Found this eventually, hotel gave us post code that took us to front of Barbican. This is behind it, next to the Fire station for your Nav. Ok, its a bit more money than I expected ( and no discount offered by our hotel) But - this is secure. The gates will open when you get to them, take your ticket and keep it when you leave. You will need your ticket to enter the car park on foot. The spaces were not too tight so you shouldn't get dents from the vehicles next to you. Pay when you leave, inside, at the machine - Card only. Overall - worth the extra if you value your car and contents

Took over half an hour to get out after a recent Yes concert, but other than that, safe and secure and a guy at the exit helped get cars out as quickly as they could. Really handy for the Barbican.

Good safe car park HOWEVER it was chaos to pay after watching a show in a local venue. Q carpark used to allow tickets to be validated at the venue which made it simple and quick to pay, making it easy to leave at the end of the night. However, since the change has been made expect to queue for a considerable amount of time to just be able to pay. Most people in the queue said they won't park there gain. We def won't which is a shame Update: in response to Q's response, the tickets were a gift so we wouldnt have recieved the info regarding prebooking a car parking space and I liked the flexibility of the previous system. I don't put this on the venue, I put this on your company for changing the system. People like the flexibility, without the need to prebook in advance. People just want to turn up to a car park and park their car so they can enjoy their night without the hassle of prebooking ahead of the event. What if you dont have the facility to do that? What if you are using the car park on an evening and not going to the venue, how would you know about prebooking because they wouldn't have bought tickets? It isnt very user friendly im afraid and unfair to put the blame on the venue.

Absolutely dreadful car park. Having attended a school concert at the Barbican, we paid at the box office and got back to our car at about 8pm. There was a huge queue of cars waiting to exit. The car park was unmanned and had a single exit barrier. Because of the long wait, paid tickets had expired and drivers couldnโ€™t work out how to pay the extra charges that were being demanded. I watched at the barrier for about 15 minutes whilst cars tried to exit. In that time about 3 cars managed to get out. Over 50 were waiting. The queue was gridlocked. In one hour of waiting to get out we moved about 10 yards. We abandoned our car in the car park and walked home. No doubt tomorrow morning theyโ€™ll try to charge us for overnight parking. Donโ€™t go near this car park. One automated exit barrier in an unmanned car park of this size is totally inadequate. Their telephone switchboard had closed down at 8pm and there was no means to summon help. Awful, awful experience. What is even worse, it seems from reading other reviews that this is a regular occurrence and the owners, Q-Park, have done absolutely nothing about it. Further comment; The response below from Q Park is of course totally inadequate and only adds insult to injury. They canโ€™t even spell โ€œapologiseโ€. Am I meant to be grateful for the fact they allowed me to exit their car park without further charge 14 hours after I had paid to do so and when in flagrant breach of their contractual obligations they had failed to facilitate my exit yesterday evening leaving me and my family to walk home in the dark? There was a single exit barrier which was malfunctioning, the (allegedly secure) car park was unmanned after 8pm and their switchboard wasnโ€™t answering calls. Their complacent response underlines the fact that they couldnโ€™t give a damn about their obligations to their customers and are purely interested in making money for their parent company. They know very well that there are long queues after well attended events at the Barbican but set their charges so that your ticket is only valid for departure a short time after you have paid knowing full well that the queues will be such that the time will have expired before you reach the barrier. Nobody should go anywhere near their car parks if they have any sense. This has been happening for years according to the reviews. They do nothing about it and simply make empty, hollow and insincere apologies hoping to entice the next fool to use their car parks. I bet they wonโ€™t respond to this further comment because there is no honest answer they can give. By the way, according to their last filed accounts they have net liabilities of over ยฃ23 million.

Convenient, well signposted and good value for the theatre. Best of all was the fantastic staffmember Tom going above and beyond at the exit tonight with a smile and a great attitude. Made the exit queue a delightful experience, thanks Tom!

Everytime I use the Barbican QPark it takes an hour to get out! The one door in to enter is ridiculous! There is no benefit of paying in advance up. OK it saves you a second when you arrive and leave. The ยฃ3 saving was ruined by the hurl of abuse you get from people waiting in the huge queue to get in as they think you're queue jumping. Totally ruined my otherwise great night out. Please sort the queuing system into the car parking. If you're going to have someone there could they help direct traffic or perhaps help people pay quicker.

Good car park, the number plate recognition made it very quick and convenient to enter. There were roadworks so it was a bit hard to reach, but I can't blame that on the company. Other than that, nothing special, 4/5 toilet points.

2m High. Our 1.9m tall LWB van got in ok with just a slight twang of the short aerial. Lots of manoeuvring space. Well light and locking pedestrian gate and vehicle gate. Very Secure and if pre booked and with hotel discount code from travel lodge very reasonable for 24 hours.

