Overrated college.During the pandemic they were not well prepared at all unlike other colleges who were well prepared. Teachers only provided students with power point presentations for students to learn by themselves, not even live lessons on ms teams until later in the year. And YouTube videos for maths lessons? Support given to 2nd years was very minimal but Runshaw college seems to only care about their reputation. Too much pressure on students. Their grade boundaries are too high, a 95% for an for A grade? Is this some kind of joke? Why are they doing this when these Children learned almost everything by themselves? As a parent I witnessed my daughter in her breakdowns. It was all very damaging for a childā€™s mental health. Teacher Assessed Grading wasnā€™t done smartly at all either. Wouldnā€™t recommend this college at all.

If you are thinking of going to Runshaw and grades isn't the only thing you care about don't go find somewhere good the time table is messed up you have 3 or 4 lessons in a row without breaks all 70 minutes long lunch times are different for people free periods are times where all your other friends are in lessons and you walk around doing nothing cause you did your homework at home. The teachers are okay but some are really dull and don't want to be there. The whole place is filled with emos. The food is overpriced, your lunch break is 50 minutes and it takes at least 40 minutes to get served with food so you have 10 minutes to eat then back to lessons there are no other breaks. Most of the people in my experience don't like the college and wish they didn't go there. Overall if you want to be happy there and grades isn't the only thing on your mind I don't recomend going there at all. You don't have to take this advice but this has been my experience at runshaw but I would never recommend this college to anyone

DO NOT COME HERE IF YOU NEED MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORT. The counselling is basic and counsellors have limited knowledge on mental health issues. I found myself spending the 50 minutes of my session educating the counsellor. As an autistic student i need extra support and despite me having a support plan put in place, Teachers donā€™t take the time to read it and get it wrong frequently. The head of my studies has also got this wrong and seems to be a lot more concerned about the overall figures of the college than student well-being. I have multiple friends at the college who have also experienced this treatment. The college seem to express concern then give multiple warnings and threaten to kick out disabled and mentally ill students when their symptoms show. There needs to be a lot more teaching given to staff (including head of studies) covering disabilities and mental conditions as there seems to be a very archaic understanding of these issues. They will threaten you when you show symptoms and accuse you of being a risk to yourself or others. Accusing autistic students of ā€œnot being fitā€ to study at college when they need extra time away from class due to issues like sensory overload. Donā€™t brand yourself as an inclusive college when this is what students with extra needs face. Donā€™t get me wrong I have some amazing tutors and have received some good support from the study support department of college. However, what use is this when my place at college is being threatened over things I cannot control. I know iā€™m not the only student that has experienced this either.

If you have mental health needs , do not go to this college. The way they discriminated against my mental health was awful. The first year I was fine enjoying college and getting good grades. They accused me of being a risk to myself when I wasnā€™t. Which therefore, they kicked me out for it. Saying they ā€œcouldnā€™t mitigate my riskā€ honestly itā€™s a disgrace. Same goes for disabilities or health needs , do not come here , because I have no doubt about it that it will happen again. Ironic isnā€™t it, kicking me out for my mental health , on world mental health day! Awful.

Runshaw College is a place where results are the only thing that matters. I did fine with two of my A-Levels but I struggled a lot with Maths. I attended every single support session, every single study day and did every single homework. I was improving but not fast enough for this college. I was being barraged with warnings and threats that if I didnā€™t improve my ā€œeffortā€ soon I risk losing my place at Runshaw. I got phone calls home about how poor my effort was in maths, I got letters, warnings and was told that my effort required significant improvement on every single report. It was a completely draining experience considering I was doing 3 extra maths lessons in college a week, had an external tutor and was juggling 2 other intense A-Level subjects. Personal Tutor sessions were simply another opportunity to go over my seemingly terrible effort in maths. It was at the point where I was doing so much work with maths, it was starting to impact my other subjects. I felt totally cornered by the risk of receiving enough warnings to lose my place at the college weeks before the A-Level exams. To put it simply, my grade was not where I wanted it to be in maths but that was not through a lack of trying. This place offers no recognition of that fact and will hound you until you drop out. It is in a very nice area and the college itself is generally a nice place. God help you if you wish to drive a car there though but thatā€™s a whole new topic. I can imagine Runshaw is a great place to go if you are fantastic across the board but god help you if you are not, they will make your life a misery.

