Fantastic place. We had a really good few hours here today with our 4 year old . Booked into the handling session which was great , the keeper was very knowledgeable about the creatures she brought out for us to hold. Will definitely go back again once they have expanded , they are planning to add a play park , butterfly house , ponds / pond dipping and some more bug houses to walk around. We had lunch in the restaurant, reasonably priced and food was nice. All the staff were friendly and chatty , were looking forward to going back.

I visited with my daughter a week or so ago, very good prices for food and lots to look at! Cannot wait to come back in the summer and use the sand pit, bouncing thing and see the new things opening soon (bug home and the fish pond) very good day out, the handling session was well worth the money will return in a heart beat.

Wow. What an amazing place for bug lovers! 🐛 in particular the ant Room! Incredible set up there to look at. All the bugs are in immaculate set ups. The site is clean, fresh and new. The bug handling experience is very good for children to get hands on! The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Also very accommodating for people with spider phobias. The spider area is clearly separated from the rest of that particular department so you don't need to walk through with any surprises catching you off guard 😉 if you aren't a spider fan. We arrived when doors opened and had the entire place to ourselves. It was fantastic!

Found this hidden gem whilst in holiday and so glad I did was such a lovely place to visit. I didn’t expect there to be so much to do and see there and to be honest wish I had stayed there all day. I have 4 children aged between 3 and 11 and they all enjoyed it especially my bug mad 3 years old. We did the handling experience too which they loved. I would recommend booking the handling in advance as this gets booked quickly. The place was so well kept , clean and tidy and I love that they had stools for the little ones to see in the tanks as normally I’m forever lifting up my children to be able to see. My children loved the play area. I would definitely recommend.

Absolutely fabulous place. My ten year old and her friend had a lovely time peeking into different insects homes, the handling session was informative and is definitely a must, and the cafe food had a huge thumbs up from my daughter. We were delighted to discover the play area too which had lots to do and would have been great for younger ones too. We’ll definitely be back again this year.

Lovely day out, spent around 3 hours there (just 2 adults) midweek outside of the school holidays so it was pretty quiet! We didn't go to the cafe, but that did seem busy. The whole place was wonderfully clean, the exhibits were incredible, could have spent an hour just looking at the pinned butterflys in cases, a little sad, but each and every one was beautiful. We paid the extra £2 each to take part in the 45 min handling session, turns out we were the only ones there for it, it was wonderful! the young lad Fenn who showed the critters to us was really friendly, polite and super knowledgeable, explained everything and answered all the questions we asked, a true asset to the team there. The toilets were also the nicest and cleanest I've been in at a wildlife attraction ever! The sheer number of displays was mind boggling! So so many different and exciting things to look at and read about. I cannot wait to go back!

Went for my 27th birthday! It was amazing, any age can enjoy the parc. Staff knowledgeable, friendly and so so kind. We spent hours going room to room and I could have redone the whole thing after and saw something new. I recommend to everyone

A must see of you're into invertebrates!! Thus place is amazing. Me and my daughter we love arthropods and have been everywhere, in zoos, parks etc. But this place is like no other! Youcan see 200+ different species, you can book a handling session, individual tours etc etc. The park itself is very nice and keeps expanding. There's a free parking area, very nice cafe, everything is clean and tidy. The staff are super friendly and helpful. You can spend from couple hours to whole day here. Do not miss this place! We drove from London and it was definitely worth it!

Superb place to visit for all ages. Took my 2 year old daughter and she absolutely loved it. The cafe/restaurant has great food and is outstanding value, particularly these days! Plenty more new exciting attractions are planned for the site in future too. A must visit!

This place is a real gem we spent the afternoon here but I wish we had the whole day. Food in the cafe was delicious and fairly priced. Admission is cheap compared to most parks. We loved seeing the ants and the snails and crabs the most! Our daughter loved the jumping cushion and the go karts. Holding the bugs was so fun! Unique and well worth a visit - or more, we will be back 😊 can’t wait for the butterfly tunnel!!

Had a fantastic time. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. We done the handling experience and there was no pressure to hold something if we felt uncomfortable. Some amazing creatures on display and even more species coming soon with expansion in progress and looking very exciting. My family and I are looking forward to returning with more friends and family in the near future.

We were visiting the area and looking for something to do and stumbled across the Bug Parc by chance. We had a great time, for those not keen on spiders you can skip around that area if you want to. The bug holding was really reasonable priced (make sure you book, as very popular and they limit the numbers so that there are not too many people at once) and great to experience. The staff were very good in helping collect bugs and take them back once asked as well as those who didn't want to hold a particular type. The ant farm was one of the most amazing I have seen (not added pics, as you need to experience for yourself). So many tubes and watching them working was awesome! If you can find time to visit, please do. They have a cafe on site, which we only got drinks there, but the food looked amazing too! The gift shop had a variety of reasonably priced gifts for children and adults. This is a newly build place and so please go along for a visit if you can.