Absolutely shocking. Having visited the Barbican on numerous occasions since Covid we have always paid for our car parking ticket in the venue. Apparently there has been a change of policy and this was no longer possible, you either had to use the pay stations or the app. I downloaded the app but this was irrelevant as you needed to have it set up before arrival so that your car reg can be taken on entry to the car park. Our only alternative therefore was to pay at the machines, along with the rest of the sold out venue - the queue went across the road! When we finally got to the pay station we noticed that the hourly rate was highest in the evening - previously I think we've paid about ยฃ5 to the venue for parking in their car park for the whole evening but last night it was ยฃ2.20 per hour! As the queue was so long we entered our fourth hour of parking and had to pay ยฃ8.80. So having queued for nearly half an hour to pay for our ticket we then went to the car and queued for ages to get out of the car park - it didn't seem to be as quick as previous times and when we got to the exit we found out why - everyone had to put their ticket in to lift the barrier! Before this has been done manually which really speeds up the exit. The communication around the change in parking circumstances was appalling - telling people that "it's on the website" isn't helpful, when as a regular visitor you know where you're parking and have your routine. Given that the majority of tickets are e-tickets, surely an email could have been sent to all the concert attendees to let them know of the new arrangements and to download and activate the app ahead of the event.

Very expensive car park. 4 hrs was over ยฃ10. Circa 15 minutes comfortable walk to the historical town centre. Good location if you want to avoid busy roads. Safe car park, only card payment is possible. There was plenty of places on Saturday afternoon.

It's expensive but all parking in York is expensive. It's secure, easy to pay and the bays are a decent size.

Great place to park when visiting York Barbican or a short walk in to York City centre. If visiting the Barbican you can validate your ticket and pay a reduced charge at the box office desk.

I pre booked this car park because i wanted the security but i found that the front gate is always open so anyone can walk in and out at any time, also the pedestrian entrance can always be opened even though it says you need your ticket to enter so that was a bit disappointing. Other than that the car park is clean nice size bays and not far from york centre. Using the ticket machine was easy too.

Easy to get to if you're down the bottom part of York and it was a fair price and clean and easy to use. Offered a discount to local hotels too which reduced the payment by a chunk ๐Ÿ‘

Left our car here all day - wow, talk about Fort Knox! Trust me, your car will be safe in here. Maximum fee is ยฃ16.50 per day, which we got charged for 11 hours of parking. We were OK with that. The downside is; it's a good 15--20 mins walk, from the city centre. We walk fast so did it in 10 mins

We always use this facility being just 10 minutes walk from the city centre. Only reason I didn't give it 5 was on our last visit the secure gate was not working ( that's part of what we pay for isn't it?)

Only one exit gate in a large car park. After the snooker took around 20 minutes for everyone to filter out. By the time I got to the barrier, my ticket wasn't valid and it said I owed another ยฃ2.40. Scandalous.

Grossly overpriced for a provincial location tied to The Barbican in York. There is insufficient information regarding pre pay, reduced prices for theatre goers and the payment station is woefully inadequate. 30 plus people, standing in the rain to find out that they have just been charged a little under ยฃ11 for 3 hours parking....... at night....... in York. Parlous. You truly are a useless lot and I will avoid you like the plague in future.

Great secure car park, booked at a discounted rate for a stay at the Travelodge just a few mins away. Felt very confident that the car would be safe here, automatic gates at the entrance and no means of getting in without a ticket

Great car park and great location and not as much of a rip off as other car parks in York. Very secure parking and big enough spaces so your not squeezing in and out of your car. Easy to use website/app and well worth the download.

Lack of transparency and dishonest pricing! Pre booked parking a few hours before arrival, was charged ยฃ22 for less than 24 hours although both website and signs at the car park clearly state maximum cost for 24 hours is ยฃ17.50. Customer service have advised prices fluctuate (despite this not being clear on signage or website). As previous reviewer mentions (from 6+months ago), security gate was left open so anyone can walk in .

Secure car park with plenty of spaces during the week. Took ticket on entry and paid at the machine with a credit card and exited with no problems. Very easy system to use. Price was a little expensive but no more than other car parks in the area.

Stayed at Travelodge who have an arrangement for 30% discount using this car park. You take your ticket and have it validated in a machine on reception. On two occasions recently this has failed to give me the discount despite the ticket being stamped by the hotel. SCAM - BEWARE

Booked in advance. Then installed app. Then realised from reading faqs and then speaking to support that advance bookings and app are different systems so removed credit card and registration from app. Parking and leaving car park by registration plate worked fine for the advance booking as far as I can tell. Not any imminent in town parking requirements in the near future so leaving app without any details until definitely requited. Future Development suggestion: Create a squad to see their way to unify the advance booking order and payments with in app purchases. Disadvantage: customers who still. get charged despite having booked on advance don't bother using Q-Park facilities in future. Advantage: maybe you do not need those sorts of complications in future

I wouldnโ€™t park here if you are going to a concert. It took us over 40 minutes to get out ( and only 10 cars exited in that time) as the layout is dreadful and there is no one on the help button so one car was stuck for 5 minutes blocking the whole carpark. The same thing happened with another car. We were only parked 5 spaces from the barrier so I hate to think how long it would have taken for the other cars to leave that were on the second deck. Really poor layout and disgraceful that no-one was on the gate or available by the assist button to help. It cost ยฃ7 and spoilt our evening!

On arrival, couple of weeks ago, found a physical barrier saying that the carpark was closed, despite cars coming out. Had to find and pay another carpark for the 2 days I was in York. Still waiting for costumer service team to answer me back.
