I
recently
rode
at
Fort
Widley
after
having
ridden
for
many
years
in
Cornwall
and
moving
to
the
local
area.
I
considered
myself
able
to
ride
with
some
experience
working
around
horses,
however,
the
experience
at
Fort
Widley
is
enough
to
knock
anyone's
confidence.
On
one
occasion
there
were
perhaps
40
horses
in
one
20
x
40m
school,
jammed
tail
to
tail
on
two
circles,
with
complete
beginners
mixed
among
more
experienced
riders
which
was
chaos
and
absolutely
unsafe!
Equipment
was
worn
and
frayed
and
never
checked
by
instructors
beforehand,
they
just
assume
you
will
adjust
your
own
stirrups
and
girth.
At
another
point
in
the
lesson
before
mine
one
of
the
horses
spooked
and
bolted
across
the
arena
with
a
small
child
clinging
to
its
neck,
to
which
the
instructor
laughed
and
told
her
to
'get
on
with
it'
even
though
the
child
was
crying
and
obviously
upset.
Overall
I
found
this
riding
school
very
unsafe
and
badly
organised
with
hardly
any
actual
instruction
in
the
lessons.
I
had
a
different
instructor
and
a
different
horse
every
lesson
for
the
few
months
I
rode
there
which
felt
like
starting
again
every
lesson
as
I
would
have
to
explain
to
each
new
instructor
my
riding
ability,
to
which
they
would
take
no
notice.
I
have
since
moved
to
another
riding
school
which
I
have
found
substantially
better
with
a
much
better
learning
environment.
