We found the venue organisation as good as ever. No queuing to gain entry and help available if/when needed. We enjoyed the show very much with its simple setting and excellent, of course, performers in Dave and Martin. The opening by the very talented Sam Barrett was just right for the occasion -no initial introduction just a song first which was redolent of the folk music clubs in the 60's. It was a very enjoyable evening.

The Civic, Barnsley provides great access to all the arts not only for the town but the whole of South Yorkshire. The exhibition space and the team who organise it are second to none. They produce shows that are museum standard.

Absolutely brilliant. This is a superb venue - all facilities were easy access. The only thing that would make it better would be more disabled parking near to venue as Mum is disabled and had to walk up hill and she did struggle.

Had a fantastic night watching Jack Carroll . Firstly let me thank the Civic for investing in a new infa red loop to enable hard of hearing to enjoy every word spoken on stage. Secondly the theatre staff were so friendly and helpful. The Comedy night was great, the warm up guy was very funny ( sausages, toilet visits etc) and impromptu. Jack Carroll didn’t disappoint either, not seen him since Bgt and he's got better and better. It wasn't a large Audience but everyone was in stitches all night. Thanks everyone

Abba Gold, fabulous show, very feel good. Pleased to see disruptive behaviour by an over zealous audience member managed ,politely and professionally enabling her to carry on enjoying the show. Lovely well managed venue. Thoroughly enjoyable evening.

We attended Barnsley Metropolitan Band’s BANDFEST at the Civic on Wednesday 18/10/23 and what a treat it was, featuring Grimethorpe Colliery Band, Grimethorpe Junior Band and Mapplewell & Wellgate Primary. They sounded terrific and we thoroughly enjoyed this super evening and I fully understand now why Grimethorpe Colliery Band has won so many awards. Well done to everyone who entertained us you did a great job. 👌😀👍

Went there to see Zoe Lyons. It was an absolutely amazing show, thoroughly enjoyed it. The civic itself is a very nice and cleanly kept building, the staff are very nice, polite and helpful and the prices for drinks is reasonable.

I booked with two friends to see the wonderful Bookends, a duo singing their interpretation of Simon and Garfunkel's songs. They were amazing and the staff at the Civic helped to make the evening run professionally and smoothly. Will definitely be back!

Barnsley best theatre does it again. The Worst Princess is an adaptation of the book and the actors give it their all. If I could recommend one dhow of the many I have seen this year The Worst Princess would be it. From the moment the show starts you are immersed in the little princesses world along with such harmonious songs and excellent vocals you find it difficult to believe for a small production the theatre group who put this together achieve such big things. My daughter was stuck to her seat and watched the show from beginning to end. She loved it and bought the book as a result. The Civic theatre in Barnsley have always provided excellent facilities and if you ever get opportunity to go the place is a must for families with both young and older children like us.

Attended the Garden Party event on Saturday - absolutely brilliant day. Loads to see and do and the weather was kind too. Great to see the whole centre doing so well and it being so busy with increased footfall and everyone enjoying it. Had a good chat with some staff from the Civic (never been in before) and, as a result, we have booked in for two shows in October. Happy days and looking forward to it.

Just seen Cinderella, it was funny, entertaining. We had a great time! Oh no you didn't, OH YES WE DID. Everyone worked so hard to give all the audience a fabulous time. The meet and greet team also worked hard. Would recommend, you go and see it, the children will love it.

The show was amazing. The cast were funny & a pleasure to listen & watch. The dancers were outstanding. The girl with blonde hair made me & my daughter cry ,she was fantastic. My husband missed a great show due to him being unwell but wasn’t able to fill the seat.

My mum, niece and myself attended and it was brilliant. Definitely something for all ages and a must see. Wonderfully interactive and immerses you into the story. We will definitely be keeping an eye out for future events!

We had a lovely time at the egg and spoon show. The show was a great intro to theatre for the children, both thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It was nice that the team had thought to put a colouring in station out so that they were occupied before the doors opened. The gent delivering the show was fab he made sure everyone was involved and was incredibly talented to keep the little ones entertained for the full performance. I’d highly recommend, can’t wait for the next child friendly show to come to the civic.

Ok. Leg room is a little snug, but it wasn't full so i was able to stretch out sideways (I'm 6ft). Ticket prices very reasonable. Good act. Would recommend visiting.

Attended the Civic during Barnsley Live 2023. Excellent venue for music. Big enough to hold a decent crowd but small enough to get close. Sound and lights were excellent but they overdid the smoke. Thought I was seeing British Sea Power "making smoke".

Lovely venue Saw Show of Hands new show. As usual for these places no Brandy at the Bar. The only other criticism - Security staff NOT NEEDED and the one at the front messing with AND could hear her radio during performance. Totally un necessary to have SECURITY presence AT ALL especially idiot ones as above.

Had a brilliant night at the Motown Concert, the group were very talented in delivering my favourite genre of music, and wow, them dance moves. I also loved how they interacted with the crowd making the night very memorable. Xx

I can safely say we had a good laugh once again I - we , my son and I have been to experience the comedy of zthe Last laugh Comedy show . Three times we have been and we have LOL every time. The Civic has had a make over the recent years which makes the place more modern and visitor friendly . The venue has a bar , and drinks can be paid for and reserved in advance for the intervals. Good venue for comedy shows , and music shows . The civic also has an art Gallery and coffee shop for day time events. You can book for tickets on line or go to the reception and there is always a friendly receptionist to help you book anything you fancy . There is another comedy show coming up in January 2023 .

Awesome night, Joe Zalias was an outstanding compère and the acts were excellent. Pity the ladies in the row behind us felt it ok to chat ALL the way through ALL the acts, perhaps they aught to consider an evening with their peers at Karen's Diner next!

Had a good night seeing Alun Cochrane. Venue was very good! Very friendly and informative staffing greeting on arrival, pleasant bar staff as well. Drinks reasonably priced and a nice relaxed sitting/waiting area. And last but no means least it’s was a very good arena to watch Mr Cochrane!

First time both my partner and I have been to the Civic and wow what a great evening we had.... We're looking to make this a monthly night out and soak up the Barnsley atmosphere... The Barnsley people are so friendly and helpful... what I mean by this is a lovely lady helped us find the Civic who was out with her partner.... What a lovely thing to do... We would highly recommend you visit the venue if you like a good laugh..... 🤣🤣🤣

Went to watch a comedy gig here which was very good. However the seating wasn't very rigid and there was somebody in our row who decided (for reasons unknown) to throw themselves backwards every few minutes with such force it would jolt me out of my seat. I suffer from a bad back and while the small vibrations from normal movement was tolerable the force I felt wasn't that far from whiplash. I appreciate this was due to the actions of another audience member, but does appear to be a flaw in the seating arrangement that made my visit uncomfortable and painful.
