A fraught day in which I rushed to the launderette at 5pm on Sunday with the school uniforms for four children, the washing machine filter blocked again, no doubt by Lego, a hair band or a piece of pasta ( all previous culprits). I am a person of tiny bladder ( key scheme user) and my cup literally ranneth over when I saw the public toilets had been demolished. And I am compelled to be in this wasteland for 27 minutes now. To the rescue, Hungry Bear coffee shop! Open till 8 even on Sunday ( closed Tuesday) Relaxed vibe, quiet modern jazz vibe. Gluten free Quichette and fantastic black coffee. Quietly lovely service. Turned my day right around. If only they did laundry too this would be six stars. Turned my frown upside down. I feel like Kerouac tapping away here rather than a frazzled laundry desperado. Thank you!

Nice spot for breakfast. Some super nice touches, beans were top notch and homemade hashbrowns. A bit of gristle in the sausage patty just takes a ⭐️off. Will be back though!

Hungry Bear has been SUCH a treat since its arrival in Stoke Village. Some of the tastiest coffee and some great sweet and savoury gluten free treats. Ian and Justin are both super friendly and make you feel beyond welcome. Highly recommend!

Fantastic selection of teas, lovely coffee with milk alternatives, and a cake/brownie selection to die for! We will certainly be back again.

Top Spot in Stoke Village. Get in early as there is always little room in Hungry Bear.. See from the front window out over Plymouth to the sound. You can see ships navigating past the the Breakwater in fine weather from this vantage.. Fast internet and very particular coffee and cakes or savory snacks delivered with delightful aplomb. The maître de (tall and handsomely) makes sure you have what you need. Good wifi. Some sitting working. (unsure if this is good for Hungry Bear) Plugged i and tolerated. Ladies group with dog enjoying coffee and cakes. Love this place will be back.

Great coffee, great food, great vibes. I love chatting to the owners every time my partner and I pop in for a drink and a treat. I highly recommend their oat caramel lattes. Undoubtedly my favourite cafe :)

This cafe is a lovely place to go and have a beverage and cake in a very welcoming atmosphere. The service from Ian and Justin is in my opinion exemplary. This has become one of my favourite places to visit .They also do take away drinks which is very convenient too.

Just popped in during a walk and DEAR LORD your blondies are to die for 😍. I had a lovely oat milk latte too. I'm not from the area but I'll make the effort to pop in when I can!

Greeted like an old friend on every visit. Always welcomed with a big smile and a genuine warmth that larger cafes and chains tend to lack. The service is spot on every time, which is the main reason we keep going back. The Brownies are plentiful, rich and cater for most dietary requirements. Personally, my diet required me to try them all... The star of the show has to be the milkshake. I'd have one a day if my wallet allowed! Keep doing what you're doing guys.

Neat and homely cafe. Everything is homemade and the customer service was helpful and welcoming. The food was great and the wait wasn't that long for freshly homemade meals.

What a great atmosphere here! It’s cozy, the service is great, and the drinks and brownies in particular are fabulous. It’s good value, and would really recommend their oat shakes. Quickly becoming a favourite.

So pleased this is now on the highstreet. Firstly, lovely staff and the food! It's not cheap but you are paying for quality. We've tried a variety of their brownies and other desserts as well as the sausage rolls (best one I've had in years!) you can taste its all home made with a great deal of care. Definately a new favourite and well worth popping in for a treat if you're anywhere near Stoke 👍🏼

One of the best cafés in Plymouth. Extremely friendly, great food (brownies were scrumptious) and delicious coffee. What's not to like? I'll be back next week.

It's so good to have an independent cafe in Stoke. I am slowly working my way through the menu. Today we are trying beetroot cake and salted caramel brownies. I'm sure they will be as yummy as the other things!

This is a great little place with a nice vibe. All the cakes looked appetising and there were options for vegans. We ordered a brownie and a blondie and both were delicious, also the milkshake was divine. Will go back.

This is our new best place to drink coffee and eat delicious naughty stuff , right in the middle of Stoke Village....I know..crazy but true. Always a warm welcome, so thank you both to Ian & Justin (Mel G)

Forget costa and starbucks, this is the real deal. Great coffee and an even better range of cakes. The cakes are mostly brownies and blondies but lots of different flavours on offer. Everything hand made on site. Lovely service too. These three factors, coffee, cakes and service, combine to make visiting a great experience, one you'll never get from a chain. We visited from Aotearoa New Zealand, so I'm sure it'll be more convenient for you to drop by. Make the most of it.

Vanilla Oatshake was very good, defo will be back, its great to see a local coffee shop in Stoke area that caters for people with dairy free/vegan diets. The vegan flapjack and brownie was also good!

I'm not being dramatic when I say that Hungry Bear is home to the best coffee I have ever tasted. The quality of the savoury and sweet foods is incredible. The breakfasts that are offered on the weekends are gorgeous. All this mixed with the lovely staff and the fact that everything is extremely fairly priced makes it an easy place to recommend.
