Plenty of open tables for lunch on a Friday, which was surprising because everything was excellent!! The cheese empanadas were ooey gooey and the chimichurri and vinegar-based sauces on the table paired perfectly. I got the Churrasco Nica and my cousin got the Canoa de Maduro with chicken. The food was soooo good and we definitely asked for more chimichurri to dip our sides in! Will definitely be visiting again for more of their friendly service and delicious dishes!

We loved our lunch of two appetizers from @fritanganica.stl! Maduros con queso - sweet plantains were perfectly cooked, and this fantastic hunk of cheese was crispy on the outside and smooth on the inside. Chichiarron de pollo - crispy, deep-fried little chicken drumsticks that came with an herb sauce and a tangy, spicy citrus sauce. Oh, and fried green plantains, too! They were both so good! That being said, even though there was only one other couple in the restaurant, it took about 40 minutes to get our food. Seemed kind of long to me!

My sister and I came here for dinner. It was our first time trying Nicaraguan food. My parents our Haitian so the food here seemed familiar. The way the restaurant made their plantains is very similar to how Haitians make it so I really enjoyed that. My sister and I had the same dish. It was a chicken stew with rice & beans. It was different from what I’m accustomed to but I enjoyed it. I’m used to spicer flavored meats but this was sweet in a good tasting way. I finished everything on my plate. I recommend going to this place.

You’re missing out if you’ve never been here. The food is excellent. Very authentic feel. The prices were very reasonable as well.

We are visiting from Dallas, TX. My family ordered food there and I ordered food from next door. I left two small boxes on the table. They told me that since COVID-19 precautions were in place, I needed to take my garbage as it was causing cross-contamination. If they are so worried about cross-contamination, they would do a better job of cleaning their restrooms. This was my first time, and my last time there. The food might be good, but they need to attend Customer Service 101 University. They were very rude. Last time I checked, the pandemic ended. My wife asked for a to go coffee, and they do not have to go coffee. We have traveled both nationally and internationally, and have never heard of such of thing. I would stay away from this place. I have never left a restaurant with such a bad taste in my mouth as this one. The staff are very unprofessional and very rude. Avoid this place at all costs.

The food is so delicious and packed with flavor. The service is always on point and the food come out fast. We always get the flank steak, the fried sweet plantains and beans and rice.

I recently visited Fritanga, a Nicaraguan restaurant, and had a wonderful dining experience. I started with the chicken empanada, which was incredibly flavorful and had a perfectly crispy crust. The filling was well-seasoned and the portion was generous. For my main course, I ordered the Bistec encebollado, a sirloin steak marinated in a delicious mojo criollo. The steak was cooked to perfection, tender and juicy, and the flavors from the garlic, herbs, and spices were mouthwatering. The steak was topped with slow-cooked caramelized onions, adding a touch of sweetness to each bite. The entire meal was not only delicious but also very hearty. The portion sizes were generous, leaving me satisfied and content. The restaurant itself was clean, creating a pleasant and inviting atmosphere. The staff members were friendly and provided excellent service, making the dining experience even more enjoyable. One aspect that stood out was the wait time, which was surprisingly short. I didn't have to wait long to be served, allowing me to enjoy my meal without any unnecessary delays. Overall, my first visit to Fritanga was a delightful experience. The food was delicious, the place was clean, the staff was great, and the wait time was minimal. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking to savor authentic Nicaraguan cuisine in a welcoming environment.

Fast service, great fresh food with lots of flavor. They have some amazing authentic drinks and food. I wish I would have known my fish was going to come whole with the head on.... I typically do not like to eat whole fish but this did have good flavor.

Most authentic latin-american experience around. Just like being in Central America...without the flight. Food is so good. If you go to Cherokee street for authentic Mexican...add this into your rotation. You might find its your favorite! Nicaraguan is NOT Mexican but you will find some familiar dishes and spices.

Decent food, terrible service. I'm not sure how a place like this can stay in business considering they're incredibly relaxed attitude towards service. There was one large party in the restaurant and the rest of it was empty . We saw two separate tables come in and leave after about half an hour. All together we were there for over an hour and had to keep reminding the server about our drink orders. Steak on a hot stone was tasty but kind of like cooking a steak at home yourself on a frying pan. I really like the smoked pork chops but I'll never go back to that restaurant due to their incredibly slow service.

The cook was rude in speaking about other customers with a take it or leave it type of attitude. However, the food was excellent in taste. I will give the staff the benefit of the doubt and just assume this was just a bad day for everyone. The place came highly recommended, so I will give them a 2nd chance before I right them off as a no-go place to eat.

    I. Love. This. Place. The food is delicious - highly recommend the beef empanadas and the chicken chimichuri. The maduros and even their rice/beans are out of this world. I usually add a Rumtarindo as my drink (give it a try if you're into cocktails). The staff is lovely and I always have a laugh when I come in.

My wife and I have been at this place three times and every single one of them we have loved it. The price, quality, size and taste of the food is 100% worth it. Super recommended!!!!

The food is good , although the service is lacking. The tilapia was delicious and the sides were good as well. The Dr. Pepper was flat. Walls have color but nothing on them. Fairly bland decor. Once was good, might be back again for a to go order.

A neighborhood GEM!!!! I love Fritanga so much. The empanadas are my all time favorite. They come with two sauces (the perfect mix of spice and sour) and a crunchy slaw. Another favorite is the platano loco which is a hearty plantain dish that comes with the meat of your choice. Service is consistently very good. To go orders are usually ready in about 15 minutes. Prices are fair. If you’re in the area, give Fritanga a try!

One of the best meals in all of St. Louis. The food is absolutely incredible. That’s an understatement. While I am far from a food critic, I am a foodie. Please try this place as I can not describe how vibrant the flavors are. It’s a dining experience that equates to a euphoric state. It doesn’t get any better than this.

The flavoring and sauces of the dishes are excellent. I had the shrimp with this jalapeño sauce. Very good! My girl had the chicken, which I snagged a bite of and was good too!
