I had the good fortune to meet Spencer and visit Cafe Belay on the grand opening of the shop. The space is just right, spotlessly clean, and Spencer was friendly and accommodating. I enjoyed an excellent breakfast burrito and some one-of-a-kind homemade chai (in a latte) that was great. There are several fine coffee shops in Canon City. Cafe Belay is different for two reasons. First, sustainability, in terms of business practices and ethics, is the foundation for what Spencer is doing. These are deeply held values for him, and Cafe Belay is an expression of these values. Second, Cafe Belay sells rock climbing gear, which I haven't seen in other coffee shops. Given that our region has outstanding rock climbing opportunities, this is a natural pairing. There is a community table, a low game-playing table, and room to sit alone. I'm looking forward to returning more than once and encourage you to check it out.

Excellent coffee. I had the cortado and it was served in a small glass which is very traditional in Europe. My husband had the latte and a pastry. Everything was delicious. Staff was friendly. Coffee shop had a great atmosphere and it was very cozy. A lot cool climbing gear too. Very cool spot.

Without exaggeration the best coffee in Colorado, the best coffee I've personally ever enjoyed. My wife and I stopped here the first morning of our ten day road trip through the state. Over the last seven days of our trip we've hunted the state for something comparable and were left wanting. We woke up in Estes this morning and drove back to Canon City just to have another cup. The owner/roaster Spencer has a true passion for what he does and it shines through on every cup. This is our spot anytime we're in this part of the country and will be ordering regularly to enjoy it back home in Florida.

Cute coffee shop. Limited food options, but the GF blueberry muffin was great. Coffees were great too, and the Chai! They do the Chai all in house. Grong their own spaces and all. It was terrific! Staff is super friendly and helpful! Definitely worth a visit!!!

The owner, Spencer was awesome! Good quality coffee, thoughtful decorations, environmental friendly. Highly recommend this coffee shop.

This coffee shop is a gem and offers properly made espresso drinks, which are hard to come by! The owner is so hospitable and knowledgeable about his craft; he’s definitely a good resource to learn from if you’re not sure about the distinction of espresso drinks. The atmosphere was chill and inviting. Our oat milk cortados were perfect and the burritos were super delicious too. We highly recommend this coffee shop!

All I have to say is HOMEMADE SYRUPS! Best latte of my whole roadtrip!! Silky smooth steamed milk and a creamy espresso pull - no bitterness!! The lavender syrup was so so good.

Seriously top notch! This place is an absolute must if you’re in town. If you like coffee, climbing, or just supporting local businesses you HAVE to stop into Cafe Belay. One of the most impressive things is that the beans are roasted in house, but it gets better! The syrup, Kombucha, the bread and burritos are all done in house as well. The quality really must be tasted to truly appreciate all the love that Spencer puts into his craft. The atmosphere is wonderful and the place is immaculately clean. I would highly recommend the Shelf Roast and the Vanilla Latte.

Maybe the best breakfast burrito I’ve ever had, coffee was absolutely perfect and had a great conversation with the owner. Almost overlooked this place but glad we didn’t miss it. It’s a bit unassuming from the outside but once you are through the door it all makes sense. My only regret is that we got it to go, would have been fun to hang out there a bit.

Stopped by for a light breakfast and coffee after sky diving and I'm so happy I randomly picked this place. Super small on the inside but extremely inviting and cozy. Got a pour over with lavender and a breakfast burrito. I had questions about what you can do with pour-overs and the nice gentleman working was more than happy to answer all of my questions. The breakfast burrito was not just a normal dinky burrito you would normally get, it was full of fresh ingredients and bursting with flavor. Will definitely make this my go-to stop if I'm in the Canon City area!

Loved this place! Coffee is great and they use some of Fellow equipment. Everything is made there, including the banana bread 😋😋 of course their breakfast burrito, a staple for every climber, was DELICIOUS and filled me right up for lunch! I got a cappuccino with oat milk and they did a great job! The consistency of the drink was great! My grandparents got the Greek coffee, it’s like a frappe but like 10x better- not supper sweet and it so smooth! My barista was nice 😊 Definitely stop by and give them some love! Only small complaint is that it didn’t seem like they had a whole lot of air conditioning but maybe that’s because they roast their coffee there too🤷🏽‍♀️:)

What an amazing treasure of a coffee shop. I am so grateful to have it as a resource to the community! Delicious, skillfully roasted, perfectly brewed, beautifully cultivated flavors in a charming atmosphere. Excellent customer service and attention to detail. I highly recommend the cold brew and the kombucha. Perfect on a warm morning in the Cañon City sun!

Cafe Belay always delivers great coffee and service. The Cafe Belay team is dedicated to bringing high quality coffee to Fremont County residents. Every time I go I am greeted like a friend and I can buy some of the best beans in Colorado. We are so glad to have them here.

HIGHLY recommend this coffee shop!! We tried a few different spots and this was definitely a gem. Spencer is really passionate about his business and that transfers in the flavor of the coffee without a doubt. Excellent service and very personable. Of course I had to leave with some coffee beans in hand. We will absolutely come back when we are in the area again! =)
