Very beautiful and large place, mainly indoors but I would recommend going on a nicer day so you can get the full experience of the outer section as well. If you’re a plant lover, you will absolutely love this place. There’s a lot selection of plants and trees. There were little signs that have information about what you were looking about, and fun facts about them. During our visit there were a lot of exhibits that were closed because they were working on them. The first look inside was breath taking. If you’re visiting Pittsburgh you definitely have to visit this spot !

Beautiful. The winter wonder light show was amazing. It was pouring down rain when we went and it was still amazing! Had to purchase tickets in advance as they only allow so many at a time. It flowed so nicely. You had enough time to enjoy and look at things without being surrounded by people. We also went on a Tuesday evening though! Will definitely return next year!

The conservatory is a well-maintained and very popular space in Pittsburgh. It is beautiful and it stands apart from other botanical gardens I’ve visited. It has a living, interactive model train board, beautiful glass sculptures by world-famous artist Dale Chihuly, and specimens from around the world. The placards are easy to find and read and it is 95% accessible for disabled visitors. I’m very eager to see the outdoor spaces in Spring and summer, but the orange trees were blooming already and smelled amazing even through our masks.

Phipps is great and by far one of the most beautiful botanical garden I’ve been too. I lived in Washington DC for a while and assumed the nations Capitol it would be the grandest. I found the DC conservatory kind of lacking in variety and upkeep. I get a discount here as a disabled American, but otherwise it CAN be a bit pricey. In DC many things are free to the public, which is nice. I appreciate any place that reduces prices based on income. Every season has a it’s own feel here, and the people at Phipps work really hard to make this a great experience for their customers.

Perfect Saturday for a visit to Phipps Conservatory. Elegant, beautiful and tranquil gardens. A feast for the senses. Fun, accessible, free parking and excellent for adults and children alike. Friendly and helpful staff. Cute cafe. It was nice to get there early before the crowds to take the time to thoroughly enjoy each section more than once. Loved it. What a treasure.

This is a place you definitely don't want to miss. No matter if it's an individual or for a family with kids/seniors, definitely worth visiting! It has covered most popular plants from all over the world. Good to see the details or just browsing around. It took me one hour for the tour. Some of the areas were very hot because of the simulation of tropical areas. We did have great fun come visiting here. Strongly recommended!!

You can’t beat Phipps at Christmas time. My husband and I went on a day date to Phipps this weekend. He purchased the tickets in advance and it was nice because it was not overly crowded. I saw multiple families there with someone using a wheelchair or stroller. It made me happy to see how accessible the area is. The displays are absolutely breathtaking with a great variety of botanical masterpieces in every room. Go in the evening to see the light display in all of its beauty.

Amazing!! Went here with a friend and had such a great time! We were there when the Billy Porter display was up and it was not only beautiful but so interesting as well! Even if that display is gone, I don’t doubt that any other display they put up will be just as good! The conservatory itself was beautiful too. There were so many different rooms like a desert room and a fruit and spice room. The Japanese Garden is an absolute must see and if you want some amazing vacation photos, this is the place!

Visited here for the first time and loved all of the plant / flower displays. So much to see you could spend four or five hours here and still not have enough time. Everything was pretty much well kept. Great for all ages. Didn't get a chance to see the souvenir shop for more then a few minutes, but they had a lot of good stuff in there. There is also a small cafeteria area which is a bonus if you want to spend half the day or longer there. If we are back in the Pittsburgh area again we will surely be back.

What a wonderful place! The floral displays are outstanding and I never miss their seasonal shows for Spring, Summer, Fall and Christmas/Winter! They also often have an amazing train display for the winter season. Parking on the "Island" in front of the Conservatory on Schenley Drive is free... and on Sundays all street parking is also free. Their cafe also offers good options for lunch or a snack or beverage. I highly recommend a visit here if you are touring around Pittsburgh.

Absolutely gorgeous conservatory and botanical garden. We visited during the holiday season and the festive decorations were magical and completely transformed the scenery. It was crowded on a Saturday night but to be expected given the season and the beauty. We didn't mind at all and everyone was polite and just there to have a good time. Even if you don't love botanical gardens I'd highly recommend checking out Phipps, it's one of the best.

Beautiful indoor gardens! We greatly enjoyed our time here… everything was Christmas themed which was pretty neat. We really enjoyed the Hawaiian rainforest and the main room with the all the train sets and little villages set up. The children loved that room and didn’t want to leave it! The entire facility is wheelchair accessible, a huge plus! Definitely worth a visit!

My husband, daughter, & I visited here on Christmas Eve Day during our first trip to Pitt. and I’m so glad we did! We were all so impressed with the time and details of all of the displays/gardens! Absolutely beautiful!! While we didn’t get to see the lights at night, it was still worth every minute!!

