Our daughter has been having lessons at Shirley Pool for over a year. She absolutely loves it! Both me and my partner enjoy the lessons with her. It’s such great bonding time while teaching her valuable water safety skills. She has become so confident in the water. The teachers are excellent and have Shelly to thank for her amazing enthusiasm and understanding of the children. Highly recommend. Such value for money! Darcie, 18 month+ with Shelly.

Back to basics for a pool but with basics done really well. Lady on reception (Natalie I think) was excellent and really shows how to do good customer service well. Baby pool is nice and small and well heated. Sessions are booked in advance so not too busy. Toys to play with as well. Adult pool looked decent for lane swimming. Changing rooms for men was compact but good enough.

The staff are all lovely and so friendly and welcoming. Tara on reception is great. The teachers are brilliant (Ruby, Philo, Babs, and AJ all deserve a mention). My 2yo loves her lessons and her teachers and has improved so much, not only her skills, but her confidence too. That being said, I deducted one star due to the cleanliness of the baby pool: • Sometimes the pool is really dirty with sediment accumulated in the corners of the pool. • Sometimes the water is cloudy with a film of what I can only guess to be skin oils on the surface. Also, the floor of the ladies' changing room is often flooded and filthy. I wish the staff would periodically squeegee the water into the drains like they do at other swimming pools.

The pool and teaching staff are great, I highly recommend them for lessons, but maybe bring your own food and drink to have while you wait because the staff of the bus don’t seem to have picked up that all their customers have 30 minutes to order, have whatever they bought, and get back inside to pick up kids. And that’s on a day when they haven’t somehow run out of coffee for the coffee shop.

All three of my girls have thoroughly enjoyed their lessons at Shirley Swimming Pool over the course of the last 9 years! My eldest two progressed through swim school right up to turtles, earning badges, making amazing progress and loving all their different teachers. My youngest loved having Jane in the small pool who encouraged her every step of the way and she loved her swimming lessons in the beautifully warm pool. She is now in breaststroke with Ashley and has come on so quickly, really impressed with her swimming. As a family, we love the opportunity to come swimming together on a Sunday, and the flexibility of the two sessions and the older girls love trying to climb the ropes and play with the floats and balls. Thanks Shirley Pool for providing such great teaching, and a friendly atmosphere.

Definitely would recommend this lovely place for kids’ training. Very patient, respectful and skilful trainers along with understanding, lovely and cooperative admin. My kid has progressed a lot in the time he spent here. On top of that, he loves this amazing swimming school!!

My child goes here for lessons and loves it. I did have recent experience was not so great. I Started doing lane swimming on a Sunday morning and after the first session decided to get a full face snorkel mask to make it more comfortable by not getting the random face splashes and water in the mouth and nose. Used the mask without any problems last week, this week after being in the pool for less than 5 minutes was told I could not wear it under their health and safety policy as it restricted my vision. I e-mailed a complaint to their management about this as the mask has a full field of vision so this reason is spurious. The reply by the manager, Luke, assured me the employee in question was in error and they have no such policy and that I am welcome to return and carry swimming with the mask. A swift and decisive resolution to the issue which speaks well of how they care for all their customers.

This is my favourite swimming pool to visit! Lovely little pool and it’s so much calmer and quieter than a lot of other ones which is good for those with sensory issues. The changing rooms are always nice and clean and the staff are super helpful and friendly!

This is a friendly pool for all ages. They always help children get better or even learn all the basics of swimming and some tricks like under water handstands or roly - polys. There is a 1 meter part of the pool, and a deeper which they will swim in when they get better. They also dive or jump there (when conformable). There is a small pool for younger children or those who are just learning to swim. The changing rooms are a bit wet even if you would dry your feet. I hope you join and like it! ✨🤽‍♀️🏊‍♀️🏊‍♂️🏊

Me and my daughter Rosa have been going to shirley swimming school since she was 6 weeks old and I couldn't recommend it more. We attend Wednesdays with Philomena but if for any reason we can't make it they allow us to make up the lesson at another date. Philomena is a wonderful teacher, who knows how to get the best out of the lessons. My daughter is so confident in the water and I owe it all to the school

The swimming pool is small but the organisation and time schedule make it work perfectly, I never felt like it was too crowded and the staff is super kind and helpful. I have been a member for almost a year now and I am definitely going to continue using this facility.

Would 100% recommend for the parent and baby swim classes my little boy has come on such a way since he first started and it definitely helps with his confidence in other things such as crawling and moving… Philomena’s classes are the best she is so hands on and her passion for teaching shows in those lessons and my little boy loves swimming with her 😃

It's a small pool, ideal for swimming lessons / kids / people who find large pools overwhelming or who are gaining confidence in their swimming. It's shallow at both ends with a deep section in the middle, again ideal for learners or unconfident swimmers. I attended an aquafit class here which was taking place at one end whilst there was a lesson for adult beginners at the other - great use of the space! Staff were friendly & helpful, the changing room was totally communal (no cubicles) although there were toilets inside the changing area, so I guess you could use that? Another plus point is you can pre-book your activity online - no excuse not to go then! 😏

Literally our favourite time of the week, for both of us. Philomena is a great teacher and we love coming every Wednesday morning. Always found a parking space, changing rooms are always clean. We go to the baby 9-18 months class. Just sad I didn't find it for my first child!

Both our girls Inaya and Elyse love coming here, they've had a lesson once a week since they were only 6 months old, They love their teachers Jane and Babs and have great fun in their lessons. Both are getting better and better at swimming all thanks to the teachers and staff. We love the fact that we can come here and swim for free during the public swim hours and always a friendly welcome from the staff. Great food and coffee on site as well for a little snack while I'm watching my eldest. Update - we still love it here, they've made it much easier to view their lessons and book catch ups with the new website. Would highly recommend.

Teaching is very good and both of my kids made good progress. Big problem is when you need to speak with teacher or manager. Tried to talk to both. Left messages and our phone numbers at the reception and sent email 3 months ago and still no reply. I don't

Could do with updating. Hasn't changed since I learnt to swim here 30 years ago! Good swimming lessons.

The baby lessons are way over priced compared to the quays, the staff were forever miss informing be about important details. Unhelpful reception team members which isn’t their fault as they clearly haven’t been trained well enough to know all the polices and procedures. They take your money and refuse to give you a refund when they make a mistake. However the swimming instructor was Lovley no fault there. Would highly… not recommend sending your babies here.

If you are an adult and would love to learn to swim Shirley pool is the perfect place. Lovely teachers, kind , understanding and very patient. Every lesson with Paris is great, I feel comfortable, relaxed and closer to achieve my goals.

Love this local pool. Lane swimming sessions are excellent and it’s lovely seeing all the babies and young children coming in to have their first experience in the water, learn to swim and improve their ability. The staff are very friendly and the red bus parked outside serves tasty food. Would highly recommend.
