I can't say enough good things about this hotel. It's a gem. We've stayed there once and I've stayed there myself for work. I'm not staying anywhere but there if I'm working in the valley or if we are on an antiquing trip. Rooms are great, service is great and the people there are wonderful. I've never experienced a hotel like that with the chains. Luray is a wonderful town with all sorts of things going on and their river walk is an undiscovered place to visit. You can't go wrong there.

Stayed one night while on a bicycle tour. The Inn exceeded my expectations in every way. The staff were genuinely friendly, the hotel was immaculate, and my room was spacious and very comfortable. I didn't use the pool, but the hot tub was a nice amenity. Would definitely stay again if I was on Luray.

The Mimslyn Inn is awesome. We stayed in the Panorama Cottage. It was very clean and comfortable. We also used both pools and the hot tub. All were clean and in good working order. The grounds and hotel were very nicely maintained and ALL staff were very helpful and friendly. The Speak Easy Restaurant was very nice. The live entertainment was good and the food was spectacular! Great place. Will be back!

We visited Shenandoah National Park and Luray Caverns, and this seemed like the best accommodations in the area. We stayed for three nights. The inn is imposing, with a grand facade perched on a rise and lovely grounds. The mansion-like interior is spacious and, while historic, it's well-maintained and comfortable. We stayed in a suite that had ample room, a very comfortable bed, and a well laid-out bathroom. Breakfast featured a choice of two quiches (which did not vary over our stay), as well as cereal and muffins -- not a huge variety but perfect for us, and we appreciated its availability at 7:30 (coffee in a thermos is available earlier). The staff was uniformly cheerful and helpful. We ate dinner twice at Speakeasy. The menu is not huge and don't ask for any variations, but the prices are reasonable and the food tasty. We enjoyed our stay and would return if we're in the area again.

Three stars for the Beauty and stately appearance when approaching the hotel. The lobby is grand and our desk attendant, Fred was excellent. The room was very disappointing considering the price. The shower was lined with black mold, the is no exhaust fan in the bathroom which would help with mold build up. The furniture is old not comfortable in any way. The tv is old and very small. It is on a pull out shelf but even pulling it out all the way, it can only be viewed by on of the beds or by sitting in the scratch, hard couch and chair. There is no mini fridge or coffee maker, no complimentary water. The bed mattresses need updating as well, there is zero edge support and feel like you are falling off the bed if you roll to the edges or sit down. There aren’t any suitcase stands but there is a big wooded dresser and closet. Instead of a big dresser, having a mini fridge , coffee pot and upgrade on tv would make more sense. We had a few cocktails at the Speakeasy but did not get good service. We waited 20 minutes while at least 4 servers hung out talking to each other and finally just as we were about to go to the bar and get our own drinks, a waitress came over. The drinks were lacking in presentation, and what you would expect from a lower priced, average restaurant. I expect better when you have a cocktail menu and charge more. At least, premium liquor should be used and better garnishes.

What a wonderful, quaint place. Upon arriving we had a reservation and some specific rooms needs. Beth at the front desk was very knowledgeable, kind and let us tour a couple of rooms before we settled on one to ensure we were comfortable and we had an amazing stay.

This place definitely needs an engineer to keep up with repairs. The rooms needed work. I understand cosmetic stuff, but mold and grime isn't acceptable. The view was the only nice thing about this. The F&B team was friendly. However, the front desk wasn't friendly at all. Specially this heavy set guy with glasses. We tried to talk with him but he would make smart remarks. Overall not a great experience.

Shared dinner with wife on a special family event anniversary & long day trip out of NoVA. Charming well maintained 1931 historic Inn is the perfect venue for a stay when visiting the Shenandoah National Park & nearby caverns & Luray Valley area shops. Restaurant Manager Casi was outstanding as was the Front Desk Manager Fred who helped with our souvenir purchases. Cannot comment on rooms, but the huge lobby area with the roaring gas fireplace was both stately & cozy. Plan to return for a stay during one of the many special events. This inn was an unexpected great find indeed.

It's a beautiful older hotel. The atmosphere reminds me of the Great Gatsby. I was a little disappointed at the $100 deposit fee , but it is reimbursed. The check in was not overly friendly, but polite at least..Just beware this is an older hotel and the rooms while very clean, haven't been remodeled recently. I also was disappointed they don't allow guests to play the baby grand (Im a musician), but such is life.

Was on a one day bus tour in the area. The tour group only had lunch there. The food and service were excellent. The atmosphere and decor also met expectations. The servers and personel were very friendly and accommodating. I would definitely consider booking a room in the future if we were back in the area.

A feel of European luxury in Luray! You enter and are wowed by old world charm - fireplace, grouped seating areas, antique and tasteful decor! We stayed just one night for our anniversary in a Roosevelt suite on the main floor just steps away from the beautiful expansive lobby. The staff were friendly, and blew us away - they brought a small bottle of sparkling wine and champagne glasses to our room for our anniversary, in addition to a lovely card! The thoughtfulness, care and attention to detail made this a stay never to be forgotten. We also had breakfast in the gorgeous dining room, with tall, swagged windows and chandeliers - it was very good, and priced reasonably. Treat yourself and stay here - although we had a suite, the Historic rooms look just as lovely, as do the cabins and other amenities! Love you, Mimslyn! Thank you for making our 40th so memorable!

We've been coming here for 20 years for different reasons ... but never stayed in the rooms. Usually we'd have a meal here. But we decided to give it a shot. The staff is very friendly and the service has been good. The decor is dated ( in keeping with the period that the hotel was built ). I would call this place cozy . The rooms leave a lot to be desired. The bathroom definitely needs at least an update, the T.V. is small ( 32in). The bed is a brick, and blankets are spare ( that's me being kind ). But the room is clean. At the end of the day, the question is... would I come back? The answer is yes. This place has been a part of my family's life for nearly 20 years . My best friend and niece came up to visit while we stayed here. My niece's very first visit was when she was 2, and she turned 22 this September . Luray and this hotel is just in our blood.

Stumbled upon this gem while visiting Shenandoah/Skyline Drive. All I can say is wow! The presentation and preservation of this hotel is incredible. The attention to detail, the cleanliness, the staff were top notch. The beds are extremely comfortable. I wish I could live here! We didn't try the food but we will next time as it all looked delicious. We will be back! 10/10

Quiet, very well kept. Beautiful rooms, grand dining room. Grand piano in the lobby where they have live music played on occasion. Friendly staff, comfortable beds, very nice pool. Food was amazing.

We rented a cabin. I get it, it’s gonna be old and not luxurious. This place needed some serious remodeling from walking in the front door and falling because of the way the designers did the entry into the cabin which was just stupid. The food and service in the restaurant was good. I would not stay there again and if I had to I would not rent a cabin. Staff was friendly, professional and accommodating.

Perfect place to stay. So peaceful. Love the cottages. I can't believe how much is offered for the Experience Luray 2 night package.tons of deals. Cottages have all the amenities. Pool is clean and they even supply towels. Staff is very accommodating. We had a few glitches but the staff resolved the problems in a timely manner. My 3rd trip here.

A perfect Easter brunch! What a delightful surprise at the Mimslyn Inn! We were a party of six and all agreed this was the finest Easter brunch any of us have attended. Absolutely EVERYTHING was delicious, fresh and original. As a vegetarian I wasn’t expecting much but I was pleasantly surprised by the offerings. The staff was overwhelming kind and professional (our waitress Rebekah went above and beyond, the host was friendly and welcoming, and the food station attendant was lovely). The dining room looked stunning with hints of Victorian grandeur. Next time we will definitely be staying the night. Looking forward to the Elvis show in December.