I love and been to many botanical gardens. Phipps’ was a bit disappointing to me. $20 admission fee at the door, I asked for a map and was told to just take a picture of it from the wall. It was not a big deal, since I’m all about saving the trees too! Here are the things to why I gave this place 3/5. This botanic garden was just kinda small, not a whole lot of cool plants to see. The one area I wanted to see was the room where they had used plants to make a flower. Which was also the room/pic they used to advertised this place. When asked about it, I was told by their staff the room was closed to replace glass panels. Keep in mind, I visited this botanical garden on July 4th with lots of tourists coming in. If I had known that the room they advertised was closed; I would’ve used my time better and visited other attractions instead. Then again, I’m not sure if that room would’ve made a difference considered I was hoping to see some unique plants. The outdoor garden was very ordinary and not a whole lot to see. Overall, I probably won’t come back to visit this place again.

Incredibly charmed. The many many gorgeous plants! The impressively dedicated sustainability-inspired fashion show! The lovely green-haired lady celebrating her wedding in a flower crown! The small children running about delightedly in the garden! The happy bees! The cute little environmentalist health food cafe! Overall so impressed by how much this obviously felt like a labor of love by the people who built it and who continue to maintain it. Highly recommend.

My now husband and I just had our wedding at the Phipps a couple of weeks ago. There is a reason this place is so highly ranked to have your wedding here. The event coordinating and staff were on point from day one. Because they were so organized and so in tune with our wants and needs for our wedding they took all the stress away from wedding planning. Because of this my husband and I were able to truly enjoy our engagement rather than stressing about a wedding. Sahara was our day of coordinator and she was fantastic. David from catering was a great contact and was very organized as well. We owe the Phipps and incredibly big thank you for making our big day so special and perfect!

Beautiful tour and well managed plant gardens. Enjoyed seeing the themed rooms. Affordable activity for family to walk, talk, and spend time appreciating nature. Even nice in the winter! Could improve labeling of some plants. Could add more educational/informative signs for those wanting to learn more about the plant species, their cultivation, etc.

There will never be enough times you can visit this beautiful and unique place. You can really take your time and self-tour so many different exhibits throughout the building. What’s even more incredible is the dedication that is readily apparent throughout each room. You can clearly tell that much thought and effort has been put into making this as beautiful as it is. 100% recommend for a therapeutic, relaxing and fun time.

In Pittsburgh this plant house botanic garden is one of the nicer place to visit. The conservatory is not too bad. There are nice plants and flowers. With proper signs to describe the plants. There also a Build up toy display of four seasons in Pittsburgh. There are model trains etc This compared to many other gardens of similar nature in Asia, it pales. For example, Gardens By the Bay in Singapore is so much larger and exhibits changes every few Months.

We just went for their Christmas light display, and it was truly amazing. They have many beautifully executed displays with so many rooms and outdoor features. Phipps feel like a world-class experience. The plants, flowers, and botanicals from all sorts of climates were on display and matched tastefully with the Christmas lights. I look forward to seeing this again. I think it will be worth a visit in any season.

What a wonderful visit! We arrived at 4pm on a Thursday and had the opportunity to enjoy the inside basically all to ourselves and still see the lights outside once night fell. Bonus, we even got a lovely western PA sunset in the mix. As always the decorations are amazing, the visit was well worth it!

Their holiday/winter show was beautiful this year, and noticeably had more lights outside. The joy photo opp was a smart touch. It's always clear they have a passionate, dedicated team that works very hard to take care of the gardens and decorate too!

Beautiful place but very, very expensive. We went during the day and it was crowded. The outside christmas lights were closed and turned off. I would have still liked the experience to walk through that part even though it was off.

When I was a kid, Phipps felt like my own personal Neverland. We had the membership pass every year and everyone in the family had our own favorite room. Had the chance to go back recently and it did not disappoint. Everything from the fun little treasure hunts you can do to how fresh and oxygen-filled the air feels leaves you smiling.

I had the pleasure of visiting Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens last week, and it was truly a delightful experience. The place exudes coziness, and the excellent services added to the overall charm. One of the highlights was exploring the diverse gardens they have to offer. From vibrant flower displays to serene green spaces, The attention to detail in creating a welcoming atmosphere and the variety of gardens make Phipps Conservatory a standout destination. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a botanical escape in Pittsburgh.

  • 5/5 Jessica W. 5 months ago on Google
Beautiful! I was so impressed with the amount of plants and flowers, theming (beginning of the holiday season!), and size of the place. The gift show had so much fun stuff. I would recommend this to anyone coming to the area!

  • 5/5 Eric B. 6 months ago on Google
Anytime of year, Phipps is a must visit. Their Christmas show has an amazing light display. The Spring and Fall shows are amazing and there is always something blooming. Don’t forget to look high and low, always love spotting a bunch of bananas. Whether you live in the Burgh or are just in town, Phipps is a must stop! Advanced tickets are not a bad idea but unless it’s the Christmas show, generally not needed.

