I have been treated with kindness, attentiveness, compassion and a genuine desire to help me from every single employee I have encountered here. I came here on vacation and have been treated better and gotten more help at this hospital than any of the “major” hospitals around me in the DC area. Everyone — doctors, nurses, my surgeon, the techs, everyone was kind and patient and respectful. They took time to understand what I am dealing with and the best way to help me. As a person in recovery, I have experienced being treated with immediate suspicion, and often outright disgust and hostility as a matter of course at other hospitals, and that never — not once, from anyone — was my experience here. I can’t explain how humanizing that was to me. That, despite my history, I deserved care and compassion just like anyone. Seriously, I might just drive the three hours out here from DC just for the patient care. Thank you Atlantic General!

I took my boyfriend to the emergency room tonight around 2:30 AM, for severe stomach pain and other various ailments. They got us in as soon as they checked us in, and had him in a hospital bed instantly. The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating, making sure that he was comfortable. I was worried originally because of some of the other reviews, but I was so relieved with the treatment that my boyfriend got when we got here.

If you’re truly dying then i guess it’s okay to go here, but the service is terrible. The demeanor of the workers were unprofessional and made you feel judged for coming in. They used your situation as amusement as you can hear their giggles like high school girls. The receptionist asked very rhetorical questions during a time of need, and seemed to have no patience when we were simply trying to answer her unneeded question. Thank you and Goodnight

I had an occasion to use this hospital recently while vacationing in Ocean City, MD and I was mighty glad that they were there. They were able to stabilize the pain (make it go away) and, while their procedures were not the same as I had become accustomed to in a larger hospital near my home, they got the job done! I was able to return to my vacation home after 3 days (instead of my normal 5). Yes, I read the reviews while I was recovering and they were discouraging. But, I, also, discovered that this is a very small hospital (only 56 beds) and that is SMALL! But, their staff were friendly, nursing, doctors, techs…all were friendly and easy going! While I would hope to never use this hospital(while I am vacationing) again, I am GLAD they were there when I needed them! THANKS for a WELL DONE job, AGH!

During our summer vacation in August 2020, our son had an accident that needed stitches on his lip. We rushed to Atlantic General Hospital. Even during the pandemic, the staff were friendly and allowed both parents to go back. The Physician Assistant who treated us was Karen Mull. Our son is deathly afraid of needles and didn’t want stitches. Karen involved him in all aspects of the visit. And made him feel at ease and in control even while getting the sutures. Thank you Karen for your AMAZING bed side service and for making a difficult situation so much easier for our family!! We have worked in healthcare for 20 years and know how hard it can be. Thank you!!

The nurse that was walking me back to my room walked so fast I lost her. I was in a lot of pain so I couldn’t keep up with her, but she didn’t seem to care Random people kept coming in and asked me the same question over and over while I was crying in pain - I would literally answer the question and they were asking the same question again - they weren’t listening Took x-rays in my report actually says that because my x-rays were performed outside of normal working hours. A Specialists will provide final interpretations of the studies on the following day. However a nurse or a doctor I don’t know what they were told me my x-rays are fine The room is absolutely filthy including a cap to a needle on the foor

We had a wonderful experience! My father was admitted after he had a stroke. All the staff are so kind, especially the MRI imaging ladies that worked with him-They made him feel comfortable and talked through the process of both MRIs he had done. They helped put his mind at ease during the stressful time. Great hospital!

I’m here now waiting for my Dad to be seen. He’s 77 years old. Fever 104. Severe stomach pain. We’ve been waiting for 2 1/2 hours now. No one should have to wait this long. Thinking about calling 911 and giving the emergency room address so they can come get him and deliver him to the ambulance entrance!!

