Neat place for kids and adults alike to visit. There’s two inside areas, one dedicated to turtles and one to other marine life. Lots of info to absorb and some kiddie-friendly activities, including hands on exploration of different shells, full sized ocean life bones, and a touch tank type exhibit. The marine life building has a bunch of tanks with different fish and even a shark. Outdoors areas include a walk along a path into the marsh area that includes signs about area plants. There’s a dock/pier at the end with expansive views of the wetlands. There’s a second elevated walking path that takes you out over the marsh as well. It’s cool when the tide is going out as you can literally watch/listen to the area drain. All of the staff we encountered were very friendly and interested in engaging with young kids. There’s summer camps that run out of the Institute, as well as daily activities (marsh walks with a guide, feedings, etc) Highly recommend for family or even solo adults. Worth the small entrance fee ($8 adults, not sure about kids) as I’m sure the money is invested back into the research and institute upkeep. There’s also a small gift shop.

It’s a nice place to take kids or adults by a car or a bus. They have a ramp for handicap and a small gift shop. The place has a salt marsh aquarium & teaching tank. They have science activities and crafts. They have picnic tables. You can use your phone to listen to talks about Creatures and flowers outside. They are open over the weekends from Nov.- May then everyday the rest of the year. The people that work there are great at teaching you about the animals. The Cape May Free Zoo is not far so take a picnic lunch for a fun day!

Beautiful place for sightseeing and learning about the wetlands. They have a nice walkway through the wetlands where you can get up close to plants and critters without getting wet. Lots of intersection programs are offered.

We really enjoyed our visit here. The marine life feeding that we got to watch was great... good for people of all ages even if it caters best to the kids. Enjoyed walking out amongst the marshy areas on the raised walking paths. We'll come back.

I love wetlands! Marshes are beautiful!!! The trail is very short, you can go by dry trail or walk along the mud. There's a raised walkway so you can look down into the marsh water and grasses. Small aquarium currently has a baby dogfish shark (it'll be set free or move elsewhere soon) which is super cool. If you like marshes, coastal ecology, nature, or animals, then go! Lots to look at and do, but you can do everything in 2hrs! Loved it!!

It was gorgeous, and you can definitely tell that the workers care about what they're doing! Can't wait to go back however I must warn you all! Bring bug spray because you will be attacked by bugs- Absolutely worth going, keep up the good work!

Very nice place. It is scenic and filled with wildlife. I was able to see and get pictures of animals I had never seen before. Our tour guide was very nice and knew a lot about the plant life in the marsh.

We loved our visit to The Wetlands Institute! The staff were truly outstanding and gave us good, informative information on our visit. The grounds are lovely and there is a lot to see and experience packed into this place! The lecture on horseshoe crabs was interesting and our daughter loved the wetlands walk and the aquarium exhibits. We loved the view from the top portico overlooking the Wetlands. There is a small gift shop here as well. The Wetlands Institute made for a nice excursion on our vacation and gave us something to do on a rainy day!

This was a fun place to visit and learn more about the wetlands and its wildlife. Friendly and helpful staff. Thirteen aquariums with various creatures like eels, dogfish, shrimp, seahorses and an octopus which proved to be most entertaining. There was a discovery area with information on Terrapins and horseshoe crabs. If you're up to it, there was a steep spiral staircase to an observation deck on top the roof overlooking the wetlands. Prices during our visit were $7 for seniors, $8 adults/teens, $6 children 3-12, children under 2 - Free. This admission includes all the areas above. Outside is a walk over the wetlands on a boardwalk path. This is included in the above admission fee or for a suggested donation of $3 if you don't pay to view the inside areas. We visited in the afternoon for nearly 1.5 hours.

Small weekend getaway to Avalon decided to stop here to check out the local wildlife and I was in-store for more than I could have imagined, there is a boardwalk that extends rather far into the marsh with signs identifying the local flora and fauna with descriptions and facts. If you walk to the end there is a special spot that normally has congregation of horse shoe crabs feeding Small building with classrooms and a bathroom for the public, nice place to stay for a few hours and take it all in, check out the watch tower that overlooks the marshes, don't forget your binoculars.
