4/3/2022 - Took advantages of the winter end sale, up to 40% off on snow gear. I bought the last Giro Aria Spherical helmet for almost half off and some snowboarding pants for 34% off, very happy with the sale. But when I got home and try on the pants one more time, I found out that Sports Basement staff forgot to take off the clothing security tag. I will need to go back for that...

This is the biggest sports store I've ever been in by far. They have everything. Good to great quality brands in swimming, skiing, camping, outdoor wear, bicycles, skateboards, shoes, helmets, baseball and much more. You'll need at least an hour there to figure out what you want to buy because you'll get distracted with other things you want but didn't go there for.

My wife wanted an e-bike. We met with Mike and told us about the bike. She test drove it but felt we should check other ones. She really felt comfortable on this one so we went back the next day. We had Fernando helping us. Both were very knowledgeable of the product. We bought the bike. Fernando assisted us with helmets and accessories. Great place and everyone is friendly! Would recommend to anyone!

Great selection, organized so to make it easy to find what you are looking for. Love that SB gives back to the community. I volunteer with a local non-profit and love that SB offers a conference room, fully furnished.

NATASHA was absolutely FANTASTIC!!! I was shopping for shoes, and totally unfamiliar with the wide selection of styles and features. Natasha approached me and was incredibly friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, informative - very impressive. She answered all questions, was patient and available but not pushy, and explained details and benefits I would never have known without her expertise. Because of her, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Sports Basement - and I got the perfect shoes I was hoping for! Thank you Natasha!

I had a pair of skis mounted with the Redwood City Sports Basement. Despite them initially mounting the bindings in the wrong location, they took responsibility for their mistake and I was overall still happy with the experience. When I brought in a new pair of skis to be mounted, I had requested them to be mounted 4cm back from the center core line. Since this was a custom mount location, I wanted to be sure this was done correctly. I drew a line in pencil (on the skis) where this location was. It was also clearly written out on the notes for the ski mount. The skis were ready after ~1 week, which I thought was a very reasonable turnaround time. However, when I picked them up I found that the bindings were mounted in the wrong location. They were mounted on the "boot center" mount, which is the traditional mount for the skis. This was 4cm off from the mount I indicated, which is quite significant. Furthermore, skis have a limit to how many times they can be mounted and this mistake compromises the future of the skis. I worked with Phil to fix this issue. He was very apologetic for the situation and acknowledged the mistake. Sports Basement then re-mounted the bindings in the correct location within several days. I also received a gift card and a wax on the skis before I took them home. Overall, Sports Basement messed up here. This was an expensive pair of skis and the custom mount was clearly indicated in several ways. However, I recognize mistakes happen. I was impressed with how Phil dealt with my situation and handled the issue.

Super helpful employees! Helped me pick up an online order I placed yesterday, the very next day. I was excited to replace my old, reliable sneakers after 3 years of running in them. If you’re buying new shoes, you can bring your old pair to donate here. Come here for your sports-related needs!

Lindsay was super helpful in helping me get set up with the proper ski boots, and skis. She was also very helpful in answering my numerous questions regarding fit, stiffness, etc, and she took the time to understand how I skied and my needs and concerns with the skis. She also made it a priority that I was comfortable and knew how the ski would feel relative to previous skis I have used past seasons.

Sports Basement has truly impressed me with their exceptional service and wide selection of off-season snowboards and gear. As an avid snowboarding enthusiast, I understand the importance of finding the right equipment to enhance my performance on the slopes, and Sports Basement has exceeded my expectations in every way. First and foremost, the staff at Sports Basement are knowledgeable, friendly, and genuinely passionate about winter sports. They eagerly provided me with expert advice and guidance, ensuring I made the perfect choices for my off-season snowboarding needs. Their expertise was invaluable in helping me select the ideal snowboard, bindings, and accessories to suit my style and skill level. What truly sets Sports Basement apart is their impressive range of off-season snowboarding gear. Despite it being out of season, they maintain a vast inventory of high-quality boards from renowned brands, ensuring that snowboarders like myself can find the latest models and designs. I was delighted to discover an extensive collection of discounted items, making it possible to get top-notch equipment at a fraction of the original price. Moreover, Sports Basement's commitment to customer satisfaction is second to none. The store provides ample space to try out the equipment, allowing me to test different snowboards and find the one that felt perfect for me. The staff was patient and accommodating throughout the process, offering their insights while giving me the freedom to make my own decisions. Another aspect that impressed me about Sports Basement was their attention to detail and dedication to customer convenience. The store was well-organized, making it easy to browse through their wide selection of snowboards, boots, helmets, and other gear. Additionally, their online platform was user-friendly, enabling me to explore their inventory from the comfort of my home and make an informed decision before visiting the store. Lastly, the prices at Sports Basement were incredibly competitive, especially considering the high quality of their products. Not only did I find the snowboard of my dreams, but I also managed to snag some incredible deals on accompanying gear, allowing me to save a significant amount of money without compromising on performance or durability. In conclusion, Sports Basement is a snowboarding enthusiast's paradise even during the off-season. The employees here are wonderful and helpful! Store has a lot in stock compared to other places. Parking lot is spacious. If you sign up for a membership , they donate to the place you choose through their long list. And you get a discount! Thumbs up to this place!

We love shopping at Sports Basement, and our dog loves it there too. Prices and quality are great. But recently I had a disappointing experience with on-line ordering. I ordered a pack cover, which was out of stock in the stores. Free shipping was offered to our house, so I took advantage of that. It turns out that UPS delivered to the Redwood City store, and then a DoorDash driver delivered the item to our house. All for something that cost ~$30 and weighs a few ounces. I think that SB lost money on this transaction, and I felt guilty about the environmental impact. Had I known ahead of time, I would have opted for store pick-up.

