Downtown Mt. Dora just got a new gem. This restaurant is great. The food is delicious and the owners are very kind and accommodating. They have a nice variety of food (Vegan/Vegetarian) that is made with the best ingredients. I recommend anyone to eat here if you want a healthier and delicious alternative while visiting this town.

I’m so happy I finally tried this veggie friendly place out. Food is amazing, the service is so quick and they’re very attentive. The coffee is so delicious. I ordered nachos, eggplant panini and a meatless empanada (made with impossible meat). Everything was soo flavorful and the portions are great for the price. The cinnamon roll is fresh and tasty (especially with the cafe latte). I’m already planning what I’ll get on my next visit 😁 I also love that they have outdoor seating. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

Finally a vegan spot in Mt. Dora! We happened to stumble upon this on Happy Cow. We were always so disappointed that Mt. Dora doesn’t have great vegan options… until now! The chef and staff are incredibly welcoming. The food is fresh and made with vegan love. My boyfriend and I were so happy to eat here. We can’t wait to go back. XOXO

I eat here often for lunch! The nachos are my favorite!! So flavorful so filling!! Love love love this place! Service is great, owned by such a lovely family. You should try this place vegan or not you won't be disappointed!

Carlos and Roxanna are a husband and wife dream team serving up incredibly delicious, and healthy cuisine with a smile. They are so gracious, and it’s hard to tell what I love more - them or the outstanding food they serve. Y’all need to do yourselves a favor, and come an enjoy what they have to offer! The market it’s in has other places to check out, and a lot of cute indoor and outdoor seating.

Dark & Light Cafe offers organic and freshly made coffee made by people who actually appreciate good, well-made coffee. My cup was brewed in front of me and made strong after asking my preference. It had such a rich, smooth flavor and smelled fantastic. They offer normal milk, almond milk, oat milk and another option I am forgetting... If you love coffee, this is a must-try Cafe! Their food menu also looks wonderful. It appears to be vegan/vegetarian based with breakfast options, as well as lunch favorites like nachos, burgers, and empanadas. They have a wonderful dessert display too (cake, brownies, cookies, etc.). Everything looks delicious. 🤤 Dark and Light is located in an indoor marketplace along with other small stores. You can identify this building by the rainbow coloring and vivid red table tops in the back alley, or the pizza stone oven near the front.

I found this restaurant after searching on HappyCow. It had so many delicious vegan food choices! It was evident that the food was made with love and care. The portions were incredibly generous and each meal was made with fresh ingredients and flavors. The owners, who were delightful and kind, made our experience even more memorable. Their warm hospitality created a welcoming atmosphere that truly enhanced our meal. If you're looking for a place that offers not only delicious, homemade vegan cuisine but also a genuinely pleasant dining experience, this restaurant is an absolute must. Also, don't skip dessert!

From the food to the outstanding service- everything was top notch. We stumbled across this gem while walking around Downtown Mt. Dora. I got the veggie burger. My mom and uncle got the beyond and impossible burgers. You can tell they make everything in house. The burgers were loaded with toppings and the potatoes tasted so fresh and were nicely seasoned. They even had pictures of some of the food items near their registered which helped my autistic uncle pick out his meal. Love the inclusivity. Will be back again to try the other vegan options available because there are A LOT. From homemade empanadas to homemade deserts and everything in between.

I am going to try to put into words what my heart and taste buds feel after my visit today. I am a vegan and have always struggled to find options when wanting to go out to eat other than a salad. I feel absolutely overjoyed having found Dark & Light Cafe. They have SOOOO many options! And there are options for our friends who partake in a traditional American diet as well. Today I tried the bruschetta and a veggie burger. I was blown away with the mouth watering experience I had. The bruschetta was fresh, perfectly toasted, and I loved the arugula on top. The burger had the most amazing sauce with it and another perfectly crisp bun. And it came with a side of beautiful potato wedges. Their pricing was fair too!! I feel completely obsessed with this restaurant. There are so many more things I want to try and I will be visiting quite often for quite a while without ever having to repeat an order. If you are looking for a delicious bite, you HAVE to try this place! You will not be disappointed. The owners are absolutely the nicest people you will meet as well. Which is just icing on the cake!!! I hope they stick around for many years to come!

Run don't walk to "Dark & Light Cafe". The staff are extremely nice & friendly & very sweet. It is located in a place where there is shared space with other business, but very cute. The food is made to order and made from scratch, including the salad dressing. I had thr black bean quesadilla, a spinach empanada, and a ginger walnut salad. Everything was delicious 😋 I will definitely come here again

Food was great, best empanadas I've ever had, the corn and the spinach ones were my favorite. Got the lentil burger also, very filling. The owners were very nice people, they helped me pick what items I wanted. Coming back whenever I'm the area!

We traveled an hour and a half to eat at Dark & Light. Well worth it. What a sweet couple, catering, kind, shared stories about the food being homemade. I had the recommended burrito. It was so delicious. I then had a homemade bake good. Oh my Gosh--delightful. I will take the long drive back real soon.

*My first time there with m y mother and we loved meeting the owners, Carlos and Roxanna! They make all their dishes fresh and with the best ingredients. I never experienced a place like theirs with attention to food quality and presentation. We felt like were special and did not mind the wait. Saying that the food here is amazing feels like an understatement. This local restaurant is a MUST for anyone in the area. And especially for anyone looking for vegan/vegetarian options. The amount of time and love spent on these dishes is what makes this place stand out among the rest. Incredibly friendly owners too!! I highly recommend

Quality vegan food, highly recommend! We tried the yucca appetizer, jackfruit and black bean quesadillas and nachos. All so good!!

The prices are a little steep, but the food was good and came out quickly. The staff was really nice. Just fyi the protein waffle is made with whey protein. The lentil burger is good but dry. Would recommend avocado on top. Would visit again. The seating area is shared with several other food places and can be quite hard to get a table at peak times. It’s hidden down a hallway inside the building away so you have to look for this place.