Very pretty if you like plants and flowers, they have quite the selection, different climates and seasons. There are a lot of amazing photo-spots, definitely a place where I would take a date. The gift shop also has quite the selection of different items, don't skip it.

Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens proved to be a captivating retreat immersed in the allure of nature’s beauty. The curated plant displays and thoughtfully crafted gardens offered a serene escape from the everyday. A standout moment was the mesmerizing Tropical Forest Conservatory, where I felt transported into a lush rainforest realm. One delightful surprise was the showcase of Billy Porter’s fashion, adding an artistic and fashionable dimension to the garden’s appeal. The emphasis on sustainability and educational initiatives further enriched the experience, making it a must-visit for both nature enthusiasts and seekers of serene tranquility.

Beautiful gardens. We were expecting a larger facility/grounds, but it was still very beautiful! $21.95/adult. Quite expensive for what is there. However if you have an hour or two to killa and are looking for a nice, relaxing spot, this could suit your needs.

  • 5/5 Inbar P. 8 months ago on Google
Beautiful place. So many things to see and explore. There are many exhibitions to see, which are very beautiful and creative. The combination of fashion and nature is super special, I’ve never seen anything like this. Even if you are not interested in fashion, there is much to explore, many of the exhibitions focus just on nature. Every corner is different, and you don’t get tired from going around. There are great explanations near the designs, don’t miss them!! The place is pretty expensive, but worth visiting at least once.

An absolute must for anyone who loves plants!! I'm told the conservatory is maintained by an army of 100+ volunteers, many of them Master Gardeners, and they do a stellar job of it. The specimens are in glowing health, beautifully pruned, and currently complemented by an interesting fashion design show by various artists. Tickets are $21.95/adult ($19 for college students) and there was no line or wait to get in. Plan for at least three hours here. A full day would be better. Comfortable shoes are a must. Wheelchairs may have some difficulty in some rooms. There is a snack bar with delicious salads and fresh brewed tea. The gift shop carries sundry goodies any gardener would love (including live plants!). Bathrooms are gendered stalls. There is a water bottle refilling station just outside of them.

My 1st time ever and it was amazing. I loved all the different displays and of course the lovely flowers. My favorite display was this lady in the pic she had an upper body made of glass with fish swimming through the body. It is so cool I think. The high heel shoes display was another cool favorite. Something I haven't seen before. I will definitely be going back when they have the holiday lights displays. Little small surprise and I think it's actually great. They have supplies in the womans restrooms complimentary! This should be more of a thing in places but I appreciate it for sure.

  • 3/5 MJ B. 1 year ago on Google
Went for the Holidays Lights Festival. The light displays alone were phenomenal. This was the first time I had been to the Conservatory, so I was taking in everything all at once. There's so much to see and learn; they've done a wonderful job of maintaining and establishing the gardens, but also incorporating other educational, interactive elements to appeal to all types of guests. My biggest complaint is there seems to be no direction- no maps, no guides, no signs or arrows. It's very easy to get turned around. All in all, it's a great place to visit and learn and admire nature and the natural wonders; definitely a multi trip destination.

Really amazing Botanical garden that Pittsburgh has! Being a huge fan of nature, I totally enjoyed this place. This is indeed a second visit of mine, yet I loved it. Certain decorations were Christmas specific I believe, however I could not witness them during night time and I believe that they will be even more beautiful during the night time.

Beautiful as always. The gift shop has some great items and eat at the cafe for summer amazing salads and yummy food. I love wandering the different rooms, breathing in the fresh scents and looking at the beautiful plants.

A very unique experience every visit we have with this beautiful indoor botanical garden. Every event is and decoration is amazing throughout the year. No matter what is the weather conditions this indoor place always gives so much of peace and pleasure.

The conservatory is a wonderful escape from the hectic and sometimes chaotic everyday life. Between the gorgeous colors and the vivid scents of the vast variety of flowers, one can almost forget that Phipps is located in a busy city such as Pittsburgh. Once inside time slows down as you unwind and stroll through the different themed rooms. Spring and Christmas are my favorite times to visit but there is always something to see all year long. I would definitely suggest giving Phipps a look.

  • 5/5 Vincent L. 1 year ago on Google
We enjoyed our visit here very much, especially when they have a "Monet in Bloom" flower show. They show Monet's paintings with some descriptions, and then they try to recreate the scene in the paintings in their garden. And the figures displayed were all made with dried plant parts. There are quite a number of different rooms with different themes, all very beautiful and well maintained. There are also many Chihuly’s glass arts displayed harmoniously together with the plants.