Just got a snowboard with shoes and bindings tonight, I got tons of quality tips on the gear, the folks over there know what they are talking about and are very friendly and willing to help you find the best and most appropriate gear. I had not changed my board for over 20 years, but was happy to know that the brands I like (Salomon and Flow) are still there and making good stuff. Thanks a lot Lindsey and everyone over there for the help.

Excellent selection of sporting goods. Knowledgeable staff. If you are a member ($25 one-time fee) you receive 10% off purchases (including Patagonia, Hoka, etc.). Sports Basement sponsors many community activities and are a good company to support.

Had an issue that required lots of additional leg work and I was blessed to be partnered with Niles, Morgan, and Emma on the Help Hub Team online. Solved all my problems and answered all of my questions. Plus the conversation was extremely entertaining. Y'all got a great group of people over there and I'm very appreciative. Thank you all!

We went to shop for snowboards and accessories since it’s on winter sale. The overall experience was great! Despite that it was pretty busy at that time, the staff still helped us check product stock and placed orders from other stores. I was able to get my board, boots, bindings all at 40% off - it’s just sweet!

It was my/our first visit to Sports Basement, because my daughter wanted a bicycle for her health and her birthday. When we arrived on a Saturday mid-afternoon, the bike department seemed a bit busy but at the same time a little disorganized and nobody approached us offering help. When a tech/salesperson finally came to help us, I imagine he was able to help my daughter because she chose a nice Cannondale bicycle for herself. While I fretted about the cost, her salesperson at the end mentioned the 10% discount by joining the base-something-or other that took a bit of the sting off the cost.

If you are in the market for new shoes, I highly recommend coming to this store. I am a notoriously indecisive person. James helped me and was extremely patient with me. I told him what I needed and he helped me try on a dozen shoes. Not only did he pick shoes out for me, he helped me loosen them and made sure the fit was right for me. He watched me walk, to make sure my ankles weren't coming out to much . He checked that I had the right type of support for my foot. Double checked the width and size for me with each shoe I tried on. He is an amazing employee and I would definitely go back to sports basement, especially for their FANTASTIC customer service. THANK YOU JAMES!!!

I am mainly there for the bike shop dept. The crew there are knowledgeable, friendly and they go above and beyond . I’ve stopped going to my LBS for any mechanical issues. I head straight to SB in RWC. The attention to detail is exceptional. I left my bike for a simple fix since I didn’t have the tools myself, and it was fixed with a cleaning and lubed chain. I really appreciate the extra mile when I drop off my bike for them. Thank you Brian, Tyler, and crew.

First I was interested in the Redwood City store location because I'm considering using the Ski Bus from there. Finding store was not a problem and it was a fairly short ride from my home. Second, the inventory of everything is huge. Tried on a few snow pants as an employee was readily available and helpful with the fitting room. Another employee helped me find some belts. I managed to find pants with 40% off in the big sale on clothes. Overall a pretty good experience.

Had the good luck to receive a Peninsula Clean Energy E-Bike rebate. Jack helped me with the exact model I had hoped to find. Seamless process- 6 months free maintenance, free build. Sports Basement is second to none.

We have been in the store twice in the past two weeks. Both times the staff have been amazing. They were patient and very helpful. And when one staff could not find exactly what we wanted another staff came to help out. We made purchases here both times although we were thinking about going to another sports store to compare. It was not necessary. Your employees know the meaning of customer service.

With each visit to the Redwood City Sports Basement, I've become increasingly impressed. We've been coming to this location for the past several years, primarily to rent ski gear, and the staff has been incredibly friendly and helpful (most recently Isaac, Dakota and Daniel), even letting me pick up early to accommodate my schedule. Unfortunately, on the last day of our ski trip this week, my skis were taken/stolen, which added more frustration on top of an already stressful few days. When we came home the next day, I drove straight to the store to return the rest of our gear and explained the situation to Ali. He quickly consulted with the manager/owner and she immediately authorized a complete return so did not charge me for the loss. Thank you Tiffany for the amazing customer service, which totally relieved my anxiety! I will continue to shop here for all of our sporting needs and will recommend your store at every opportunity!

Purchased my Aventon ebike online but had an issue when trying to get my rebate in-store (long story short, I got a discount code for an ebike through a county program). Joshua was able to work it out and even got me a better deal for my money. Super awesome. It was my first time doing business with Sports Basement and I’m happy to say their staff was really helpful and go out of their way to make sure your needs are met or you don’t go home disappointed (albeit I had to wait a bit before getting any help as there was no one around). I’ll definitely be coming back again. :) Shoutout also to the guy who was doing bike repairs but was able to accommodate me when I sought help. I didn’t get his name. Another guy took over the repairs so rest assured the job was not left unattended.

I have to share Praise for the staff at the Redwood City Sports Basement bike department. I bought a new road bike, and on my first ride, the rear derailleur shifted into the spokes and was destroyed. Clearly the set screw wasn’t adjusted properly (the set-up was done by a different store). The team at SB did the right thing and set me up with a new bike. They could have treated me differently and this would have been a different review, but they have earned my loyalty. Problems happen, it’s how you respond that makes the difference.

This SB has been my go-to for all things outdoors. Whether for running arch supports, camp gear, or bikes and bike expertise, this place has it all! I have only good experiences with staff, especially Alex who helped me choose and fit my new Topstone 4. Highly recommend!
