My
husband
and
I
had
a
wonderful
experience
taking
Root
and
Bloom's
hypnobirthing
class
with
Crystal
Lyon
as
the
facilitator.
This
is
our
first
baby
and
we
plan
to
deliver
at
Mountain
Point
hospital
in
Lehi,
UT
with
a
midwife
under
the
supervision
of
a
doctor.
I
was
interested
in
taking
the
class
because
my
sister
has
had
4
babies
unmedicated
using
hypnobirthing.
She
had
learned
about
it
in
a
college
psychology
class
20
years
ago
and
when
she
started
having
babies
15
years
ago,
she
decided
to
practice
it.
Her
husband
frequently
says
she
makes
birthing
look
easy
(using
hypnobirthing).
I
was
interested
to
learn
about
it,
but
still
felt
a
lot
of
fear
about
the
upcoming
birth
experience.
Learning
with
Crystal
and
regularly
practicing
birth
meditation
rehearsals
have
helped
me
to
transition
from
feeling
fear
to
feeling
empowered.
One
of
my
affirmations
I
learned
from
the
class
is
"I
will
accept
whatever
turn
my
birth
takes."
Our
birth
plan
is
to
use
low
medical
intervention,
but
if
we
require
a
medical
intervention
due
to
emergency,
I
now
feel
at
peace
at
that
possibility,
too,
thanks
to
the
techniques
learned
in
the
class.
I'm
an
analytical
thinker
with
deep
experience
in
history
education.
I
benefited
a
great
deal
from
learning
about
the
British
gentleman
who
Marie
Mongan
studied.
I
can't
remember
his
name,
but
in
the
early
20th
century,
he
provided
birth
care
for
well
to
do
British
women
who
severely
suffered
during
child
birth.
Then
he
was
surprised
by
the
experience
of
impoverished
women
who
delivered
their
babies
with
little
to
no
pain.
His
work
influenced
Marie
Mongan's
method.
I
also
benefitted
from
learning
about
the
anatomy
of
how
the
uterus
muscles
function
during
labor
and
why
relaxing
and
breathing
through
surges
(contractions)
is
more
beneficial
than
tensely
pushing
as
portrayed
in
the
movies.
Learning
the
scientific
why
behind
the
method
helps
me
and
the
class
is
designed
to
deliver
that.
I
also
appreciated
being
able
to
take
the
class
with
my
husband
who
has
learned
the
essential
role
of
the
birth
partner
in
the
hypnobirthing
method.
Now,
he
will
be
an
important
actor
in
the
arrival
of
our
baby
instead
of
sidelined.
He
also
wrote
and
recorded
a
personalized
relaxation
narrative
for
me
patterned
after
some
of
the
narratives
we
learned
about
in
class.
It
has
already
become
a
special
family
memory
and
I'm
grateful
to
be
able
to
use
it
when
the
day
comes.
Now
that
I've
been
learning
this
method
and
talking
about
it
with
friends,
I've
learned
about
others
in
my
circle
who
have
used
it.
Many
of
them
have
shared
that
their
birth
experience
was
the
most
deeply
spiritual
experience
of
their
life.
I'm
looking
forward
to
a
deeply
spiritual
experience,
regardless
of
the
turn
our
birth
takes.
Many
thanks
to
Crystal
for
giving
us
the
tools
to
anticipate
such
a
joyful
experience
and
to
feel
empowered
to
navigate
whatever
turn
it
might
take.
PS:
Crystal's
snacks
were
healthy
delicious
and
I
loved
the
charm
of
the
historical
building
where
we
met.
