It’s been years since I went to a drive in but after visiting this I’ll be going back soon. Tickets were cheap and they had a variety of different films. They had a snack bar with candy, fresh popcorn, soda, and some other small dishes. Good nostalgic old school drive in theaters!

On this day, all 3 screens were not working correctly. And the movies started 25 minutes late instead of starting the movies from the beginning. The staff had no clue on what to do. And when I asked to speak to a manager. They said he wasn't available, and they were not gonna give refunds. I want to speak to a manager and not get a phone number where the line sounds busy. I will be reviewing this place on all media I can.

I absolutely loved coming here. I’ve been here many times. Tonight was the first night we were turned off from this place. There was one attendant in particular that seemed to be on a power trip tonight. She was on the phone but also trying to direct “traffic” to the other side of the ticket booth when we arrived. Her attitude was very clearly negative already. We continued to our movie and got comfortable. The same was woman instructed the car that had their trunk open next to us to move about 5 minutes into the movie and instructed us to move about 10 minutes after that. At this point there were not many places for us to park that were not blocked by vehicles that did have their trunks open. She managed her evening very poorly and ultimately poorly effected my evening. If there is a rule that certain height vehicles need to be in a specific location than please make that more apparent.

I enjoy this theatre. The restrooms are clean and the snack bar is good. Its Its only $10 for 2 films. Lines at the snack bar can be really really long before the films start and people have the tendency to turn their bright lights on during films.

Great experience this time! The staff actually moved all the big dumb cars to the back where they were supposed to be all along. Made it much easier to actually see the screen and enjoy. Watched both movies back to back and the radio broadcast was strong and clear.

Been here a few times for movie dates with the Boo and we’ve always had a great time. Prices are great and I love being able to bring food and drinks without having to sneak them in. Screens are a good size and the layout of the 3 theaters works well.

My boyfriend and I decided to do a date night with a movie at a drive-in theatre and had the choices between South Bay or the Santee drive-in. Due to the showtime options and the movie selection, we ended up at South Bay. - PARKING - Each screen has its own groupings of parking spots where they are on a sloped incline so that you're never blocked by another car in front of you. We went on a Thursday night at 8:15pm for an 8:30pm showing and it wasn't crowded at all. - SERVICE/ENVIRONMENT - When you first get into the lot, you will pay the attendant the fee per person ($10 adults/$1 children). You let him know which movie/movie time you'd like to see, and he gives you a receipt that tells you the radio station to tune into. He might have given us wrong directions as he told us to turn left for screen 2, but we ended up having to turn right, so just follow the numbered signs after paying. Due to the amazing deal of $1 for children, there were definitely kids running around and screaming, although luckily once the movie started it wasn't too bad. There's a concession stand in the middle back, where I assume the bathrooms are as well. - EXPERIENCE - It was very easy to tune our car radio into the proper station and sit back and relax. We brought our own snacks to be in the comfort of our car the entire time. There were a few cars that rolled in late, so their headlights were a bit distracting, but nothing crazy to complain about. They say that your payment can be used for 2 movies, so you could technically stay after the first showing. However, our screen showed the same movie twice, so we left after it was done. That's an amazing deal if you happen to plan your night around seeing 2 movies for $10! - OVERALL - A great experience overall that I would highly recommend to anyone who hasn't tried a drive-in theatre yet. Try to look out for showtimes to get that 2 movies for the price of 1 deal!

I love this drive in! I've brought my children and their friends and now I'm bringing my grandkids and going with my adult children and also bringing daycare children. Best family/wallet friendly activity. The kids love it and if you can't handle being robbed at regular movie theater concession stands this is awesome. Also a great alternative if you're worried about sharing germy air space at regular theaters.. Each screen has its own radio station to tune in to for the sound. There are 3 different screens here. Look online to see which movies they are playing. Just Google Southbay Drive-in. Usually 2 movies on each screen. Sometimes a repeat of the same movie on the same screen if it's popular. You can bring whatever snacks and food and drinks in your car that you want. You can also go to the concession stand and get the traditional movie snacks. They also have carne asada nachos. Also. Some people bring chairs to place in front of their vehicle to watch the movie instead of sitting inside their vehicle. Definitely a must to do with your family at least once.

Sound and picture were good. Popcorn was a bit cold for the first show of the night. I tried to park close but I was waved back due to my "Large" Tacoma. The result was the first three rows were completely empty and I could barely see the screen. Overall it was worth 10$ a person (plus food).

Can't beat the price. You get to see two movies for $10 per person. It's nice to see families spending time together, getting their chairs out of the car, and setting up to share a delicious meal while watching a movie. I have to confess, always buy something from outside to enjoy, except for the popcorn. The churros are OK while warm. Check their website for information ( South Bay Drive In).

Just saw that the Santee Drive In is closing. And although I never attended that Drive In. I do attend South Bay's Drive-In. They're amazing and they're the best Movie going experience for myself and my family. I hope they never close down and this is a sad reminder that we need to support the businesses we appreciate most.

Great place to see a movie! Sharp digital picture & sound. Clean & family friendly. FREE for kids 4 and under! $1 for kids over 4! You can see 2 movies for less than the price of 1, and the shooting stars are free!! *Southbay please bring back the old food menu you used to have or at least add back a few of the old items. We miss being able to have a real dinner at the snack bar.

Actually great audio quality through the radio. Nice staff. Parking spaces have an incline so when you park your seat is comfortable and the view is good.

We watched Black Panther and most of the movie was dark. I went to the movie theater the next day and realized I missed half the movie. I do not recommend. It was a waste of money for my family and I... at least for this movie.

Price is GREAT! Very upset they changed showing of movie from 7 to midnight!!!! It was what we specifically went to see, would have been nice to have a notice online. Turned and went home. Will go back another time.

If you leave your window open the mosquitoes will go inside the car. if you hang outside you will have mosquitoes bites I really don't like bugs specifically when watching a movie .

Been coming here for years. Love the swap meet and the theater at night. Good place to go on a date or to just chill and watch a movie and eat adobada fries in your car.

Going to the drive-in when I was a kid was fun. Taking my kid to the drive-in was priceless! It was cool to be outside but not outside and around people without being around people. The bathrooms were rough, and I'm not sure what was going on at the snack bar but we enjoyed ourselves.

Love this drive-in theater! They always have the new movies, nachos, popcorn and snacks are legit and you can see two shows easily. We’d go with the kids and they’d fall asleep by the time the second movie started so we could watch in peace. The swap meet is great too, always busy and has tons of options.
