It's been 4 months before posting this so that you don't remember me so yeah, this was not a recent conversation. Nothing against Decathlon or the staff other than the one I'm mentioning. Very cool store and lovely staff. However, Jonathan, what a narcissistic condescending little person you are. I even put on a dumb front to see how deep you would go and just to squeeze as much information out of you for this review to save others the trouble. Honestly I'd rather die than go through a conversation with you again. Decathlon, how can you hire someone as a workshop technician that has no technical qualifications whatsoever? I don't think they even have their GCSEs by the sounds of it. I couldn't care less that they have 15 years of experience or whatever they said as I had zoned out at that point. Clearly that experience doesn't translate as who on earth in the bike industry recommends using spray lubricant on the cassette and then back pedalling in order to lube the chain? I've never wanted to hit my head off something so badly in frustration! I wouldn't let you near the same postcode as my bike based off that comment. You also don't need an answer for everything either. Half your answers are rubbish anyway. You don't have to always be right. You are allowed to be wrong but that starts with you accepting that you aren't superior to everyone first because you definitely are not. Take on board what others say as it may be useful someday and it definitely is most certainly better than the rubbish you would try and force upon your victim, dictator style. It's weird how you try and justify your answer with more rubbish when you could just say you don't know. It's not a weakness being able to say that you don't know, more a strength if anything. I hope something severe happens to you someday that humbles you because everyone can achieve greatness but not with your current attitude. You're quite rude to your colleagues too. The only reason I ended up speaking with you is because you barged in and commendeered my conversation with your colleague and I. I decided to stay a little longer "browsing" and I saw you do it multiple times that day to other colleagues too. Just leave them be for god's sake, you literally drop what you're doing to intervene. They seemed much more capable and could actually hold an interesting conversation rather than it being just you blabbing away, interrupting when I finally tried to speak and then going on for another 10 minutes before I could get a word in. Get a grip, stop being so condescending and narcissistic. It's disgusting.

I took my son in to buy a football kit. Mabel was so patient and helpful finding the perfect fit and guiding us with our choices. She also took us down to the tills and ordered the item that was not in stock. 10 out of 10 for customer service and selection. All in all an amazing customer experience. Thank you.

Bought a tent online which due to issues above the store didn't come in. Needed the tent yesterday. Went into store today and manager could not have done more to help me out. She rang all over to find a solution. Not convinced with using the decathlon app. Not convinced with decathlons online and phone customer support. But can't fault the manager and staff at all, they were kind,polite and determined to get a solution. Thankyou.

Had to go a pick up a click and collect order. But also mine a top for my son that wasn't on showing stock on there website. From entering the store to find the top and the right size all staff we super polite and helpful. They also had my click and collect as I exited the store. 5*****

The range of available sports kit here can't be matched by other, similarly priced competitors (e.g. Sp**ts D****t 🤮) The quality varies depending on the product but this is reflected in pricing and it's a good place to buy kit when you're trying to get started in a particular new hobby but not yet ready to invest in top-end specialist equipment. Please note, sizing runs a bit small in the clothing. As for the Team Valley shop, the staff are friendly and have been very helpful to me when I had ordered something click and collect that needed to be exchanged. Someone helped me with a refund really quickly and provided advice on what to do next too.

This review would be better if Gateshead's decathlon management were trained properly and didn't see other people's disabilities as a personal affront to them. It'll be better when the anti-disability Mr Napoleon complex isn't at the helm but until then GoOutdoors and Sports Direct are next door and stock better quality products minus the bad attitude

Plenty of staff around but nobody offering help. I don't want to be chased around the shop but equally a smile and a greeting would be something! The till setup is very odd but eventually the guy who actually addressed me and got my click and collect order was friendly hence the three stars. I had a little look around too but honestly the shop didn't feel organised and just not the most pleasant of shopping experiences 🤷🏻‍♀️

Went to for ski clothing & got loads of great advice from Liam. Very helpful & nothing was too much trouble.

Was helped by Liam and Sueli, they were very helpful and gave good advice for buying skiing equipment.

I recently bought a pair of hiking shoes and outdoor jacket for my daughter. Liana helped us find the perfect fit and was very patient with us showing us all the options available. She also recommended a great pair of gloves for my son which he loves. Great service at this store!

