I would just like to share my positive experience of finding the perfect Mother of the Bride outfit at Molly Browns in York. I was visiting York from Edinburgh and popped in to Molly Browns to get some ideas to wear at my daughter's wedding last month as I was informed that they had a wide choice of outfits in store. I was warmly greeted by Dawn who assisted me in finding the perfect dress along with the matching accessories of hat, shoes and a bag. I can't thank Dawn enough for all her expert help and advice and for making the whole experience of choosing such an important outfit a very pleasurable and stress free process. She helped me to look and feel elegant on the day and I received many lovely compliments! I certainly highly recommend Molly Browns to any future Mother of the Bride in helping them to choose their perfect outfit for the big day.

We visited 'Molly Browns' at 21a Stonegate, York ( Special Occasions Wear) as I needed to find an amazing outfit for my investiture at Buckingham Palace. On entering 'Molly Browns' shop I was immediately greeted by Sue who proved to be the most incredible, supportive and intuitive person ever to assist me in finding an outfit. As this is an experience and opportunity of a lifetime I wanted something very special. Sue was so wonderfully patient, understanding and so professional that she made the whole experience, which could have been very stressful, an absolute joy. I would advise and recommend anyone who is planning a special occasion to visit Sue at 'Molly Browns' York. She is one in a million!

I visited Molly Brown's today to browse their mother of the groom outfits. I was attended to by Sue who was incredibly patient and nothing was too much trouble as she even went to their occasional wear shop next door but one to get some dresses that I wanted to try. Her advice was invaluable but she wasn't at all pushy and helped put me at my ease in what for me was a very important purchase. I would like to say that all the ladies that I spoke to were very pleasant and I would thoroughly recommend anyone to visit Molly Brown's for that very special outfit. A huge thank you again to all the girls but especially Sue who went above and beyond in helping me make my selection.

Got a linen dress today. Very good quality, size selection, lovely shop! Could spend few hours there. They had gorgeous scarfs, will definitely be back!

Walked in without an appointment and looked at prom dresses with my daughter. Megan was fantastic! She was very knowledgeable and guided my daughter to the perfect prom dress. Thank you Megan.

I visited this absolute gem of a shop on a very cold, wet December day. It was a spur of the moment decision whilst on a short break in York. ( My son was getting married the following February and I still hadn’t found my outfit and was beginning to panic as the wedding was 9 weeks away!) To say I was not looking my best was an understatement. I half expected to be told I’d need an appointment or they had nothing in my size. How wrong was I. The moment I walked in I was made to feel so welcome and valued. From experience many MOB/MOG shops don’t carry plus size stock. I’m a size 22 and was surprised at the number of outfits they had in stock. And there it was, a dress and jacket in the exact colours I’d hoped to find. I tried that on first and it fitted perfectly. It did look a little odd with biker boots though. A pair of heels and a hat magically appeared to complete the transformation. I felt like Cinderella going to the ball. I didn’t even want to try any of the alternatives on. I had finally found my dress. These ladies made my experience so, so special. I shall be forever grateful and can’t recommend them or this shop highly enough. If I ever need another posh outfit I will venture to the wrong side of the Pennines and head straight to Molly Browns.

Bought a new wonderful Ispirato dress matching hat with Rainbow shoes and bag. The manager Helen served us she was super patient with us and helped us get the full outfit for my daughter’s special day. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a dress for MOB or MOG. I felt fabulous all day and got so many compliments.

Myself and my sister booked a mother of the bride dress appointment for my mum and we were well looked after by Elizabeth! Ahead of the appointment she’d pulled out a range of options based on Mum’s preferences and she was amazing at taking the time to try different styles and accompanying hats/fascinators. She also sorted out a great price for the items and Mum can’t wait to wear it to the wedding! Thanks lovely ladies x

I called Molly Browns (21a Stonegate, York) a couple of times before I visited the store. I spoke to Helen who was really helpful and friendly. When I visited for my appointment it was with Helen, which was really nice as we had already chatted about what I thought I wanted for my mother of the groom outfit. I wasn't disappointed, Helen was so helpful, nothing was too much trouble. I tried on lots of dresses, some that I had picked and others that Helen suggested. I found my dress and a fascinator to go with it too! A lovely experience, I would definitely recommend Molly Browns if you are looking for a special outfit. There is so much choice, the ladies are lovely - especially Helen. Thank you Molly Browns!

Having seen a MOTB dress I really liked on the website, I hoped that I might see it in the shop whilst down for a few day’s holiday. Although it was a Saturday and the ladies had been extremely busy, they welcomed us into the shop and were happy to show us the dress. A lovely lady named Sue couldn’t have been nicer or more helpful and insisted that I take the time to try the dress on in order for me to see whether or not I suited the style. Not only did I get to try the dress on but also a matching hat and shoes to complete the ensemble. Sue’s kind words and enthusiasm in helping me, even though she knew I wasn’t purchasing anything that day, really made the whole experience a very positive one and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this shop if you would like to feel special when choosing your MOTB/G outfit.

Carol at Molly Browns was excellent so friendly, patient but professional too and she gave me advice on what dresses suited me the best. I was shopping for a Mother of the Groom dress but also purchased a second outfit for my Godson’s wedding in July as the quality and choice in the store was outstanding. Thank you Molly Browns for making it a lovely shopping experience.

