One of my favorite restaurants. My go to is the double cooked pork, chungking spicy chicken, and any of the green bean dishes.

The food was decent but not quite justified by the price tags. The prices aren't unreasonable, to clarify, but there are places with more authentic and better Chinese food that cost around the same. It can taste a bit Americanized, which I assume is intentional to draw in a bigger variety of customers. The waiting staff was very attentive to our needs.

A good place for eating in. Service was nice and the food was solid. We enjoyed all of our dishes. For some reason we haven’t liked it as much when we get the lunch specials, but was so much better for dining in. Cocktails are also very unique with Asian flavours - Their Chinese names are hilarious and creative.

Excellent service! Great food! One thing that bothered me was the noise that one of the staff made whenever he put empty dishes in the bin. It sounded like some dishes would've broken. Other than that, it was a great experience.

Ordered a bunch of dishes for takeout. Online ordering and pickup process was easy, food is okay. Too hyped about the Michelin mention…but compared to other mentioned Chinese places, this place is just okay. Pricy for the quality/taste, but is the only place that does decent sichuan food around here. Dishes were okay except for the cumin lamb - it was way too chewy and couldn’t eat.

Chinese food out of this world 40.74279 -73.95373 near the 7-train Vernon Boulevard/Jackson Avenue subway station, this restaurant serves Chinese and Sichuan dishes and has earned a Michelin Bibi Gourmand. Hupo is a narrow and long restaurant with tables at the front and more tables after the stairs and a well-stocked bar with wines and cocktails. Make your reservation on weekends. The menu online had a glitch, so an iPad is on hand. Unusual house music accompanies this Chinese experience. In June 2023, as appetizer, we ordered 4 pork soup dumplings ($8) that tasted good but with too much liquid inside. Don’t keep the hot steam in the dumplings, please. The braised fish fillet with vegetables, garlic and chili flake in hot chili soup ($21) is a signature dish and came brimming with chopped garlic and had the fiery, umami-driven complexity we crave in this Sichuan cuisine. It was a gentle assault on the taste buds but did not stun them. The fish was still present in flavour and steamed well. We needed time afterwards to digest and recover from this dish. It was so delicious that we did not want to spoil this culinary delight afterwards. In our memory, we went back to our restaurant visits in China to say: yes, remember that restaurant in China: at that level. So good. Hupo serves Chinese food out of this world. Highly recommended.

This is a hidden gem in LIC. All the food was tasty with fair prices.I recommend this Chinese restaurant hands down. I'll be trying it again soon.

The food is so good. We didn't need a reservation and were able to get seated. It's pretty busy but food came quickly and everything was delicious. The chengsu cold noodles were definitely unique and so flavorful. The double cooked pork belly and the fish filled were also a major highlight and strong recommendation. For those not used to spicy oily food, it might be an adjustment to the taste.

Chongqing cold noodles were really good and came out very quickly, we were generally impressed by all the stir fries here, albeit on the saltier side. Great selection for small group dinners.

We had an amazing lunch. Every dish we ordered was delicious, especially the crispy fried fish fillet, chengdu noodles, double cooked pork and spicy wontons. Look forward to going back and trying more dishes. Service was amazing and the workers are attentive. Really cute spot and happy to finally try this place.

This spot was amazing. Came with a group and tried lots of stuff, and the standouts for us were the pork/shrimp shumai, eggplant, string beans with bamboo shoots, and scallion pancakes. The wait staff was very attentive and thoughtful, and were very helpful around my friend being gluten-free.

Very decent restaurant and interesting interior design. I would give it 5 stars if it weren’t for the Michelin mention. The dishes are definitely very decent but the flavors are just a tiny short of your expectations.

My partner & I decided to order take out from Hupo. It was our first time, and we loved every single thing. Kung pao chicken, wonton soup, scallion pancakes, veggie potstickers, spicy lamb, duck rice, crispy fish fillet etc (we ordered quite a few options). Can’t wait to have it again. Will definitely sit inside next time, for the full experience.
