This place is incredible! Everything is beautiful, calm, to enjoy, adults and children, everyone is happy. We have been with my children many times at different times of the year and we always enjoy them. The food is excellent, the people friendly, happy. The bathrooms, something so important to me 😅, impeccable, always! Strasburg a place that everyone should go, even if the trains don't attract you, but I think it's impossible 😂. The train rides are so beautiful and the locomotives are impressive and Beautiful too. The days with Thomas, my children are so happy! I’m sure that you will have a wonderful time with your family.😃

This place is amazing!! It's like traveling back in time when you ride on the train. It's very well preserved, the seats are comfortable, the train cars are clean and the staff is very friendly. It is such a great place to visit with family/friends, and little kids have a great time. They have plenty of fun activities and you can buy tickets online or at the station. I recommend checking out the website for days and times availability, and try to get there early because they are very punctual with the the departures. I only wish the ride would be longer, but it is a great experience at a very good price.

Today we visited the Strasburg Railroad in Strasburg PA to take a train ride and to Santa!!! This was a surprise trip for the our 3 youngest ones. If you are planning a visit to Lancaster County PA Strasburg Railroad is a must visit. The train ride is about 45 minutes and takes you through scenic farm land. This ride included a visit with Santa and Mrs Clause (Mrs Clause was in one of the shops and not on the train ride but included with the tickets). Carolers and a brass band. My boys loved every minute of it and were smiling from ear to ear.

We took a trip to PA. recently and being a railroad man I had to stop in and check out the Strasburg railroad. When I say I was a railroad man, I meant I spent my entire adult life either working on the railroad or administering railroad projects and oversight. Most people assume I loved trains, truth be told I really didn't, it was my job. When I visited the Strasburg Railroad I was impressed and amazed at how many people do actually love trains and railroading. It was great for me to walk around the grounds and check out their tracks, and equipment knowing there are people here that would love to know what I knew and work I did on the railroad. It was a beautiful afternoon and this place doesn't disappoint, great time for all ages. Staff were very knowledgeable and willing to talk to all who would listen.

My wife and I rode the rails with Strasburg Rail Road on Labor Day of 2022, and we had a delightful time. We rode in the first class car, which had comfy swivel seats, air conditioning, and a dedicated server to take food and drink orders. (My wife had the macaroons, which were very good, she tells me.) The whole train was immaculate, and you could see the love the owners of the rail road have for their trains and their facility. There was a restaurant on site (we did not eat there), as well as a gift shop and a separate toy store (largely filled with Thomas the Tank Engine toys, but a few others as well). We were very impressed with the "station platform" that extended the whole length of the train. Brick platform, lots of trees and benches, lots of potted, flowering plants. Just a delightful experience all around. A terrific experience for families, and rail fans of all ages!

We took our son and daughter to ride the train. It was really an awesome experience! The kids loved it! We rode in the first class car Marian 88. It was beautifully restored. We were comfortable the whole ride. We definitely recommend it to others. We plan to come back and explore more of what they have an offer.

Great short line! They run a well organized and friendly operation here. The train cars are well maintained and look like they may have when new many years ago. If you ride the train you need a ticket but you can come and watch the trains come and go for free and check out the local shops on the property. Across the street is The Train Museum of PA. And down the road a bit is The Red Caboose Motel and Casey Jones Restaurant (same place.) Take the train ride and head over to Casey Jones for a bite to eat and watch the train pass by! Don't forget to check out the gift shop and all the Cabooses on site. Great fun for all ages! Lots to do and see in the local area too!

I’ve been to the Strasburg Rail Rd., many times over the years. It is the it is the oldest continuous running short line in America. The trains are spectacular. The people that take care of the trains and the customer service is phenomenal. I’ve loved Trains since I was a child, this is a fun filled family place check out the videos that I have some or a little bit short because you can only do 30 second clips on this platform. I can’t wait to go again before winter time. Tickets $16 for kids 2-11 $24 for adults so many more packages they have and events, check out the website for details.

