I must have looked at several hundred engagement rings (online, in windows, over the counter...new, antique, custom... ) and I just didn't like any of them, they seemed a bit boring. I saw in Julian's window the first ring that I truly liked-I was SO pleased to finally be getting somewhere-at last! I went in and he was there himself. I told him I loved the ring I'd seen, and had a good chat with him. I was really impressed with his knowledge, experience and creativity. I would have bought the original ring on the spot, and told him so. But we discussed what I had in mind, and he offered to make a new one based on what we had discussed, and quickly followed up with sketches. He personally selected different stones for me to choose from. He suggested 2 additional changes that really brought the ring to life, and I feel reflect a lifetime and passion in jewellery (I later discovered he runs jewellery courses). My Fiancé was thrilled, definitely well, well, well beyond expectations. If you're looking for something special, or unique, I can recommend Julian without any reservation whatsoever.

I attended classes with Pier Paolo to make an engagement ring. I cannot recommend him and the shop enough. So enthusiastic about my project, he willingly guided me through a world I knew nothing about. I had an absolute blast! Thank you Julian, you have created a fun and exciting space to be creative. Thank you guys!! I will be back, to make the wedding bands at the very least.

I had my engagement ring redesigned by Julian in November 2020 and I am absolutely delighted with it. I had a meeting with Julian about the design (masks and shields were worn) and I was sent a txt when it was ready. The girls on reception were lovely and helpful and when I asked to have the size slightly adjusted, it was done there and then with no extra charge. I would highly recommend Julian.

I can't recommend Julian Stephens highly enough. Having seen a ring in the window before, I rang them up and tried to describe it to see if they still had it. Katie identified the ring, WhatsApped me a pic to make sure, and then sent it out to me kindly removing any reference to it being sent from a jewellers in case my partner (now fiancé!) saw it being delivered. Amazingly helpful, and a wonderful service, not to mention a beautiful range of jewellery.

I found this beautiful jewellers in October last year. It was my sons 16th birthday coming up as well as Christmas. However, not living in the town it was tricky to go back and forth, so I dealt with them via the telephone and text message and they were amazing. The staff are so friendly, so helpful and very polite. The jewellery speaks for itself. It’s strong and beautiful, very well-made. Any issues they deal with it efficiently and effectively. I was recommended this jeweller by a local shop in Portland Rd Hove...they were not able to repair/remake my mother in laws old diamond ring which had broken and they directed me to JS. JS went through all the options carefully and simply. I had another old ring from my mother and in the most beautiful way, they refashioned both rings to come up with a lovely new ring which now sits comfortably and securely on my finger permanently, a reminder of both ladies I love. I have two small diamonds and an emerald from my mother's ring which I'm hopefully going to have made into a piece of jewellery for my son's 21st later this year. I will be returning to JS!

Came here to fix my grandmothers old ring, a really personal job. The ring is old and a bit battered, and was almost entirely split in two. Everyone at J S was proffesional, friendly, and the fix was not only perfect, but took about half the time and money I was expecting it to. They even cleaned it for me, it feels like a new ring! So much love for the whole team here, and I'll never go anywhere else!

Sadly I was very disappointed with the work done on two special bracelets I took to have remodelled. I felt you felt that the job wasn’t that important, there was not much attention to detail or guidance and I won’t be using you again.

I had bought something from Julian Stephens a few years back and I remembered him showing me a box with different gems, and how enthusiastic he was about them. So when I recently needed something special for someone special I headed to his shop. I was looking for an opal pendant (birthstone of Libra) but there was nothing in the showcase, then a voice from the back said "I'm sure we could make something up, when do you need it by?", "The end of the week" I replied. So out steps Julian with a box of beautiful opals... One called out to me.. he suggested an open back so you could see both sides. When I went to pick it up the man who did the work told me what an opal was, that in fact in was ancient fossilized ocean. The work was absolutely beautiful and the gift was very well received. I doubt I could find a better jewellers and to be honest I don't think I'll look for one. The personal service, skill and enthusiasm would be hard to beat.

Stunningly designed, contemporary ring at a reasonable price. I decided to have a ring made for my 26 yr daughter as a special heirloom gift. Having emptied my jewellery box of it's old relics, I visited Julian whom had previously perfectly replicated a lost earring for me. He patiently went through gemstone cuts and sketched designs with me to ascertain exactly what I wanted. He was happy to utilise the stones I had mixed with some new ones -this naturally assisted with the cost. The result was simply gorgeous and my daughter was absolutely thrilled with it (and believe me she is picky)! A great result! Huge thanks Julian.

I brought in my engagement ring and a family wedding ring for resizing. The wedding ring had engraving and needed to be decreased NINE SIZES but somehow they may light work of it, both rings look incredible and I am so happy this place was recommended to me!

I went in a couple weeks ago with a signet ring that needed to be resized 3 or 4 sizes up. After going to a few other places around that refused to do it, Julian Stephens said they could do it and they did not disappoint one bit. Ring fits perfectly and it was ready really fast. Thank you so much!