Not a good experience at all. Was in OC for a couple of weeks and I developed a severe toothache. My face was so swollen that I knew I had to head to the ER. The Doctor pretty much told me that I would have to go across the bridge to get Dental care. I was very concerned about the infection. He did say I had an abscess. When asked if he could give me something for the pain he said Advil will pretty much take care of it. He did end up giving me a stronger pain med. Dr J Greenwood needs to learn more about infections. I was able to get in to see a Dentist the next day. That was with no help from Dr Greenwood. The dentist said my situation was very dangerous and he put me on a potent antibiotic and stronger pain meds right away. His office called me the next day to checkup on me. That’s huge in my book! A follow up call shows a caring and concerned Doctor. Thank you Dr Ashwin at Fenwick Dental for helping me out with the ER did not. Laurie M

Me and my family were in a car accident on our way home from Maryland. There were 7 of us in the car and 6 of us were injured in some way. The ambulance driver out right told us they don’t want us going to the hospital because there is to many of us and they don’t want to call for another ambulance. When we got to the hospital, they were rude and very inexperienced. I took a few ems classes so I know the basics of what should have been done. My sister, nephew, and I all had cuts on us and they didn’t even clean them nor bandage them. All 7 of us hit our heads off the airbags and only one of us were checked at the hospital for a concussion. I had a chunk of the inside of my lip missing and my chin was cut. I had dried blood all over my lips and chin. The least they could have done was clean my mouth to get the blood off. But instead they looked at it and said “you’ll be ok and you’ll be sore tomorrow” in plain words. My mom who had chest pain did get an x ray after she had to ask for one. And my sister, the driver who got most of the impact, had a deep cut in her arm and a swollen nose. She very well could’ve had an injury to her nose but the doctor didn’t even mention an X-ray to her. Needless to say, I don’t recommend this hospital.

I'm getting five stars for one reason and one reason only the ICU has a nurse named Mike he is the best nurse I've ever seen in my life and in 44 years I've spent 44 of them in hospitals all across the east coast and I've never seen a nurse as dedicated and sweet and kind to his patients as Mike and I really thank God every time that I see him for people like him in the hospital he took great care of my mother. If i could give 100 stars I would. I will say if this was about Dr. Wild in the ER I would have put a negative infinity. That's the most dismissive and worse patent care i have ever seen by a doctor. I can't stress that he shouldn't work at any hospital. He was sneaky with my mother and tried to do things she was unhappy and it was unsafe. His answer when i made him talk to me was"I don't care no one had ever died of pain" and left after yelling at me. I hope that meat him some day outside the hospital and we can test his pain theory. God luck doctored not all of us care very much that money rules hospitals sooner of us really live their families and thank God my mother went quickly to the icu. A nurse actually went out my mom's car because she didn't like what he did. Then i had to call a patient advocate for her.

While on vacation in Ocean City my husband started experiencing unbearable pain, I literally googled the nearest hospital, which lead us to Atlantic General Hospital…. The staff were amazing, friendly and so understanding… He was seen super fast, the doctor removed his appendix and got us back to enjoying our vacation within 7 hours ! Grateful and thankful for everyone who helped us ❤️

12/10 hospital, staff, and nurses. My mother got severely ill while on her vacation to Ocean City, Maryland. With me being 6 + hours away, it was hard to understand the severity of the situation. I traveled to be with her because I wasn’t sure how long we would have with her. I’ll spare you all the details, but long story short, nobody thought she was going to make it out of that hospital alive. She was at this hospital for 3 days and was transported to another hospital to continue her much needed care. While we were there, the ICU doctors and nurses were excellent. I especially want to give a special shoutout to Mike and Sonia in the ICU department. They were very caring, they explained everything we needed to know, they let us cry to them, kept us informed of everything they were planning to do. Without them and the excellent team of doctors, my mother wouldn’t be alive today. They were literally a Godsend and we can’t thank all of the ICU staff, especially Mike and Sonia. If you ever get sick or severely injured while on vacation, GO TO THIS HOSPITAL!!! They are so knowledgeable and very professional. Our family thanks all of you for everything you did for my mother. Mike and Sonia deserve the highest honor imaginable! We thank you for helping us through the most difficult time of our lives and helping my mother. We can not express how thankful we are for the both of you and your whole team at Atlantic General Hospital.

