The place: Nestled in L’Anse is the sweet Café L’Anse, a shared use kitchen and purveyor of baked goods. Seating is of the half bench, half chairs variety along 3 or 4 6-ft tables topped with irregular copper sheets. There’s a single unisex bathroom on the other side of the counter. You wouldn’t believe the sunshine that graces this space in the morning. If you need a reason to be cheerful, that’s certainly one. The food: Incredible. The menu cycles, so be adventurous when you’re visiting! I got eggs (over easy), home fries, and a slice of sourdough toast with a peach turnover and coffee. Everything made me want to savor the experience. The eggs were perfect and golden, the toast was probably the best sourdough I’ve had in my life, and that turnover… I really should have taken advantage of the free refills on my in-house coffee since it was that good, but I was happy to linger over what I started with. I also got some pastries to bring home and they were out of this world. The service: I felt right at home because of the stellar service. The two ladies explained to myself and my friend how the café works and their commitment to quality and environmentally friendly approaches. I even made a connection over family in a similar area out of state. I got the feeling I could have sat there for hours eating baked goods and chatting with folks. Next time: I have to go for lunch. Breakfast was fabulous, but I want to make sure I sample everything!

Highly recommend! We stopped here for lunch on the way to Canyon Gorge. The reuben sandwich was super delicious. I didn't try any of the baked goods, but they all looked great.

This place.. simply amazing. We were up in the area visiting family and my husband went into town and found this Cafe. This place brings a door county feel without the door county price tag. This cafe has what it takes to start a positive change in the business and restaurant culture within the surrounding area.

We stopped again... And again it was marvelous! The breakfasts were delicious and they allowed us to customize our order, by removing ingredients, and then made them to order. Thank you! The endless and delectable cups of coffee and multiple choices of creamer, including oat milk, gave me reason to try them all (except the decaf, though I was tempted.) Jenn used our camera to take a picture of my family, which was delightful and greatly appreciated but too personal to share. It shows the amazing tables chairs and inventive menus. Oh, I almost forgot that we go for the baked goods especially the turnovers. When I die I believe St. Peter will ask about these because they are sinfully delicious and the artistically frosted cupcakes more sinfully decadent. While you're there... Step into the attached gifts shop featuring skilled and talented local artists. What a great gem in the vast and beautiful Keweenaw Bay area.

Ive eaten at Cafe L'Anse alot lately and enjoy the daily variety on the menu of soups sandwiches and breakfast items. I've tried many of the fresh baked cookies pastries and treats they have a sparkle of love and really enjoyed them. I buy my Niemelas maple syrup here since the price is the best in town.

Such a gem! We came here for lunch and had the grilled cheese, salmon burger and peanut butter fudge (to die for!). Food was delicious, staff was so nice. Could tell they were genuinely asking if we were ok vs being forced to. Decor was so well thought out and cute!

I was so happy to have gluten free sandwiches and soup. The food was very, very good! I go to Lanse a lot and never had some place to eat GF. Thank you for having gluten free meals.

I wish there were more Cafe's like this closer to where I live. The friendly staff highlighted my day during a recent pop in visit that I made. Had wanted to check this place out for awhile, and now regret that I hadn't checked it out sooner. Will definitely be coming back again soon.

I not only am a regular customer at Cafe LAnse but I also sell my hand-sewn recycled mittens for all ages next door at The Village Gift Store. Great food, great service, and great value. I highly recommend!

Best place for a sandwich, soup, salad meal and sweets made right there on site. Staff great to be it in the restaurant side or locally made store attached with its own coffee bar in back on that side. Open to all areas from within. Lovely and clean in all areas. Sadly didn't get to keep my birthday plans of going there. Did both dine in and t during same visit.

Editing review based on response of the owner, which was pretty unkind, but warrants further clarification of our review. We ordered tea and a hot cider. Tea was a packet option from most bags that are generally available at grocery stores, not anything unique. Tasted fine but wasn’t particularly exciting. Hot cider was also not mulled, but was just a packet, which is pretty low quality. However, it is a cute place in a good location. Just could be more unique in beverage offerings, as many coffee shops are. We would’ve been willing to pay more for something higher quality and more unique.

One of our favorite places to eat!!! The owners are amazing... Very community oriented... The food is fabulous... I personally suggest either their homemade pizza or their famous Reuben sandwich!!! You can't go wrong with anything on their menu!!!

Stopped by while we were in town. Excellent baked goods and coffee. We also took some dessert to go for later. They did have gluten-free options too.

Yesterday morning we went to Cafe L’Anse before we headed home after a long weekend seeing the beauty of the U.P. It was super cute inside and they had quite a selection. My son and I had the breakfast bowls with scrambled eggs, potatoes, cheese, a choice of meat, plus it came with a side of toast. So delicious and filling! My husband had the breakfast sandwich and he said that was great too! The service was fast and friendly as well. We really hope to go back one day!
