Surprisingly excellent for a chain. Everything made to order. Fresh ingredients.

Finally another spot with their own style of “garlic butter” that’s just as good as Zankou’s. I ordered their mixed grill plate with a side of beef kabob a la cart, no rice, extra salad. The chicken was tender and cooked perfectly with just the right amount of seasoning. The beef kabob was also very tender and was seasoned perfectly. The ground beef skewer was also delicious. Overall it was an awesome dinner. I’d definitely come back here again and try their other menu items. Parking limited to garage/structure near by or very limited street parking.

My sis and I were looking for a Middle Eastern food restaurant and we stumbled upon this hidden gem. Customer service was on point, food was cooked fresh and tasted amazing. This place is as close as you will get to getting authentic Middle Eastern food. The chicken was seasoned perfectly and moist. Not dry at all. The rice, the hummus the baklava made me travel to a different dimension because it tasted so damn good. These type of experiences make me so freaking grateful to be human and taste such amazing food from around the world in downtown LA. Come check the spot out you won't regret it!

As a Turk who knows this cuisine very well, I enjoyed the beef kebap. It was very tasty with cacik and humus. The portion was big enough. If you are looking for Mediterranean cuisine in DTLA, visit this place with no hesitation.

Definitely a hidden gem in DTLA; from affordable Mediterranean cuisine to free parking it has a lot of pluses. I personal love that they can make a super casual sandwich or if you want something a little fancier they can even put it on a wooden board for you. Their falafels were definitely my favorite, but all of their food is so fresh and tasty.

Really enjoyed the veggie combo platter that I got from Z Falafel! I used the kiosk towards the front to browse the menu, customize my order, and pay, and my food was prepared quickly! I got it all to go and they put it in a styrofoam clamshell and bag with everything I needed. The baba ghanoush was my favorite for its texture and flavor. I just wish I had ordered more pita bread to eat everything with! I also really enjoyed the grape leaves and salads it came with. The tabouli was a close second favorite from what came with the platter— everything was seasoned pretty well and I really. Overall, this was a great, no-frills and FAST takeout option late at night when many other places had started to close. The interior of the restaurant is very casual so I felt comfortable wandering in after a long day.

Don’t pass this place by! It’s right off 8th street before getting to Figueroa. There are plenty of parking structures nearby that are walking distance. The chicken kabob is very juicy and succulent, the salad is fresh and crispy; the hummus is simple but delicious. The rice and the Sharma work perfectly and are cooked to perfection. The owner and the staff are very welcoming and get your order ready at a decent time. This place is perfect for dine in and outside as well. You definitely get a bang for your buck.

I tried the chicken shawarma plate. Is was good along with the rice and humus. They weren't busy, so service was fast. The thing that disappointed me was the service was also the cashier, and he used his bare hand to put a warm pita bread in a small bag. That's not good. Even though the health rating was an A, it wasn't a sanitary practice.

The food was really spicy for me so I didn’t get chance to enjoy the real flavor of the dish. got the chicken shawarma bowl ( but found some lamb flavor ) which is basically lots of lettuce and beans with a bit of rice and chicken.nothing tastes like Mediterranean food but Mexican. the bothering part is that the cashier served us our food with no tray or plate, I literally had to put my bread on the table which is gross and also I asked for a cup for my soda which they didn’t have any!! Since the price is reasonable if they upgraded the service a bit it could be a nice place to eat and hangout.

The food is flavorful. Service is ok. I think they were short staffed, then the order was taken some additional time. Not for big appetites or big eaters as I am, but it the size of the plate was fair. Prices are ok.

Delicious place for affordable middle eastern fast food. The wraps are pretty big. It’s almost hard to finish it all with the fries also. Remember to ask for hot sauce because they might not ask what you want on the wrap. I had a falafel wrap one day and chicken shawarma wrap another time. Will be back when I’m in L.A.

Low-key middle eastern restaurant serving tasty food in downtown LA. Cheap and yummy, came here for lunch and it exceeded my expectations. $11 for a falafel wrap with fries that was tasty and filling

Z Falafel knows exactly what they’re doing. From the moment I went in, the employees were very friendly and the owner was more than welcoming. I went ahead and ordered the Combination Plate which comes with a side salad, hummus, chicken, rice, French fries, pita bread and my personal favorite, Kofta. Everything about this place is great. From the presentation of the plate to flavors in the meat and hummus. Oh my, when you combine the hummus with the kofta, you get something unreal. I highly recommend anyone who’s into Mediterranean food to give this place a try. I can’t wait to be back!

We stay at a nearby hotel every month and we used to get Zankou, but the last two times we’re not great so we decided to try this place. Z falafel was so good that we actually ate two nights here. The chicken kabobs were great, the gyro meat was excellent. The hummus was better than our usual place. We had no complaints. It is tasty and they got our order right both times. It’s a good protein place and not greasy or too heavy.