  • 5/5 Sandra P. 1 year ago on Google
I love Phipps. My friend and I hadn't been in years, so we made it our "girl's day" destination. They are celebrating Monet (Spring 2022), and the flower displays are quite inventive. Each area has a painting that the room is based on. The flowers are beautiful, the staff is welcoming, and the lunch bar is good. I love wandering around and taking everything in at my own pace.

  • 5/5 Noah 1 year ago on Google
The conservatory features some rotating and some permanent components. Structurally and aesthetically, the location is super well designed; even indoors you feel outdoors. Our pictures depict a time when there were glass sculptures inside as well! Just a lovely juxtaposition of built vs. natural environment. Thematic spaces also feature during the holidays, which will work for you if you like nostalgia. They're doing great conservation work as well! Keep supporting Phipps!

I've gone twice this summer to see the Monet show. It's absolutely beautiful! I've had lunch in the cafe- always delicious- and Sarris candy for a sweet treat. Take the family and enjoy Phipps. We are truly blessed to have such a beautiful botanic garden in Pittsburgh. PS. the orchids are breath-taking!

  • 4/5 Judith D. 1 year ago on Google
This is a very nice conservatory, when we went they were preparing for the winter show but it was not open yet. They have a venue for special occasions that is very nice. The place has many rooms, one of them featured Hawaii plants, another one was a desert exhibition, the balloons and flowers room was my favorite, they also have a miniature town with trains, boats, helicopter and a volcano that you can move by waving your hand Will definitely be there again for the winter show

  • 5/5 Allison 8 months ago on Google
I was blown away by the beauty and magnitude of this botanic garden! There was a special event going on for a fashion designer, and all of the installations were STUNNING! I will definitely be back to visit this gorgeous space.

Amazing place to visit for plant Lovers. They have a really nice collection of all plants from across the world. The environment they generate within each of the different halls to preserve these plants and give them their natural habitat is great. Maintainence and cleanliness was great. It was interesting to walk around, learn about different types of plants and trees and flowers etc. At the end the gift shop was also a good place to find a small gift at a reasonable price. You can easily spend half a day inside this place.

  • 5/5 Lexie G. 9 months ago on Google
We went here around Christmas time and they had every room dressed to the nines for the holidays. It was absolutely beautiful! I recommend buying tickets ahead of time just to be sure you'll get in, buy we bought ours at the window in the lobby when we entered. Every room of the garden was more gorgeous and breath taking than the last. They even had a room full of miniature train scenes of Pittsburgh. The gift shop in the lobby was also really cute, with lots of little treasures to remember your visit. I would definitely recommend Phipps Conservatory and Gardens for all ages!

  • 5/5 J T. 9 months ago on Google
Beautiful! My teenage boys and I went to tour Phipps. We took a 20-minute walk through Carnegie Mellon Campus and even walked along the railroad tracks. We had fun exploring Pittsburgh. I found Phipps to be breathtaking. I loved how art was incorporated into the flowers. Such a unique experience; my boys even enjoyed themselves. This place is huge with so many details. There was a banana tree, but unfortunately, all the bananas were taken. There were plenty of activities for younger children to explore, plant, and play. Billy Porter's unique art style really made this incredible. My oldest son is an artist and I truly appreciate the creativity combined with beauty. Absolutely fantastic.

  • 5/5 wynter f. 9 months ago on Google
Everything was beautiful! The artwork mixed in with the flowers and plants was amazing, and I especially loved all of the student work too! I would totally come again. There's a children's section which was really cute too!

This place is absolutely beautiful! I love how they change up the theme and there is always something new to look at when you to! Around the holidays (Christmas) is the best overall. No words to describe how gorgeous they design Phipps!

We visited the new exhibit and the bonsai trees were cool. Many trees were old and very cool. There were many hand sanitizer containers and masks were mandatory throughout the building. Even during the pandemic the conservatory was still a very fun time and is so cool to see so many plants.

  • 5/5 Lori Z. 9 months ago on Google
One of my favorite places to go. My soul is filled when I experience the lavish beauty of God's green creation. I so enjoy how the conservatory is designed to have visitors wind through all the rooms. My kids just loved the outdoor kids play garden, well designed and fun!

  • 4/5 Erina R. 10 months ago on Google
Great conservatory with lots of interesting plants. It's a spectacular building but looks a lot bigger from the outside. Their staff is helpful & friendly. I think we should have gone at night, though - all the photos I've seen are breathtaking but feature elaborate lighting.

  • 5/5 Barb K. 8 months ago on Google
Stunning displays right now of a collaboration with Billy Porter! The majority of the gardens Is all indoor domes, the orchid area was my favorite! Definitely need at minimum an hour, but recommend planning for two if you want to feel encapsulated and go through everything. The restaurant has nice options as does the gift shop albeit being on the pricey side. We saw a wedding taking place there, lovely venue for that!