This is a place where you create memories; whether you are a family, or an individual. You will keep coming back. I love the trains, and the shops! This is a great attraction, and you have the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania across the road. If you are a train enthusiast, or just love history; this is the place to see. Trains represent progress, and they were a vital lifeline to many people then and now. The nostalgia is represented in the shops, and little souvenirs that you can take with you. I love seeing the excitement of people when they see the trains in action. The sights, sounds, and smell of the trains is something for sure!

The best experience for all ages. The bit of history they tell along the journey was so cool. Friendly staff all over! My son,8, is still saying how much he loved it. Inexpensive and just enough stuff to do to tire the kids out.

I recently visited The Strasburg Rail Road and had a great experience! Even before arriving, I called the customer service line and received answers to my questions and insight into what to expect. The website has tons of great information as well. We visited to take in the fall foliage and Lancaster County farm scenery. The weather was perfect, and the train ride was excellent -- with luxurious comfort seating (premium cars). They even offer drinks and snacks on the ride (45 minutes). There was a senior in my group who needed a lift onto and off the train -- they had it covered (you must let them know when you arrive). I visited during October and the entire area was well decorated for the Fall and Halloween. I didn't have time to visit the shops and 1832 restaurant -- but I'm sure they provided great offerings as well. The staff (at the ticket booth, the operator of the lift for the train, the snack staff onboard, and the conductors) were professional, friendly, outstanding, and accommodating. Thank you to the entire Strasburg Rail Road Team! Truly a wonderful visit and we will be back again!

It was a nice and fun experience. We buy tickets for the Bonnie and Clyde show, the show starts about 15 minutes before the train ride at the station and then continues inside the wagons. It was really fun. The station has gift shops and cafes. Train ride through scenic Lancaster County farmland. Is perfect for families looking for something different to do.

Been to Strasburg Rail Road a few times for both special events and casual rides. Recently, I brought my parents. My father is handicapped and the staff went all out to accommodate us and ensure we could get seated without any problems. Alex was great helping us inside the train car and the wait staff was terrific. The alcoholic drinks were delicious amd I really thought the narration was much better in describing the countryside, people, economics, and history of the area. This is such a special place and I know we will be back for years to come.

We did a wine and cheese train. I wrote in the comments when I ordered my tickets that I hoped our group of 10 could sit together because we were celebrating my sister getting married. The staff went above and beyond for my sister. They brought her balloons, they let us board first, they served my sister first, they had the whole train car cheering/celebrating her, they gave her a free drink and macaroons, took pictures of all of us, and announced her name over the intercom to congratulate her. It was just so sweet and more than I ever thought it would be. It meant so much to her. What they didn’t know is she just battled breast cancer, so this just made this whole thing so much more special. The wine and cheese tray was fantastic and so was the train ride. Honestly can’t thank everyone enough for their kindness towards my sister and our group. They went above and beyond for us and made this whole experience more special. I highly recommend Strasburg Railroad. Such great staff and a fantastic time had by all!

45 minute ride through Amish Country. My sister and I just got to Lancaster had a little time before check in at the red caboose and decided to do the last trip of the day which was 3 pm . Had to be there by 2:30 we made it ! We took the open air car off of the recommendations of reviews I read . So glad I did. The cool breeze, and being able to take pictures so easily . Plus, you could walk to the end of the train outside and watch how everything works. Kids really loved this area. I think this was the perfect start for a vacation . So relaxing also after a 2 1/2 hour drive from DC. I think if I would’ve spent a day or two driving around Amish country and then did that it might have been a little boring . Highly recommend for families. Or anyone that’s just starting out their vacation in Amish country.

Was super excited to try Strasburg. It had been on my must do list for some time. The train was quite nice. We were in a first class parlor car 88 which was not open air and had refreshment service as well as snacks. That was enjoyable. What I didn't like was I couldn't hear what the announcer was saying at all. The narrated tour was not heard. Unless you were seated right in the middle of the car it was impossible to hear. Also the ride isn't actually 45 minutes. You are on the train that long but there are times you are stopped. I guess that's protocol. It was enjoyable but not what I expected. On a side note if you have young children you may want to choose another car other than this one such as the open air. Parents of children in this car on that day were opening the windows for their children. Not a good idea and it hinders the enjoyment of the other guests on board.