Nothing excites me more than discovering new food spots in Los Angeles. It's my first time trying Mediterranean food so I was very excited to check out Z Falafel. They are located in downtown LA where parking is a full-on challenge. Thankfully I got an awesome tip from another foodie to park at Ralph's parking lot which gives you 90 minute free parking with validation when you shop at Ralphs. Also, there are parking lots around as well that cost roughly around $5+. Once you get to the shop, I noticed they have 2/3 indoor and 2 outdoor dining tables. They are are a decent small sized shop. Now let's get to the good stuff! Z Falafel has a wide selection of options on their menu which can be overwhelming. To play it safe, my sister and I opt for the Combo Grill Plate because why not try a bit of everything they got on that menu of theirs. The Combo Grill Plate essentially comes with beef and lamb gyro, chicken kebab and kafta kebab. It also comes with rice, humus, salad and pita bread. We added the falafel cause yooo it must be their speciality if their store is named after it. The falafel, for those who don't know, is a deep fried ball made of chickpeas of fava beans. The one I got is freshly made from chickpeas. Now let me tell you, the presentation of the food was a solid 100 in my eyes. The way the food is a mesh of greens, and meats is really your ideal balanced meal. Also, the more colors in your food, the more happy I feel too! The first bite of the falafel was absolutely stunning. It had a nice crispy outside, and a grainy and flavorful texture instead. It was so delicious that I savage a majority of them on the platter before my sister could get to them. We both absolutely love the pita bread and the hummus as well, but what really sold us was the variety of sides to this platter. The greens were all unique in their own way, and gave us that healthy vibe we so need in our life. Let's not forget about the meat which were garnished in herbs and spices. They taste so yummy and filling. And the best part, everything here is freshly made and prepared by the staff here! Never thought food that taste this good, and look this amazing could be healthy! It was definitely a meal worth visiting for and I look forward to coming here with friends to get my Mediterranean grub on. Note: If you would like to order the food on a platter, you will have to request it as most orders are generally serve in a take out box.

I recently dined at Z falafel gem, and it exceeded all my expectations! The service was exceptional; the staff was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu, making great recommendations. The food was a delightful journey through Middle Eastern flavors. Every dish was bursting with authenticity and taste. The ambiance was perfect for a cozy dinner, with warm lighting and traditional music in the background. A must-visit for anyone craving a memorable Middle Eastern culinary experience.

Made fresh to order with quality ingredients ! The chicken kebab and beef kofta were tender, juicy and nicely seasoned. Also tried the falafels, and they are just as delicious and flavorful. The red cabbage had a slight but not overpowering vinegar taste, which was delicious, and the salad was a refreshing addition to the platter. The eggplant baba ganoush and hummus pairs perfectly with the warm pita bread. Honestly, the hummus is one of the best hummus i’ve ever had. The portions are also huge and perfect to share with a friend/family member. The staff is super friendly and welcoming! Tip: park at ralphs, which is a couple blocks down, buy a pack of gum and get your ticket validated for 90 minutes!

Z Falafel is a block away from popular hot spots such as The BLOC, Figat7th and the 7th Street Metro Train Station! They also have large windows for those who want to watch their bikes parked out front. They have some specials out front, and the plates, sandwiches and salads all look delicious. Since it was my first time here, I decided to try the Combo Grill Plate which consists of the Gyro, Chicken Kabob, Kafta Kabob, salad, rice, hummus and pita bread! By the time my meal was ready, I was drooling at the sight of it. The gyro and kafta were my favorite, the assortment of hummus, and sauces also enhanced my meal. The pita was so soft and fluffy, I just couldn’t stop eating it. Didn’t think I would enjoy the purple cabbage, but it had a nice pickled flavor that helped balance the salty meats in the meal! Amazing plate, and super filling. Looking forward to coming back to try different things on the menu, but that combo plate is so good, I’m not sure I’ll be able to order anything else!

i ordered 2 shawarma sandwiches, 1 shawarma flat, and falafel. first it’s low level services there, then the shawarma is more and more than nasty test. there’s a lot of things to say but in simple word “nasty test”.

Small and unclean restaurant. When I walked into this restaurant, I realized how small and unclean this restaurant was. I saw two big chunks of meats were hanging up in two holders. There were no warmer and lights on the meat holder, so those meats looked cold and old. Plus, since those meats were exposed to air for a long time, so I saw some meat juice on the bottom of the meats and on the counter. It didn't look clean and appealing. I was turned off by what I saw immediately. I also noticed that this small restaurant doesn't have restroom for customers, so we can not wash our hands. As a summary, those meats may taste good, but it certainly doesn't look fresh and clean to me, so I didn't order anything.

I am in love with this place. The customer service is one of the nicest ever, the food looks as wonderful as it tastes. This was my 2nd visit to the ZFalafel yet different location. The flavors are super rich, you just want more and more with every bite. Will definitely be back as this is now one of my favorite Mediterranean places in LA!