My daughter attended this college September 2019 and as we all know only attended for nearly 6 months, only to be told she could not continue with the next level as they thought she would "struggle". She was completing the PPP course to which they decided to get rid of her after 6 months. Do not attend this college if you want to pursue a career you will only get thrown out. Never recommend this college, they will only knock your son or daughters confidence if they attend this college. Discusting!

Indirect discrimination and zero empathy: If you have autism, severe depression or anything similar to bipolar, you will not be accepted at this college; even as an adult. For the past near enough 8 months, I've been either completely ignored when I've needed help on the course I'm trying to do or patronised. I am struggling with severe depression and it shows with whomever I'm around. However, instead of being helpful, they just tip toe around me, completely ignoring me; demonstrating just how very rude and uneducated they are. I'm persevering with the subject that I'm trying to study because it's giving me something productive to focus on. But instead, just when I'm starting to feel more confident, I'm then shunned all over again and made to feel completely inadequate.

I am going to be very critical of this college as it is after all one of the best colleges on paper in the UK . This is a college for ā€œ most abilitiesā€ to thrive . As long as you actually want to do well and spend enough time learning , then you will do reasonably well . The teachers have a very high skill level , And they really know what theyā€™re doing . I can understand my next point isnā€™t easy to achieve as thereā€™s simply too many students . But these teachers are here because what they do is easy and fun for them . And it is their responsibility to inspire and put the right attention in the right places . It shouldnā€™t be a case of , if the student is uninterested then there is no point ā€œwasting timeā€ appointing them with attention and help . Some students have aspirations and want to do well just as much as the students that find it easier than them . However some students have external factors in their life that doesnā€™t make learning as easy and fun as it should be . By definition, a real teacher (anywhere in this world) is someone who is passionate and ABLE to adapt their teachings and methods to inspire absolutely all pupils / visitors / bystanders that have exposed contact time with them . Hence they should be focusing on the weakest people in class and either asking them the right questions or simply providing more support for them . Itā€™s not easy , but Iā€™m sure as most teachers have been selected as they are the best of the best , then this is something that requires small amount of practise and something that is manageable . Donā€™t waste potential of teens that didnā€™t receive the right help . The person that actually inspired me most in college was my mentor . I would love to bring more attention to her name as she showed that she truly cared about each and every one of her students, but out of respect I will keep her name anonymous. Her effort and attention towards us as pupils was very respectable .I understand to manage these large amount of students , mentors are a clear necessity . And every year this college will improve further and do better because there is enough care towards the mistakes that are made . I want to finish my statement with saying that I have no hate towards any teachers and I think every single one of them are awesome in their own ways . As an experience and learning opportunity I took away the right lessons . But I want to give a challenge to all teachers that are in the college . ā€œIf you could come up with a one minute presentation about the material you love to teach in order to inspire a single person that doesnā€™t want to be in that room , how would you do it ?ā€

Decent college, but worryingly it's focused almost entirely on its reputation as a college, and much less on their actual students. Feels like to them you were just another number and if you underperformed you were a discredit to the college. The "help" provided if you were falling behind in subjects was minimal, and whatever "help" was provided was moreso you were brought in on your Study Day, and just sat in a lesson whilst still no real help was provided. Go here if you're smart, and you can upkeep the reputation of the college, but otherwise don't expect to enjoy it. Best part of the College was absolutely the food. Those Cookies are delicious. Shoutout to any and all of the staff at the food stations too, they hated being there just as much as the students did. Top quality banter.