We took our nieces here for a half term day out. It's an awesome place to visit. There is so much to do and see. Great outdoor space with go carts, bouncing pillow and play areas. The indoor bug houses are great with an incredible variety of critters to see with lots of information and facts. They have been very creative with the bug displays. We did the handling and all thought it was an amazing experience and thoroughly enjoyed it. The facilities here are really good all very well kept, great food at the cafe too. We had the best day and will definitely be visiting again soon.

Great place, not just for bug enthusiasts, but anyone! So many different invertebrates to see, handling sessions also available to book, for those wanting closer experience. Lovely cafe on site too, with delicious coffee. Would recommend to anyone!

Brilliant place to take kids and adults! Took my 9 year old grandson and he was completely entranced. Lots of invertebrates to see. Well presented with lots of info if you want it. One room entirely devoted to a colony of leaf cutter ants. To top it all they have a lovely cafe with decent food at a reasonable price. Recommend.

  • 5/5 A i. 1 year ago on Google
Amazing! And they're still adding more. Our 11, 7 and 2 year old all found it interesting and took their time observing the many critters. The UV lights for glow up scorpions and the leaf cutting ants were the kids favourite. Unfortunately we didn't pre book a handling session :( recommend you do, will definitely be going back soon. Nice little play park, clean toilets and reasonably priced cafe.

Fantastic day out. The staff were all friendly and helpful. It was great to see the founder out and about and happy to speak to guests. The good was great and a reasonable price. This place has a bright future and I look forward to going back

Amazing place. The exhibits are so well thought out. If you have the slightest fascination with creepy crawlies, then you will find this a great place to spend an afternoon. And book on the handling experience - great value, and not as scary as you may think!

  • 5/5 Jessica R. 6 months ago on Google
What a wonderful experience. There is a sense of love and effort in how this has been set up and maintained which shines and means your visit is perfect! The handling was informative and exciting, the play park is really fun especially the bouncy trampoline (was better than your standard adventure playground) and the range of creatures and how they are set up is fascinating. This is a 'how to do it' for other farms, zoos and animal encounters.

Stumbled upon this place online when looking for things to entertain our animal mad 10yr old. We booked a handling experience and wan’t expecting much else. When we arrived we were impressed by the modern buildings and smart cafe. The staff were very welcoming explaining about the treasure hunts and bug eating competition. We viewed the first 2 rooms before our handling session. There are around 5 rooms each full of tanks containing insects, spiders and bugs of all sizes. Some are difficult to spot. The handling session was great however some people did arrive late missing the safety instructions but were still allowed to take part. I don’t think this was right. The staff member handling the bugs was very knowledgable and had a real passion. The outside areas are under construction but there is still a park, inflatable pillow, go karts and the treasure hunt. Overall a great day and we look forward to seeing the expansion. Did i mention the ant colony?

We had a great day at The Bug Parc. There's plenty to see and the bouncy pillow was a big hit with the kids. The Bug collection was fascinating. So many interesting little creatures to see. The restaurant was reasonably priced and the portions were big. The food was delicious with a wide variety to choose from. The handling experience was a highlight for us. Fenn, the young man who assisted with the bug handling, was very knowledgeable and friendly. We'll definitely be back. Especially as there's lots of new areas planned for next year.

I visited with my son today, for his birthday!! He is 27 🤣 he loved what you’ve done, giving his ideas for his own set ups at work (Writtle Uni College). You’ve presented everything really well. Very interested to see how you grow, and we will be back! (We almost came away with a beetle grub)…you have a gem of a place 🐛🪲🪲🪳

I can't express how much we all loved it. We arrived at around opening and had a slow walk round, it was fascinating looking at all the animals! We finished looking around at about 12, stopped for lunch and then had another walk round. We booked a handling session and it was 100% worth it, the staff were very informative and friendly. We then went for a final walk around at 2 pm. We also stopped for the ant talk, they are amazing!! I highly recommend, even if you don't really like bugs, you will love the bug parc!!! Can't wait to visit again!

Honestly amazing! So happy to have a “bug zoo” so close. Even better than the hype, so beautifully and lovingly put together. Can’t wait to go again. And like said definitely book the handling session, my son wished I’d booked 2.

Took our grandchildren and had a brilliant day. Particularly loved the dark room and finding creatures hiding in the tanks. The talk was so informative and then the rain cleared and they enjoyed the bouncy cushion. Told us they definitely wanted to some back.