I bought a beautiful Veni Invitations dress from the store in York. I didn’t have an appointment as we were just visiting for the day. However, the lady in store was so helpful and friendly that I got sorted straight away with a perfect dress for my nieces wedding. They have so much choice, the store is fantastic. Recommend them 100%. Thank you I felt a million dollars in that dress!

Today I purchased the perfect dress for my son’s wedding. Sue the assistant was absolutely amazing. I find dress shopping very difficult but was made to feel very at ease by Sue’s lovely manner. She was patient and helpful and gave good advice when needed. The whole experience was enjoyable and thankfully successful.Although the shop looks small from the outside, they have an extensive range of dresses, something to suit all tastes .I would definitely recommend Molly Browns and in particular Sue

She knew what would suit me and chose a lively fascinated to match . Both her and Helen put me at my ease and I chose the most beautiful dress for my son’s wedding . Thank you Molly Browns for helping me find the perfect dress! I bought a dress for my 18th birthday and felt wonderful wearing it. The dresses are such good quality as well for all price ranges. Our budget was around the £300 mark but I tried on dresses for as low as £90 too that were equally as gorgeous! Style wise, the dresses have so much range going from 'poofy' ballgowns to figure hugging evening dresses. As well as the dresses, the staff were amazing. From the moment I stept in I felt so comfortable and didn't feel judged. When trying on the dresses, the lady who assisted me was so lovely giving me the opportunity to try on as many styles and colours as I needed to find the perfect dress. If you're looking for a dress shop, Molly Browns is the place to go!

Sue was incredible from start to finish, we couldn't imagine the experience without her guidance and expertise. A truly warm, kind, wonderful lady who helped to put you at ease, as well as take you out of your comfort zone and find something you feel magical in. My mum was delighted with her dress. I had a wonderful experience shopping for my Mother of the Bride outfit at Molly Browns. Helen and the team were extremely friendly and helpful, and offered great advice to help me choose my perfect outfit. After being spoilt for choice with lots of lovely options, Helen was able to suggest a couple of different dresses that I wouldn’t have thought about myself, and I completely fell in love with one of them! She was also able to demonstrate a great choice of lots of different coloured hats to help complete the look! My daughter and I were very well looked after, and felt very relaxed throughout our visit. I would highly recommend Molly Browns to anyone looking for that special occasion outfit! I booked an appointment for my daughter to try on prom dresses . The lady who helped us was called Jane and she was so so lovely . She encouraged my daughter to try on different styles and colours . We had a private area in the shop and it was such a lovely experience. We weren’t rushed or pressured to buy. My daughter found the most stunning dress and then another lady .. i think she was the owner ? Helped us find jewellery to complement the dress . We left the dress at the shop whilst we did some other shopping around York…on return it was all ready for us to take home. A wonderful experience. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this shop to anyone . Thank you again xx

I tried on numerous outfits, and nothing was too much trouble!!… i got a dress and fascinator- all sorted now… As mother of the groom i wanted a dress that oozed quality- thats just what i have…. Lovely outfits but unless you've booked an appointment you can't try anything on or see half their stock! That was the mother of the bride shop. Also only saw 2 members of staff the twice I went in on one day

Looked everywhere for the right outfit for my daughters wedding. Found it here in York. So nice the shop and felt so relaxed and not rushed at all. Really listen to what you like and very helpful. Thank you so much for your time last Monday really appreciated it. Now I can relax until the wedding.

I cannot recommend Molly Browns - Mother of the Bride and Bridal enough. I had to re-arrange my daughters wedding four times over many seasons due to Covid/lock down. Because of this I held back purchasing an outfit which would suit the season. I kept my eye on the beautiful dresses with jackets sold by Molly Browns. As soon as I had a confirmed date I ordered online. My chosen outfit arrived beautifully wrapped and in perfect ready to wear condition. To my surprise as a plus size lady the dress and jacket fitted perfectly. The service was wonderful and I would and will be using Molly Browns for special occasions in the future. On another note this is the first dress I have worn in many years and felt like a million dollars. I had lots of people asking where I purchased my outfit. Thank you Molly Browns

I had tried a dress on at another shop and wanted a particular size and colour. Molly Browns had this in stock, ordering was very straightforward and the dress was delivered within 4 days, nicely packed and complete with a dress bag and coat hanger. I had emailed a couple of questions and had replies really quickly. Fantastic service, I would recommend this store to anyone wanting a Mother of the Bride outfit (or other occasions). Well done and thank you for such a good service.

I went here to buy an outfit for daughter's wedding. As soon as I mentioned I had a budget which was in the hundreds not thousands the lady assistant was clearly not happy about this I think if I had said I could spend whatever she would have been a lot more enthusiastic. She appeared not to be very happy about been at work I did get a dress but would have been happier if the sales person had been more enthusiastic.This shop has some lovely outfits if you have plenty of money.

Bought in December and after only wearing it Christmas Day and once more recently I hand washed the jumper. It is now full of bobbles and silver beads have started to turn black. The outfit was delivered by Royal Mail next day, packed beautifully. Especially pleased to receive a hanger and dust cover, makes all the difference to keep things "nice”- very much appreciated. The dress fits perfectly, I love the 'fit 'n flare' style and pockets = yay! Such a rarity these days and bracelet sleeves too. I am delighted with my purchase. Thank you so much.