Beautiful shop, friendly and knowledgeable staff, much bigger and better stocked than the shop in my home town in Italy. They understood immediately what I needed!

Ordered a judo outfit, the information about size's was great and easy to use to get the correct size. There was different delivery options I chose tracked delivery which was the quicker option. The delivery was great, using DPD helped keep track of the parcel and knew when it would arrive

Excellent work by Chris fixing my bike. Particularly in aligning my wheels which had become buckled following a collision.

Been to decathlon to get bike fixed and talked to a lovely lad called John the bike macanic he was super helpful and friendly and give me help and advice where halfolds didn't I will definitely book me bije in again and advise anyone else to do the same I don't know how john the bike man is not manager ime shur in the future he will be

Probably the last place on the high street (or out of town retail park) where you can credibly buy a shuttlecock, and get a choice of quality. Cricket, tennis, rugby, archery, swimming and darts all get a look on alongside the big hitters like football and running. Built mainly on in-house brands using the pan European buying power of the French based parent company, Decathlon is a great sports shop. Their bike brand wins awards and the own brand gear is decently made and good value for money. Ideal for fast growing kids and family fun, especially the camping and watersports ranges. Usually offering a good choice of price from beginners to advanced, Decathlon does the job well and without making you feel like you've been ripped off by another global brand with a big advertising budget.

All of the items we had were priced up wrong. When we got home, which is quite a distance away, we realised that we had been over charged. Very disappointed. Could it be something to do with their odd self service tills that ask you only to drop the items into the till area or are they just labelled up wrong on the shelves. Either way, we won't be shopping there again and would advise anyone against it. Had a much better experience and service at New balance at Dalton park.

Went to buy an Air Tent. Wouldn't take my money as card only. So I went to Go Outdoors. They had way more staff who were very helpful. I will NEVER go to a Decathlon store again.

I needed a repair on my bike and "Jon" in the bike dept did a fantastic job, very quickly and with no fuss. Highly professional service. Thanks.

Took ebike in, they fixed part of what I asked but caused damage to my bike and then attempted to deny it. Keep saying they showed damage that they never. They didn't look at my damaged battery or know it was damaged until I collected my bike and told them. Yes they installed the cable I asked but did no service on the bike. Snapped protective casings on a release lever and damaged the bike's motor casings on the opposite side they worked on. Yet still they lie and are making up a story about how it was pointed out when I took the bike in. Only saving grace is I had to take pictures of my bike beforehand for technician online and you can see the parts were not damaged

First time in Decathlon in Team Valley Gateshead. Great choice and very good prices got football boots there £20 cheaper than at Sports Direct. Friendly helpful staff. Big, clean and roomy store.

Buying the right bike after twenty odd years felt a bit daunting, but the staff.at Decathlon, Team Valley were excellent, especially Jon. I'm really impressed with both the store and my new Riverside bike. Highly recommended, thanks guys!👍

Never been to Decathlon before until today. Despite my love of cycling and using their decathlon branded bikes and btwin branded bikes for years that have been handed to me by friends and family. I have never been to their shops! The bikes are amazing value, and last not like the horror bikes from other shops for similar budgets. I went to buy a new wheel for my old commuter bike and was served by John. Top fella he took his time to help me with my query and was knowledgable and helpful. As I went to browse he was speaking to other customers again whilst checking over the bikes he was repairing in the mechanics station and giving good advice. I will definitely be using decathlon in the future, its not flooded with tat like certain sports shops (you know the ones!!) Great value and good quality, excellent human customer service. While I think many of the products at Dcathlon are great and also great value, we've now got a faulty product. I've contacted the online business, "not them as it was purchased in store". Can I get someone at the Gateshead store to answer the phone? Never. The complete failure to make contact has make me think again about further purchases. Your frustrated Update - I must say that having posted this negative review Decathlon were straight on the case with an email and subsequent phone call from the Gateshead store to say they were having issues with their phone line - if only someone would have said this I could have understood. Suffice to say my issue is now resolved to by complete satisfaction. Well done Decathlon – award you 5 stars now!