Hi I'm currently a student at runshaw and it's a great campus the course leader is brilliant I just want to say thanks. However, I getting bullied by other student (witch is older) so I shown evidence and say that the my best friend is getting bullied beacuse I'm ignored the student as my progress mentor said but the student is still doing it and she said the same thing over and over even though it's not helping it's affect me and my best friend. It's a good college as course leader and teacher assistant are very lovely though. Updated: hi again this is my second year the department in the course I'm in are brilliant. However, I'm still having the same issues as last year so it's affected my mental health and I got a learning disability and I had a fall out with someone so the staff at als (which does social skills) had a chat with me and she said that I taught you how to get alone with people and I don't want to go to your pm again like I did with the old one so you have to sort out your self even though I don't know how but she wanted to do it my self this is unbelievable. Also my voice is not Heard as I told the principal about last year and she took me to my progress mentor and he said that in the old progress mentor defence she didn't know what she was doing so they missed lead me for their bullying policy as they didn't report it to safeguarding or head of progress mentor. If you don't want this hassle then don't come here

Do not send your kids to this college. This college allows bullying both physical and verbal, they can't do anything about it, apparently. If they don't see the evidence on their cctv, they call you a liar. When teachers do see evidence of abuse and they report it, nothing is done still. I was told today 'we have followed all of our policies' (in layman's terms... We have done what we need to cover our backsides and we don't care) and 'can't do anything else'. I'm sorry,.... What? So I was told the 4 perpetrators will stay in class and my daughter is welcome to move classes! I don't think so. I've never spoken to such smug a person in all my life as I did today... Supposed to be a performance tutor. I'm glad my daughter is out of here.

Hi I am a current student at runshaw college and Iā€™m not being funny as someone who works in hospitality and catering I donā€™t understand how you can consistently mess up my order. The amount of time Iā€™ve asked for a plain garlic bread and they put cheese on it and this time theyā€™ve said ā€œsorry weā€™ve not got enough time to make you a new oneā€? Itā€™s always the same woman and I am now going into my A Level criminology exam with no food!

In regards to the paramedic access course. This is a very full on course which requires true dedication. However, there are some amazing teachers and a great purpose led support network which really helps. I would recommend this course to anyone and everyone seeking a career in the paramedic field. The great staff and support truly outweigh any difficulties :)

Be careful if you're female and go here. There are male staff, including cleaners and 'security' or whomever looks over cctv/passwords/computers who I believe are a danger to women/girls. It's bad enough that they allow bullying here, but males who are clearly malignant shall we say for want of a more precise word, are allowed to just look at females entirely inappropriately and in a rather intimidating manner. Noted, one of these male cleaners doesn't appear to work here anymore or at least not at the time he did. And I sincerely hope this is a permanent change. (Perhaps someone complained because they experienced similar?) If I am made aware of anymore of this behaviour from the male staff, there will be severe consequences for this college. You need to understand that I record virtually all of my interactions/telephone conversations. And I have several recordings with staff from this college. There's one teamleader in particular who goes by the initials H.B (not the pencil) who is quite vile to say the least, not to mention a bully. This individual not only insulted me over the telephone, but she was very condescending and invalidating when I stressed my concern about someone working here. This is 2022, not 1992. If someone stresses their concern, something that's quite evidently going to have a detrimental effect on their learning, then you must take this seriously. If not then there's going to be a problem.

Runshaw College provides a really good atmosphere and learning environment. In particular, I enjoy going to Runshaw Social Group. The staff are friendly and sympathetic people. I see students getting on well with each other.

Havenā€™t heard from the college for 3 months never got a email was told Iā€™d be doing level 3 this year then called to see when I would get my timetable but they said I havenā€™t been enrolled. Kelly jones should be fired I have had a problem with another teacher previously in level 1 but donā€™t want to mention other than that the rest of the teachers are good and helpful. Peace āœŒļø love xx

My son was discouraged to continue recognising his ADHD. When he failed his course, he was shown the door and support withdrawn. Did email over a week ago as per your request below. Still waiting.
