Heaven! Pure heaven! Mount Mitchell Eco Retreat offers everything you need for the perfect getaway. The rooms are very clean, comfortable and the view from your front porch, whether drinking coffee in the morning or wine in the evening, is spectacular. The quiet environment, along with the most comfortable bed I've ever slept on, will guarantee a peaceful night's sleep. There's plenty of great hiking and biking adventures in the area. If golfing is on your itinerary, the Mount Mitchell Golf course is located a couple of miles from MM Eco Retreat and is one of the most beautiful courses I've ever seen. The back nine is challenging with spectacular scenery. Mount Mitchell Eco Retreat is an incredible place to stay for solo getaways, couples, any size group for family and friends to gather as a community. Rooms are equipped with a mid-size refrigerator, coffee maker and a microwave. Grills are onsite for cooking out and a community kitchen is available to prepare large meals. I loved my experience at Mount Mitchell Eco Retreat and look forward to returning soon. Be sure to say hello to Olive and Happy! (My friend, Olive, in the photo!)

What a special place. The location, views, cabins, lodge, all were excellent. Rustic setting with the comforts of modern accommodations. We so appreciated the absence of TVs, even with two small children. We were here for a short stay while exploring the Blue Ridge Parkway, but would love to return to this spot for a longer visit. The perfect spot to disconnect and truly relax surrounded by nature.

My experience at the Mt. Mitchell Eco Retreat Center in the mountains of North Carolina was nothing short of exceptional. The breathtaking views created a serene backdrop for a truly relaxing getaway. The hosts, Heather and Sean, were warm and inviting, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere throughout my stay. The rooms were not only beautiful but also meticulously maintained, adding a touch of comfort to the overall eco-friendly charm. The main lodge has a fully outfitted kitchen, yoga room, lots of comfy seating around a working fireplace, tables for family style meals, and a big, beautiful front porch. i highly recommend the Mt. Mitchel Eco Retreat Center for those seeking both tranquility and sustainability for your next gathering.

Go here!!! This place is perfect for large groups, family vacations, weddings, couples, singles, just about anybody. Our experience was wonderful! It’s secluded, but yet close enough to go have dinner, the grounds are beautiful, the views are great, the bed is comfortable, and we enjoyed it so much. The Healing Room has a wonderful vibe/zen.. We booked a massage with Jessica. She was fantastic, adorable, and the massage was wonderful. The experience we had was top notch!

We really enjoyed our stay at this location & wished we could stay longer! The accommodations were true to the pictures on their website & the ease of checking in/out was greatly appreciated. We were thrilled when the resident dogs joined us for coffee on our suite porch & during our ping pong rallies. My favorite was how soft the bedding was. My uncle & I liked their complimentary coffee (seeps like a tea bag) but my brother wasn't a fan so he had hot cocoa instead. Next time we'll bring our spouses, a keurig for my brother & stay longer! Many thanks to MMER!

A lovely place in the Blue Ridge Mountains to spend a family holiday either relaxing or enjoying hikes in the area. The units are very comfortable, the views spectacular and the grounds are lovely to ramble through. A particularly nice feature is the main lodge with its excellently stocked large communal kitchen and dining area for the use of the guests. We hope to come back soon!

This retreat is truly a gem. It is secluded and has a tremendous view of Mt Mitchell. The Cabins have wonderful porches, and the rooms were absolutely outstanding on the inside. There is a large common area open 24/7 for coffee, tea, games and socializing. There is a full kitchen to prepare any type of meal you wish. There are no nearby stores and the only restaurant nearby is 5 miles away at the Mt. Mitchell golf course, open for dinner wed-sat. The host family is very supportive and accessible.

A 3 night stay. Clean, well presented room. Communal cooking facilities are very good and plenty of fridge and freezer space in rooms and kitchen (I brought home-made frozen meals to save time, but cooking from scratch is easy with all equipment supplied, so you only need to bring food). Several fire pits 🔥 for evening relaxing with inexpensive dried firewood to buy. Location is beautiful and quiet. It's a well thought-out and comfortable retreat and a thoroughly enjoyable and memorable stay! 👍

My first stay at Mount Mitchell Eco Retreat was everything I could have hoped for and in fact way beyond my expectations. Pristine care for the amazing facilities situated in an amazing location. You can feel the love and care that goes into every aspect of this pace and that includes the Love you feel as a guest there. Places where our relationship to Nature is held and appreciated to the highest degree are so needed in these times . Go visit!!

