We go here for birding in spring/fall/winter and for beach during summer. A reasonable place, with lots of people during summer. Their July 4th fireworks is one of the best I have seen in the US. The beaches are clean, good showers & bathrooms also reasonably good concession stand.

My son was lost to the Lake on this pier 12-21-18. There needs to be bars to keep people safer and keep them from being swept away by those dangerous waves, and undertowes

Everytime I visit my friend in Michigan City, we visit the harbor. The beach flat and very long. Plenty of space to get into the water. They also have an awesome pier with a lighthouse at the end. There is a Simpson like power plant on the shoreline that is a bit of a bummer. I do enjoy our late night drink sessions on the pier!

You can see the Chicago skyline on a clear day. We walked the pier and enjoyed the view. It’s a nice beach area.

One of my fav. Harbors... clean restrooms, wide piers and friendly neighbors always make this a great place to visit. I only wish I could jump in the water on occasion...

I'm new to the area so I went exploring both day and night. It was well kept and somewhat pleasant overall, but I didn't see any adults of color in the area so that gave me pause. The few people who did look my way caused me think to myself, "I wonder if..." I sincerely hope that I'm over reacting.

One of my favorite places to go to. Beautiful beach on lake Michigan. If you get tired of swimming, the outlet malls are right down the street!