A gorgeous ride, through the countryside! We chose the open air car, which I highly recommend. The train was in pristine condition, and the atmosphere, both on the train and at the station, was a lot of fun. The ride was about 15 min, in length, each way. Our favorite part of the ride was traveling through Cherry Crest Adventure Farm and exchanging waves with everyone there. Cherry Crest Adventure Farm is an incredible place, by the way, but I’ll save that for another review. ;) The only part of the train ride that disappointed my family was that the photographer aboard chose to take our family’s picture, in the town of Paradise, which is anything but picturesque. We didn’t purchase the picture because the background was awful. If the photograph had been taken in Strasburg instead, with the station as the background, or in the countryside, we would have purchased it. But, this is a minor detail, and doesn’t affect the fact that we thoroughly enjoyed the ride!

There is really no place like this. Genuine operating steam engines the take you on a tour of the beautiful Lancaster countryside. We had two toddlers with us and they loved it just as much as we did. Highly recommend!

"A Day with Thomas" at Strasburg Railroad was a huge success. I recommend arriving early as you'll have access to the parking lot & closer parking. It gets busy, but it didn't seem crowded. The lines to activities & areas involving pictures were not long. The staff was all very friendly & knowledgeable of the trains & history. The train ride was beautiful & peaceful; nothing like a ride through the fields of Lancaster County.

Highly recommended! The steam train ride was awesome! I dare to say that it was the best experience of the Fall! The train is restored so carefully that it really turns into the time machine! You got a feeling that you are thrown back to the beginning of the XX century! Don’t skip that activity!

A wonderful excursion. The train is delightful and the audio commentary is good fun and informative. The journey is just the right length of time to keep young children occupied without being too long. Highly recommend this!

We had a wonderful time here. We got here an hour before our boarding time. We cam specifically for a ride with the beautiful 611. The people here were great. There was lots of enthusiasm from ever person that worked there. They termed it a dream job. The workers on the platform were very helpful and happy! We watched the second steam train come in and out. It was really neat to see. When our time came, we boarded the “ Presidential Car”! It was a Pullman Car made in our home town of Butler, Pennsylvania. The original car was absolutely gorgeous. It was built for a wealthy Philadelphia businessman. The woodworking was exquisite. It was broken down into about 5 or 6 compartments. We were able to sit in one of the smaller compartments with just enough room for two people. I can describe just how nice this suite was. We were served wine and a snack. The conductor came through checking tickets. There were so many people taking pictures of this streamlined gem of a steam train. The ride was really enjoyable. At every passing there were so many people stopped and watching the train roll by. The ride was about an hour long up the line and back. We felt we went back in time for the entire trip. Even the music they placed was from back generations ago. The 611 probably won’t be there long, but if you get a chance even to ride with the regular coal burner, go for it. You won’t regret it!

We had a wonderful time! We took the Night Before Christmas Train. The narrator was wonderful. They even served cookies and milk! We had a surprise visit from Santa as well. The entire staff was amazing. The porter in full uniform even posed for pictures with the girls. What a wonderful experience.

We took our parents and grandchildren to the Santa's Paradise Express last Saturday and had an awesome experience and made great memories. Plenty of parking. The only downside was not enough handicapped parking. It was a walk. We arrived about 45 minutes before our departure like they suggested. This gave us ample time to check in, look around and grab some hot cocoa and a snack at the café. The train ride was a great experience with carolers, and Santa while enjoying the beautiful views around Lancaster. The granddaughters enjoyed themselves. When we were done we had time to get our photos and look around some more. Great memories were made! Thank you! Definitely worth the trip!

This is a great experience for anyone of any age. It was awesome seeing the trains that are over 100 years old come down the tracks and with working coal stoves inside the carts to keep them warm. Everyone who works there is super polite and very helpful. I loved seeing the people in character, it takes you back to a much simpler time and place.