The whole family (3 generations) loved this day out! Fantastic bugs and invertebrates. Leaf cutter ants were fascinating. Scorpions, praying mantis, stick insects, spiders, tarantulas, millipedes. An amazing day out. Outside activities: there is a massive jumping pillow allowing children both over and under one metre in height. Great fun. Undercover sand pit area like being on a beach. Picnic area plus an amazing cafe which does hot meals and snacks. Very affordable, very fresh locally produced food. A really well thought out day time activity. The handling experience is well worth it with the giant millipedes. The grandchildren loved this. Toilets were exceptionally clean. Booking on line is an option, we didn't and had no wait but would probably book online next time to guarantee the handling experience. Brilliant! Definitely one to recommend. Lots of interesting bugs to look at. I especially loved the ant display. Playground , a good sized cafe, picnic area and gift shop. It's expanding too so will be even better in the future. Free for under 4s.

Fantastic for any age. Something for all and it's still growing. I would recommend booking a handling session as you get to learn even more about them. Staff are quite friendly and it's nice and clean. Great variety of food from a cooked breakfast to light lunch or snacks or a cooked dinner see my photos that I took on my visit Loved holding the stick insects btw

Great day out with the children and big children 😊. So many different bugs to look at. We listened to the ant talk and watched the lead cutter ants making their way around the whole room in their tubes and found it fascinating. We also did the handling experience which is amazing for an avid bug lover. They are constantly expanding and making a larger play area for the children . Definitely a good day out.

I found this place by mistake on a facebook post and I'm so glad I did. Went there in April 2023 with my mum and my daughters. They had so much fun seeing all the little creatures and we were lucky enough to listen to Martin, the owner, telling us all about the ants' life cycle. My kids found it all very interesting and stayed until the end. They also had many questions to which he kindly answered. We had a picnic and a break outside in the play area and then finished with the handling experience which was great! One of the kids was brave enough to touch a Goliath beetle and the Giant African snail but they were mostly watching me holding the rest of the animals. I don't usually write long reviews but what I liked the most was the kindness and the friendliness of the staff and the owner, it made our day :) I strongly recommend bringing your kids of all ages.

A really interesting and unique experience with so much potential for expansion, we can't wait to visit again . The layout was good and we were particularly impressed with the toilet facilities. Highly recommended especially if you are looking for an indoors activity!

It was brilliant. A great bug place to go to. So many interesting facts and bugs and since doing Animal Care for 2 years at college, I have always had an interest in bugs and insects. Really loved the handling session. One question what is the picture in the cafe with two flies with long thin wings The picture at the back of the cafe in the middle?

Wow what a fantastic place, I took my youngest son and we had a brilliant time. This is a quality place to visit and definitely a place we're we will revisit and soon. The displays are very good and enjoyable for all ages. The toilets facilities are very good and I'm looking forward to seeing how this place grows in the future. Can't wait to return you doing everything right for your customers. Stuart.

A great place to take children who love creepy crawlies. An informative talk about leaf cutter ants who were carrying heart shaped leaves (Valentine's Day). My niece was so happy when the stick insect flew and landed on her, she loved the play area too. The displays were amazing. We will be returning.

We live not far away and have passed it as it was being built so decided to give it a look. Really interesting displays- hubby was fascinated by the leaf cutter ants and the owner gave a really good informative talk about them. We also got to see a stick insect fly- I did hide behind hubby at this point! Despite not being keen on spiders they were actually fascinating to see up close. There’s a huge amount to look at and I would certainly recommend to bring little ones as there are stools for them to stand on. There’s a lovely play area out the back too. It was nice to see the owner on hand around the place too. The cafe is really good- a decent range of foods to choose from and a good price. Will definitely be back to sample the breakfast alone! Must also say the loos are very posh with some lovely pics on the wall. The owner has plans to develop even further which is great as there’s nothing like this around here so should bring the tourists in. Will definitely be spreading the word.

Wow - what an incredible place! There is so much to do and so much to see! The bug enclosures were all really informative and I learnt so much! I also really loved the fact there were little stools for kids to stand on so they could see into the tanks! The handling experience was well worth it. The Parc was really well maintained. It was clean and tidy and the staff were all so friendly and helpful. The food was reasonably priced with immense portions and tasted really good too! Lots to do outside - go karts, jumping pillows and a little play park too. Would 10/10 visit again despite living 141 miles away.

Had an amazing day here before Christmas. As. Macro photographer is was great to see species I’d have to travel the world to see! Facilities were excellent, all exhibition houses were great and we had the breakfast in the cafe which was very reasonably priced and tasted great! Can’t wait to go back later this year to see the new dipping pond they were working on.
