I
came
on
my
own
without
my
mum
for
the
first
time.
I
was
19
years
old
and
it
was
during
covid
times
so
I
sort
of
expected
the
staff
to
wear
masks
(makes
communication
very
difficult).
The
lady
I
was
sent
to
didn’t
remove
her
mask
and
find
a
visor
even
though
I
was
really
struggling,
and
she
proceeded
to
ask
me
when
I
last
had
new
hearing
aids
fitted.
I
said
around
2018,
and
she
got
very
annoyed
with
me
and
accused
me
of
lying,
as
the
record
she
had
on
the
computer
said
it
was
that
year
I
had
new
ones
(2021).
She
got
very
annoyed
with
me
and
insisted
I
had
new
hearing
aids
this
year,
to
the
point
I
was
crying
out
of
frustration.
Then
she
realised
she
hadn’t
changed
the
record
from
the
last
patient
that
came
to
her,
which
then
confirmed
I
did
in
fact
have
my
last
pair
in
2018.
I
was
crying
and
couldn’t
communicate
properly
with
her
at
all.
They
dealt
with
this
well
and
sent
me
to
the
child’s
hearing
lady
who
removed
her
mask
so
I
could
hear,
and
confirmed
that
my
current
hearing
aids
would
never
help
me
with
severe
hearing
loss,
so
she
booked
me
in
for
the
day
after
to
get
fitted
some
new
ones.
I
feel
like
all
hearing
services
staff
should
be
aware
of
these
barriers
to
communication
(masks)
and
should
accept
and
apologise
if
they
get
something
wrong.
Despite
the
problem
being
sorted
very
well
by
the
other
lady
(i
am
very
very
appreciative),
I
will
still
always
remember
the
First
Lady
and
I
really
hope
no
one
else
has
to
go
through
what
I
went
through.
