Alison was recommended to me from a local Facebook page. I have a knee injury which through rest wasn’t getting any better. I decided to see my GP who has put me on a waiting list for physio. In the meantime, whilst waiting for physio, I thought I would try acupuncture. Id never had it before so it was a new experience for me. Meeting Alison was great, I really warmed to her straight away. She put me at ease, and I found her very thorough and professional. She has a wonderful manner, I found her very easy to talk to. I had in total 5 sessions of acupuncture which I felt helped my injury from the start. The swelling and pain was dramatically reduced on the first session, I could not believe the difference. I continued to have a few more sessions to ease it furthermore. I am not totally cured ,and I did not expect to be , but I am much better than I was, and I do feel as though Ive got my life back. I am able to walk and cycle again at a moderate pace and distance. Alison has made a huge difference to my recovery and thanks to her I am hoping that I wont need surgery . To add to this , Alison encouraged me to take organic apple cider vinegar , which I feel helped and I have also done daily appropriate physio exercises for my knee injury which I found on YouTube . Without Alisons help I would not be where I am today, I am so grateful she was recommended to me, I cannot praise her enough!!

I have recently returned from my third visit here receiving acupuncture for an inherited eye condition. I’m so pleased I found One Acupuncture as the treatment I am receiving from Alison has not only stabilized my condition but by having various eye examinations, has shown to have improvised my vision! I can’t thank Alison enough for the belief and hope she has given back to me after my eye specialist suggested that there is no cure or treatment and my vision would worsen. This is an amazing clinic in a beautiful part of the country which adds to relaxing you while having treatment. I was recommended Alison at the One Acupuncture by my Chiropractor. I've suffered constant back pain for years and having been told there was nothing to be done I was willing to try anything. I also have had very bad eczema on my hands for 3 yrs. I've been seeing Alison since January and I cannot believe the difference that I feel in my whole being! I have more energy, lost weight, my hands are healing well and a very painful muscle spasm in my back has gone! I am going through Menopause and my night sweats have got much better and I feel more balanced. Laura is so welcoming and really lovely which puts you at ease, especially as you may not be sure what to expect in your first session. Highly recommend Alison, she is a lovely caring and passionate lady who wants to help people. I wished I had contacted her sooner rather than later. I booked a 15 minute session to discuss my health issues to see if acupuncture would help. After 15 minutes Alison put me at ease and booked me an appointment for that week as I was in so much pain. Laura is very welcoming and the clinic is lovely and clean and beautifully decorated throughout. At my first session, Alison went through what areas she was going to treat, I am not good with needles, but to be honest you hardly feel the needles. 24 hours after my first session my hip pain was more bearable, and I had the best night sleep in 18 months. I have had two more sessions since and my hip pain has gone. The transformation is unbelievable from not being able to walk properly without being in horrendous pain to now walking pain free and also my sleeping pattern is so much better. If anyone is unsure about acupuncture, give it a go, as I was unsure about it but I am now a convert to acupuncture. Thank you so much Alison.

I would definitely recommend Alison at One Acupuncture Clinic. A couple of years ago she provided Chinese herbs to help with neurological problems affecting one eye and after a few months of treatment the problem eye worked well. My second set of treatments were due to left sided neuropathy for which neurologists were unable to agree on a diagnosis, but left me with a weakness down the left side of my body, dizziness and an eye problem again. As the NHS seemed unable to help I contacted Alison again and started the herbs and I started to see some improvement. Alison suggested a course of acupuncture of 10 treatments in a week. I am also an acupuncturist so could clearly see how this approach could help, but even so I wasn't sure how much. I travelled to Devon for the treatment and can only say how thrilled I have been with the outcome. The changes are amazing and although I have some neuropathic feelings, I am getting stronger each day and able to walk properly and go to the gym as I did before the illness. As it stands I am still on the herbs to help my eye fully return to normal, but don't expect this to be for much longer. Thank you Alison for helping me get my life back.

I was recommended Alison at one acupuncture 6 weeks ago to help with my heartburn and general well-being as I was very run down after an awful virus, and wow I am so grateful for her services!! I have been weekly to her clinic, since the start of the year and I have been amazed by the results I have received from my sessions. Alison makes me feel at ease, she is very knowledgeable and explains everything as she does the procedure. At each session she adapts it to how my body is coping and what I need that day. We started a pre birth plan 3 weeks ago as I am due to give birth soon and it has been very stress free and encouraging to receive natural remedies and has just put me at ease and in a good head space ready for the birth. The sessions not only make me feel energised and healthy, they also make me feel light and refreshed. I am amazed after each session how using acupuncture can resolve certain problems, imbalances and feelings in my body. My heartburn, one of worst problems at the moment as near enough gone and and I am grateful for that so much. I took my teenage daughter to see Alison because her acne was bad and starting to affect her confidence. After a course of treatment her skin has improved so much and she is much happier in herself. The difference is amazing and now she only gets occasional hormonal flare ups which are brief. I’ve been experiencing considerable discomfort from Carpol Tunnel Syndrome in my wrist and after only two treatments the pain has eased considerably. Alison has also made a huge difference to a scar I have on my arm, it was raised and now the scar is smooth, I can’t believe she could change its appearance and the way it feels. Alison is so warm and caring and I can’t speak highly enough of her.