Great ride! Wonderful tour of the local countryside. Coach car was very comfortable. Looks like they have toilets on board. The coal stoves in each car work VERY WELL, according to the conductor, so winter rides should be a treat!

Went for a friend's birthday on the first class car and it was a great experience! Nice 45 minute ride through some scenic Lancaster County countryside in this lovingly maintained historic steam train. For extra cost, you can order food and drink service from the waiter who comes through the car (at least in first class). Well-worth the cost, and when you're done, the Railroad Museum across the street is also an excellent value and super-cool adventure.

We had a great time riding this historic train and learning about it's history. We rode in the luxury car and enjoyed some wine and a charcuterie tray. Highly recommend this attraction

My grandson and I went to ride Thomas the train. They had some neat things for him to do while waiting, moon bounce, small train to ride on, trains to play with, and many games to play as well. They had cute Stores lining the walkways and a nice little restaurant. Teddy, who is 2 and a half years old, refused to get on the train because it was so loud and Thomas the train was pushing the train, so we really would not have seen it sitting on the train for the 45 minute ride.

  • 5/5 Jim D. 7 months ago on Google
Very enjoyable train ride. Just the right length of time. The train left exactly on time and it was a wonderful ride through the countryside and narrated quite well. Highly recommend it on your next trip to Strasburg. We rode the open rail car and the weather was great.

This Strasburg Rail Road experience was one of the best stops for our visit to the area. The rain only added to this adventure as it drizzled down. The scenery was beautiful and it was interesting to watch them repositioning the trains as we stopped. Lots of history here! Something we would do again. Glad we stopped. Gilbert loves magnets they are a must get for our travels and the gift shop did not disappoint. Had to have the t shirt too... Enjoyed learning the history of Strasburg Rail Road. This travel stop is a great find for of all ages to make some treasured memories.

Visited Monday afternoon and rode in the open air car, what an awesome experience! There’s commentary throughout the ride about the history of the railroad and the views are incredible. Absolutely recommend if you’re in the area, can’t wait to go back!

This was a lot of fun. We rode in the lounge car and did the wine and cheese tasting. The views on the ride are decent but the experience is what this is about. Cool to be able to experience a piece of history first hand!

Aug 18, 2023 Coach ride open air car, easy to take photos. So authentic loading the coal (you know it’s full when the water overflows the side car); sound of the escaping steam, low train whistle, and clanging bell! Actors on the “street stage” in period garb, singing vignettes adds to the fun experience. A charming way to see some countryside and hear local History narrated. Worth the price of admission($27/adult) !

Strasburg Rail Road is a fun, affordable adventure for the whole family of all ages! It is an approximate 1/2 hour round-trip train ride taking you through a beautiful scenic ride of Amish & Mennonite lands, with a conductor who gives a historic lesson throughout on how the people of these lands came about, & how they live today. Once the ride is complete, you have the option of going into a general store to purchase unique souvenirs representing the community & experience. I absolutely recommend this as something to do while visiting Strasburg, PA.

I think I was about 12 when my parents first brought my sister and me to ride the train. Now we have a 12 year old grandchild! The station village is prettier than ever, the staff is helpful and goes the extra mile. This time we enjoyed our trip in one of the lounge cars. Beautiful!

A historic scenic railroad. Had a great ride on the NW 611 on its farewell tour and a couple rides on the NW 475. Fun for all ages as you cruise through the beautiful farmland in the country side. Staff are great and helpful.

  • 5/5 Amy O. 10 months ago on Google
I went with my Uncle to ride the 611 before it left, the entry is free, but the train ride cost $40 per ticket - which was utterly worth the ride. This place is wonderful! I'll be returning to ride another one. The additional things this place has and the other local things that kids can do is wonderful. The gift shop, the toys-only gift shop, and the photo options and restaurant are all great additions. This place was wonderful to visit after a 3 1/2 hour drive!