Eco lodge is a beauty! The setting is worth the visit. My 93 year old mom and I had the place to ourselves in late Nov. she enjoyed the great room with a beautiful fireplace,Xmas tree and stunning views. Having ramps to our room and lodge was great. I loved the group kitchen so much fun to cook in better than any restaurant. I enjoyed a relaxing massage from Jessica just 20 steps from my room. She is a keeper. The healing house was so quiet and peaceful I booked a second massage with Jessica. This lodge is close to the Blue Ridge highway and Mt Mitchell and so much more. I plan on coming back in the Spring when the rhododendrons are out hopefully with friends. Part of the enjoyment is the self service you feel like it’s home. If help is needed the owners are very pleasant and available.

Last week, my niece used the Mount Mitchell Eco Retreat as the destination for her wedding. Everything was absolutely lovely. From the accommodations to the view. Heather was wonderful. If we had any questions or needed anything she was immediately there to assist. We will definitely return for another visit.

New owners, with a nicely remodeled dude ranch from back in the day. If you want to be proximate to Mt. Mitchell recreation this is a great location; nicely appointed - in the community-lodge-style format, well maintained. Good value. Didn't leave a service review because we had an entirely self-serve experience, which is just what we were looking for. Would stay here again.

We think this would be a fine community for America’s elderly. It has everything we need: private rooms and baths; one per person. The Great Room with the fire and game boards. Porch with rockers: I developed a relationship with Mount Mitchell, clouds, foliage. Trail maps? Are there local caterers? Bed linens were great! Thank you for two pleasant days. We loved Lulu the pup and the other canine friends!

Our recent stay at Mount Mitchell Eco Retreat was one of the highlights of our trip. It truly was a place to commune with nature - from the cool mountain air (in July!), the babbling brook close by, the variety of foliage, sounds of birds by day and fireflies at night, to the majestic view of Mount Mitchell from the lodge. Owners Heather and Sean were so welcoming and friendly. They shared some interesting history about the area and their mission for the retreat. Our room, in the Mitchell lodge, was appealing to the eye, cozy and comfortable. The special touches and eco-friendly updates in the rooms and around the lodge were notable. There was a great porch, right outside the front door of our room, with rocking chairs. The chairs and view provided the perfect setting to enjoy nature, read, relax, and talk. Having no tv was actually a nice change of pace! Use of the public stoves, refrigerators, and any kind of cooking utensils, 24/7 in the main lodge helped us save money on meals and provided a nice community setting to meet others. The grounds were very well-kept and fun to explore. The owner's dog, Olive, was friendly and smart. She greeted us when we arrived and came by on the morning we were leaving as if to tell us goodbye. We will definitely will stay at the Mount Mitchel Eco Retreat again when in the area. We highly recommend it as a wonderful getaway location and with easy access to the Blue Ridge Parkway, Mount Mitchell, hiking trails and other activities for all ages!

We had an incredible stay at the retreat center. The rooms were clean and well appointed. We spent the majority of our time at the lodge visiting with family on the porch and gathered around the fireplace. We prepared all our meals in the kitchen which is well appointed as well.

We stayed here for a wedding and loved the entire place! The cabin we stayed in was very clean and cozy. Loved the sustainability focus of the whole retreat and the view was incredible from the main lodge. Would definitely recommend staying here if you’re thinking about visiting Mount Mitchell!

The accommodations including rooms, commercial kitchen, group spaces, views and landscapes were outstanding! Our cousins reunion plans to meet there again. Space allows for extended family groups, business retreats, church groups and individuals to enjoy the comforts of a suite or gatherings around multi options for a roaring fire, wood provided. Hike or just enjoy the view of Mt. MITCHELL or enjoy an old fashion water hole to cool off near by.

Thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Mt. Mitchell Eco Retreat. Staff is great. Location is great. Front porches & rocking chairs are perfect. Scenery is beyond beautiful. Kitchen is fantastic & we made full use of it. We’re going back. Can’t say enough positives about this place. If you like quiet R&R, this is your place.

I hosted a women's retreat here and we were both taken good care of by Sean and Heather, and left to ourselves to use the space as we needed. The rooms are beautifully appointed and the lodge's wood burning fireplace was a great place to gather in the evenings. The Healing House was perfect for our group work. A wonderful experience!

The property is beautiful, the views amazing, and very close to excellent hiking all around. The community kitchen is professional grade. Beds and rooms super comfy and cozy. The main lodge fireplace sitting area is story book. Bring a vehicle you feel good about on winding mountain roads. The owners live on the property, very nice and available to help, but the stay is mostly self service. Much like airBnB.
