My son is 14 and new to martial arts. 231 Academy has taken him in like family, giving him lots of support as mentors! Everyone is very respectful and friendly. I highly recommend 231 Academy for anyone new to Jui Jitsu.

Academy 231 was the best. Their instructor Steve was great. He allowed me to drop in while on vacation near by. The school is kinda hidden as it's the back end of Steve's shop. The school was very very clean and the culture was very welcoming. If you have the chance and are in the area hit them up. Great school.

What a bunch of absolute kind assassins! The instruction was quality. The energy and atmosphere were quality. I travel a lot and it's not ever a guarantee if the schools I check out are going to have the positive energy I feed off of. This place won me over immediately. Rolled a good amount and everyone was fun and without any unnecessary pride or ego. Even when I rolled with the instructor I could tell he was there to enjoy the roll and not prove to some stranger that he's a beast. A beautiful place. I will definitely be back whenever I'm in the Muskegon area. Five stars all around.

Great environment! I just started taking classes here and immediately fell in love. Everyone including the instructors are extremely helpful and respectful. I encourage anyone looking to train to come out and try it just like I have!

I’m only one week into a 5 week program and I already love it. I have felt a decrease in anxiety and I have really enjoyed learning a new skill . It’s a fun alternative to your average cardio workout. I’m curious to see how my mental toughness increases over the course of time.

I recently completed the 5 week beginner program and became so hooked that I am continuing with my membership! As someone who body builds and mostly weight trains, this is a great challenge that I'm adding to my workout routine. I feel like I've gained endurance and confidence on top of meeting some great people. Jiu-Jitsu seems a little intimidating, but the instructors are great teachers and super welcoming as well as knowledgable in their craft. 10/10 would recommend!

My youngest daughter started here this week and loves it. I think she would attend every day if she could. Myself and my oldest daughter were apprehensive as we are beginners, but after visiting Academy 231 that fear is no longer there. We love the welcoming atmosphere here. Come to Academy 231, you will not regret it!

Awesome time. Was my second time visiting here and Stephen the instructor even remembered me from over a year ago by name. One of the higher level practitioners was there from my last visit as well and went out of his way to even give me some pointers based off what he saw that would specifically benefit me . The room was very welcoming and you can tell there's a code of conduct that promotes positivity, humility, and honest desire to grow on and off the mat. I'll be back soon and regularly. Steve is so helpful with answering any questions on jiu jitsu. Eldis is a great instructor, very good with the kids. Both Steve and Eldis was very welcoming and My kids jumped right in a started bonding with the other students! My kids absolutely love it. I can't wait to see where this journey into jiu jitsu takes them!

I couldn't recommend Academy 231 enough! We started with one of our kids joining and in just a few months his confidence has soared. Now our other kid, my wife and I all have all joined. The real draw is not the training but the awesome community they have built. Everyone has been welcoming, kind and super helpful.