On November 28, 2023 at about 9pm, my daughter and I checked into the ER due to my daughter having difficulty swallowing. We were seen quickly and met with William Wild, DO who talked to and examined her. His examination took all of 30 seconds and he assured her that she could swallow (wasn’t drooling or choking on saliva) and referred her to a gastroenterologist for further testing. We explained to him that she recently completed chemotherapy and this issue came on quickly. Once again, he said testing wasn’t available in the ER and mentioned gastroenterologist and possibly a neurologist. The next day, we contacted our oncologist in Towson, MD and drove 3 hours to have her examined at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Within 2 minutes, she found thrush that was impacting her ability to consistently swallow. She was prescribed Nystatin and was assured it would start to clear in a few days. Dr. Wild was dismissive and failed to conduct a proper and thorough exam. There is a saying here in the Berlin area, “Go across the bridge” in order to receive proper medical care. Dr. Wild only confirmed as to why that mantra exists. Eastern Shore healthcare leaves a lot to be desired and Dr. Wild did nothing to change that opinion. Be better, do better.

Megan, RN in the ER This was amazing! She was a Godsend. I’m so grateful for her kindness and professionalism during a very difficult time. The CT tech was also professional and empathetic. They both were a ray of light after a less than pleasant triage nurse.

I transferred on of my deaf clients from TidalHealth Peninsula Regional to AGH. As soon as we got to the ER we got a room. 20 minutes later a head CT, xray, EKG and bloodwork. All of this was within 1 hour. We were really just waiting on results from everything. After receiving the results about 45 minutes later turns out she did in fact have a mini stroke. We were in and out of there in less than 3 hours. I wish we went here first instead of TidalHealth.

My experience was not good. #1no cell phone service, #2very cold room #3Blood pressure monitor was squeezing my arm terribly #4Apond leaving the emergency facility and returning home, I noticed the blue application for monitoring my vitals in the ambulance were still stuck on both legs and on right and left chest area. These aren't major complaints but still not đź’Ż percent acceptable. Thank you for your service!!

Visited this hospital on my last day at Ocean City, MD because I had a severe bout of vomiting that came on suddenly. When I began vomiting bile, I became more concerned since I had a prior bowel obstruction in February with a similar episode. Upon arrival at the ER at 3 am I was greeted in a friendly manner and was promptly seen by admitting RN. From there, I was given a bed and intake began. The entire staff including Juliana and Dr Forestall were very efficient and caring. I was thoroughly evaluated and properly cared for in a professional and compassionate manner. My friend who accompanied me who works at our local hospital even complemented how efficient everything went in the ER. Thanks to the entire staff for a job well done.❤️

I would like to thank Dr. Willis and staff for all of his knowledge and compassion while I was in the emergency room. He put me at ease and answered all my questions on the tests he performed. I wish he was a GP doctor as I would travel 7 hours to see him. Thank you so much for having a doctor like Dr. Willis on your staff. Many thanks - Joan Goncalves

I was in the ER, 8/12/23. Under the circumstances, a Saturday in August on a good beach day, the service was as best, it could be. Staff very caring. Terribly busy. I've known the Doctor since about 2005. Always very good. BUT, I am shocked at the maintenance conditions of the building itself. Very dirty bathrooms & overall neglect of proper upkeep. Walls need plastering & paint. Floors need refinishing! Looks terribly run down. All the money spent on the new building on Rt 589, should be spent to take care of our Hosital. I'm ashamed it looks so bad.

I cannot thank the staff of this hospital enough! I was on vacation with my family & had a mini stroke. The doctors & nurses took amazing care of me & were so compassionate to the fact I was 6 hours away from home. They also found a possible hole in my heart that I would have never known existed! We vacation at ocean city every year & I know my life can be trusted with the amazing staff at AGH!

