My son went in Summer Crash course from August 30th to September 2nd 2022, at Bramley Baths, on the phone I explained to the lady the week before the course that he was in the stage 2, from one of recognise Leisure Centre, on Saturday the same week my son moved to stage 3 class, means that he doesn’t need to use armbands or float or noodles to swim. First day in Bramley Baths, the teacher gave him the noodles and he said no need, in the end of the lesson I talked to her and explained to the teacher but she told me let’s see how he going to progress to move to deep end. The second day the other teacher (man) gave again noodle to my son. Not sure as the teachers can’t see or they don’t know what they are going (that’s a shame). There were about 6 children all mixed in term of level/stage, my son was the one with more experience and two more boys, so everyone could see and some parents commented about that, but because he is black on the last day only two white kids were chosen to move to stage 3, they were not confident as my son was and in deep end you can't use noodles but they were using (my God!) this is too dangerous putting in risk those kids. And my son was classified unfairly with Dolphin 1 (very BAD classification), one of the parents in the reception was very disappointed that my son was wronged for being black, and she added that “your son was doing very well”. Those particular teachers are racists and not professional. I paid the same money that the white parents paid. Next time, put on the leaflet, that “we only need white people money” otherwise be fair with all children. On the following day my son went back to his swimming lesson in Leisure Centre and he was swimming in deep end. Remember, everything you sow you will reap it’s in the bible. Move this kind of paradigm that was created on your mind about black people; everyone going to die, don’t think that your body is eternal.

By far my favourite ever gym and pool. The staff, volunteers and clients are all absolutely lovely and friendly. I feel welcome and looked after, and the facilities are perfect for my needs. Plus there's so much history there. And the architecture and gardens also need to be seen. Only place I've ever thought it was worth the membership fees and I actually look forward to going.

Great place to visit. I learnt to swim here in the 1960s and now my wife goes to pilattes and the gym here. Well maintained and staffed for a local historical landmark. And now to carry on the family tradition, both my granddaughter's are learning to swim here as well. Keep it up, keep it alive.

Brilliant little gym with a beautiful Edwardian style pool. Lots of classes to choose from and the instructors are great fun and lovely people. Great value for money. Would highly recommend. Update: Still a great gym. Love going to the classes and they are getting a load of new equipment at the end of Feb. The new equipment is brilliant.

A well run community swimming pool. We had a great time at the family swim session. It's quite cheap too compared to some other pools. My daughter learned to swim here a few years ago. We found the instructors very knowledgeable.

I've been using the gym here for years & I love it. I wouldn't go anywhere else! The staff are friendly & welcoming. The other members are also friendly & welcoming. I always have a few conversations with people on my visits. The equipment is modern & provides everything you need in a gym. The place is very clean and requires members to clean equipment after each use. The fitness classes are fun and gives the opportunity for socialising & making new friends. I don't use the pool as I'm a rubbish swimmer but the pool is what you'd expect from a swimming baths. Loads of swimming slots for adult only swims.

Building is old but I had swimming lessons here for many years and every instructor I had was great. I have only been to the family fun session a few times but they were pretty good. I think my only complaint would be that whenever you go up the stairs to the viewing area, it’s REALLY warm which sometimes is a good thing but sometimes a bad thing. I have never been to it but it also has a gym and I think a sauna? Anyway the gym looked good and it’s got a nice atmosphere. The last thing I would say is that is next to a big road which makes it accessible and (fairly) easy to get to.

I love this place but the last few times I've been there has been an overwhelming smell of urine in certain sections of the pool. I thought it was a one-off but two times in a row has completely put me off - I felt dirty so had to leave. Is there an issue with the pipes?

Went for a swim recently for the first time in about four years and was really impressed – it felt clean, well-maintained and professionally run. Found both the water and air temperature to be very comfortable. I'm looking forward to returning.

I was really disappointed in our visit yesterday, the water tasted so salty and not a smell of chlorine as you entered the building .. all i could smell was urine while in the pool to the extent it smelt like a public toilet not a public swimming pool. The whole family have this morning complained of having soar throats. So dissatisfied as it's such a beautiful building. On the plus side the staff taking payment couldn't have been more pleasant and helpful.

Turned up to take my daughter to the kids session and says online they are open 11-1 on Sundays but they haven't updated the new timetable and have private session on instead. Now having to go to another pool!

The most disgusting, scummiest pool I’ve ever been to. Changing rooms and pool both absolutely filthy. Sort it out

Went today and was surprised at how cold the pool is, lack of temperature gauge and lack of shower facilities. Maybe more regular cleaning and maintenance could be applied to remedy. Other than that was a pleasant experience.

Our swim group used Bramley for 28 years without issue even helping with the refurbishment of the foyer and making a large contribution towards the disabled pool hoist. Then a new CEO was appointed who evicted us without reason or explanation as to why. He would not enter into any form of talks to try and resolve his discriminatory and unfounded beliefs. Members of staff were also dismissed who didn't agree with his ways. The staff looked forward to our session knowing it would be an easy shift for them. In these current troubled times wouldn't you think that guaranteed regular income would be more than welcomed but apparently not! His actions have caused massive amounts of stress to our committee members in trying to find a new pool that wants our money!

Pool needs a deep clean. Thought my goggles were dirty but they were clear, it was a filthy pool. Drain it entirely clean the bottom and start again. Small changing cubicles.

The facilities, class variety, swim sessions etc... are really good. I think there is a brilliant variety for all ages to get involved with and overall is a brilliant place - especially the soulful Saturday sessions. I have loved the classes and people I've met - its a friendly and supportive atmosphere. Due to a change in circumstances I have had to cancel my membership temporarily for a few months which proved more difficult than finding water in the Sahara desert. Through no fault of BB - Ashbourne management are near on impossible to receive a response from. I had several emails ignored, when I cancelled my direct debit I was inundated immediately with text messages an emails daily increasing the amount owed. Each email they sent was from a 'no-reply' email address. The email address I was given to cancel through never responded to any emails. The number on their website to text 'HELP' didn't work and bounced back every time. Eventually through live chat after over several weeks of ignored emails and texts I was able to speak to a human through the live chat but only once I had answers 10 questions from the robot. There is no contact number to speak to someone directly. I did originally plan to restart my membership later in the year but due to this experience it has put me off returning to BB.

Great place for swimming lessons! Plenty of encouragement for your little ones. My daughter has been swimming there for just under 1 year and has made amazing progress!

A great community venture gym and swimming baths. Dates back to Victorian times. Gym just had a 90k refurb.

Amazing pool, went to the ladies only swim with my auntie and little sister however the only downside is that they wouldnt let my sis in as she was 8 even though she was a confident swimmer and has learned proffessionally. i was allowed as im 13 but as i havent swam in 5 years my sister swims better than i do. other than that they did have make lifeguards but we asked if they could switch and they were really nice and polite about it and switched. lovely staff, will definitely go again.

What an excellent find! I'm absolutely loving Bramley Baths. The swimming tuition is spot on; the bootcamp classes are fun, diverse and at just the right level; the yoga classes are often better than those at some well-established yoga studios; the gym has everything that you need for a full-body workout; the building itself is stunning; the atmosphere is warm and welcoming; every member of staff is friendly; the massage that I had completely sorted out an issue I was having with my leg; and the prices are great. I just wish I'd found this place sooner!
