little cafe but restricted opening hours. Has a children's playground but not much for teens unless they like walking. Nice countryside. OK for short 2 or 3 nighters but couldn't stay longer. As I said it's all about expectations. Nice site that can get busy and not much to do but pleasant surroundings and good for a quick break.

Beautiful scenery, calm and quiet, and excellent service. Will be back very soon! Special shout out to Charlotte who was fantastic - printed us off walking routes, made several great recommendations for food and drink in the area and was all smiles every time we spoke. Big thanks from maisy and Lewis in Bathsheba