In and out on a Monday afternoon. My father cut himself and needed to get the bleeding stopped. (We were on vacation) In and out in 1 1/2 hrs. I'd say that is excellent for a medical center. The ER PA K Mccabe was super nice. Next time I won't waste time going to an urgent care clinic, and I'll just go straight here. Very nice staff all around.

My mom was seen at the AGH ER today. All staff were helpful and efficient. The ER team including Dr. St. Pierre and Kathy, the nurse on duty were not only excellent clinicians but were kind and gentle with an elderly person who did not feel well. We truly appreciate their wonderful care and kindness.

I can’t say enough great things about Atlantic General Hospital. They took such great care of our 2 year old who was seen twice while we were on vacation. The nurses were so compassionate and caring. Thank you for all you did for our baby girl!

Had a really bad experience at this hospital today. My son has been running fevers for 5 days. His pediatrician said that we should return to the ER or Urgent Care by Sunday or Monday if is symptoms hadn’t improved. So we followed the pediatricians orders and returned today. The doctor totally dismissed my concerns, wouldn't do any additional testing to help us get to to the bottom of this because at that moment on ibuprofen and Tylenol he didn’t “look sick,” and was condescending when he said, “You’ve now seen 4 providers who have all told you this is just a virus.” He made me feel like my concerns for my son were not valid. I will never return to this hospital and won’t recommend to anyone else. Wish I had just gone to an urgent care.

I was very pleased with my visit to the Atlantic Central Hospital Emergency Room. I was seen almost immediately, my health concerns were taken seriously and testing was done with no delay upon arrival. I was able to be seen and treated in less than 4 hours. I was treated with respect by all members of the care team. I would like to note however, the IV kits the nurses have to use are not easily maneuvered. They do not include extension tubing which causes pinching, discomfort to the patient and most importantly, overall difficult for the staff to use. This is no fault that of their own, however a barrier for the nurses and support staff providing quality patient care. Hopefully there is a solution to this issue that management can address.

Awful went on with burns on hand was given a motrin and pretty much told they would be fine in few days. Woke up next morning with swollen hands and blisters, was never given a cream and they were never wrapped .

update: Instead of trying to correct this information. The representative inserted my signature from another document onto a billing statement that I know for a fact I did not sign. Trying to trick customers is not okay. FALSE BILLING INFORMATION! Was provided one number and was charged 10x that after services provided. Hospital takes advantage of patients and charges what they see fit without giving accurate amount ahead of time. Don’t use services here unless you want to me ripped off.

I went in the hospital with shortness of breath. I had covid, dbl pneumonia, blood clots and a partially collapsed lung. I was in a coma for 6 days. My experience with agh was top notch. I felt they really took care of me. Had some minor issues, like the food is edible, not good. But otherwise, I felt I was taken care of.

I went in with obvious swelling down my left side. The triage nurse could feel it through all of my clothes, but of course when I get into a room the PA couldn't even see it. Save your time and money. AGH stands for ain't gonna help.

My God nothing but Angels!! From Er finding out what was wrong with me and getting me into surgery early next day was a blessing. Dr Zariff was amazing his whole team in clouding Daniel. Mrs Karen Kelli Ann Alexis Tananya Bailey all the nurses and techs really cared made me feel so comfortable. Mrs Violet in housekeeping was awesome and the most generous person was George. Originally from icu but I was fortunate enough to have him take care of me for three days I was there. He’s really awesome. I just wanna thank everyone for all your love and support that I was able to make it back home to my family. You all are the best! Continue to do great works I appreciate each and every one of you

I want to commend the staff that was on duty last night 9/6 from 10pm to 2am. From the receptionist, to the security guard, to the nurses at the nurse’s station and especially, Vanessa, the tech, everyone was kind, accommodating, as well as competent. I came to sit with a friend during the night and the staff was professional and made me feel very welcomed. Thanks AGH, for all you do!