Oh my GOODNESS! Where do I even start… my treatment with Laura was INCREDIBLE. I couldn’t recommend this place enough. My skin is glowing & my shoulders & neck have never felt this good. I am so grateful to my acupuncturist for recommending that we go and see Alison at One Acupuncture. I have an autoimmune condition which leaves me susceptible to attacks of optic neuritis, causing a complete loss of vision in both eyes. I experienced my 3rd attack in October of 2022, and underwent an intensive course of steroids, immunosuppressants and blood plasma exchanges; all of which failed to bring about any improvements in my sight. I was being seen by Moorefields, but in the end they decided there was nothing more they could do for me other than ramping up the dosage of steroids, which we were keen to avoid. My local acupuncturist then referred me to see Alison, and I received 2 weeks of intensive treatment with her; 2 sessions a day, at the Barnstaple clinic. Alison is an incredibly kind woman who seems to consume knowledge in an insatiable manner; always taking courses to expand her knowledge on the different areas of acupuncture. Whilst the needling was uncomfortable ( especially in the soles of the feet! ) it certainly seemed to do the trick, and after a few weeks there was a noticeable difference in my vision, and after a month I was cleared by my Doctors to drive again, when I previously did not know whether this would ever be possible again. Whilst I was receiving treatment at the clinic, Laura at reception was so fantastic; providing suggestions for the best local day trips, ice creams and restaurants, and always being a lovely smiley presence. She also gave me 2 facial treatments, and I can honestly say I have never felt so relaxed in my life! I am tempted to make the 3 hour journey just for another one! I truly am so grateful to Alison and Laura, and couldn't recommend the clinic any more to anyone struggling with their health. You will be supported throughout your time with them, and from afar with regular zoom meetings. Thank you!

I cannot recommend Alison enough! Alison is such a caring and passionate person. I met her about 7 months ago when I was at my lowest after suffering a miscarriage. Having had a fear of needles for as long as I can remember, I was apprehensive to give acupuncture a try but I felt it was my last resort as I could no longer cope with the remaining pain. Alison instantly put me at ease from the moment I arrived at the clinic & at every session still checks in with me to make sure I am coping with the needles. Each week my session is tailored to how I am feeling & the symptoms that by body is displaying on the day. Alison’s expanse of knowledge & her ability to pull together & explain her treatment plan is amazing. I have learnt so much from her, it has given me a greater understanding of my body & how to listen to it. I always feel re-balanced & re-energised after my session, I can always guarantee a Thursday will be a positive & productive day. Alison, & her holistic nature, has been a key part in rebuilding myself, not just physically but emotionally too. I am blessed to be 5 months pregnant again and I am so grateful that I have Alison by my side.

Alison is a lovely kind lady with lots of empathy. She is very enthusiastic and knowledgeable about her profession. She treated me with herbal medicine for a dreadful post Covid cough which I had for 7weeks.. 5days and it has completely gone. Also acupuncture for migraine which is also helping.

I have been visiting Alison weekly since starting chemotherapy a couple of months ago. I visit 48 hours after my weekly chemo treatment. Alison is very passionate about supporting cancer patients undergoing Standard of Care (NHS) treatment. Each week we discuss in depth the effects of the chemo, whether it be an emotional, mental or physical reaction. Alison then works to relieve those symptoms. Acupuncture has been without doubt, a fantastic therapy to use alongside chemo. I feel pretty good overall, and each week I can't wait for my session. Alison's enthusiasm and caring approach is second to none, and I am sure I will continue regular visits after my chemotherapy is done.

Alison has been a miracle worker! Alison, the owner of One Acupuncture has helped me with my broken foot! She was able to speed up my recovery time by using red light therapy and muscle stimulation/activation. I found this therapy worked within a few days of going there and over the month it vastly improved my mobility. I was a little unsure about going to see Alison as I didn't think acupuncture would work on a broken bone but I can now say that it was defiantly worth doing for the short and long-term benefit. Acupuncture can do more than I had realised and will be going back for further treatment.

I had only seen Alison for one session and I found that my sleep was greatly improved in the following week. Usually I wake up at 3am every night unless I’m really poorly. But to my surprise I have been going to sleep and waking up to my alarm most mornings. I have also noticed a reduction in pain and fatigue. I’ve had two acupuncture treatments with Alison so far to help with tightness in with my lower back likely caused by an old injury to my glutes. The difference in how it feels now compared to when we started is like night and day. Alison was fantastic, explaining throughout what she was doing and the how the whole process works. The defining point in the treatment for me was when Alison hooked up the acupuncture needle in my glute to her machine and essentially gave it CPR! 5 treatments with Alison have literally changed my life! I was suffering with extreme heat at night. I assumed it was hormonal but Alison diagnosed it was a deficiency caused by my chronic kidney disease. I now feel so much better generally and am now sleeping better and am able to sleep under a duvet for the first time in years, and don't have to freeze my partner with open windows! We are now looking to work on generally supporting my kidneys. I'm so grateful to have found Alison and hope to continue to see her well into the future.
