Please do try it if you are interested to spend some time outdoors and the best part is it won’t cost you anything. We went for a stroll in the city park instead of waiting for the next street car. In the directions, we found that there is a sculpture garden so we tried to find the tickets and to our surprise it was free!. We entered and got amazed, it was a well spent hour i would say. Both the garden and the sculptures are unique. Also the city park has more such things inside for you to explore with your family.

I honestly can't believe this is free. The gardens are amazing! You could easily spend over 2 hours here walking and looking at all of the sculptures. Definitely a must visit if you are in town!

Visited this gem in 2021 while exploring New Orleans. It is a part of the New Orleans Museum of Art. At that time, we had to pay $5 per person to enter, but now it's free. The 12-acre sculpture garden is a masterpiece with 90+ magnificent sculptures and landscapes, set amidst hundreds of trees, 200-year-old live oaks, palmettos, and shrubs. The garden also offers an outdoor amphitheater, stage, reflecting lagoon, pedestrian bridges and walkways, and a new gallery. Highly recommend to visit. This is a unique opportunity for visitors who treasure the arts.

The Sydney and Wanda Besthoff Sculpture Gardens is an almost dizzying collection of sculpture. Walking at a fast pace we barely had time to see it in an afternoon. If you like modern sculpture this is a can’t miss when you are in City Park. A wonderful collection.

Our visit to the sculpture garden was supposed to be a prequel to the museum as we waited for it to open. But we enjoyed it so much we stayed and explored it for a couple more hours. So many interesting and beautiful pieces in a tranquil shaded space. Really enjoyed all the water elements as well. We had a lot of fun trying to predict the names of the pieces as we approached them. We were generally always wrong but it helped us look at each piece more thoughtfully. For the parts of the garden that are less shaded I recommend you bring a hat, water, sunscreen and perhaps even an umbrella. Otherwise you'll be more tempted to cut your visit short because of the sun and heat.

Absolutely one of the best sculpture gardens I’ve ever been to. So many great pieces of art to enjoy while you wander around the gardens. “Karma” was definitely my favorite one from the entire collection. It creates this sense of infinity and makes you think about the artist’s concept. Would definitely recommend coming here. And it’s entirely free. Just make sure to bring enough water, especially if you’re visiting during the hottest months.

Very well maintained beautiful sculpture garden in city park . It’s free to enter. You can spend as long as you want ! Min time required will be about:45mins -1 hour. It’s open air. So, recommend going in when it’s cooler so you can spend more time admiring the sculptures. We went on the weekend and it wasn’t very busy. There’s a very interesting colorful bridge. Catch a watermelon cooler at the stall where you enter! :)

A must go to in NOLA. Loved the myriad of sculptures. I recommend checking this place out while it's raining...but the rain can't be that hard. Light. Drizzle. The bridge with the Mississippi river (I think) on it is one of my favorites. The perfect place for your bf to do the luddy. We also got to see our friend again... blue dog!!! 10/10 recommend.

Absolutely incredible!! You have to stop by this park at some point if you’re visiting New Orleans. It’s a very extensive trail leading you through tons of cool artwork. Some of the modern art pieces look pretty weird, but the whole experience of walking through beautiful gardens makes this a perfect way to spend a few hours of your time. This was one of our favorite spots from the whole trip.

I cannot believe this is free! In City Park, this was such a cool place to spend an hour or two. So many different types of sculptures, I never knew what to expect next (in a good way)! It was such a delight to go to, and I hope that you go too!

World class. The collection is exquisite and the landscaping is unrivaled. Seeing as it is free and located in City Park, my recommendation is to go early and enjoy it then catch the museum, or botanical gardens, or have beignets that Cafe du Monde and then return again to the garden to catch it with different light.

A delightful garden walk in a gorgeous park setting. Sculptures from a diverse group of artists, past and present, masters and unknowns. Expertly curated with enough diversity to delight all who attend. Highly recommend!

Although the sculpture garden was an impromptu stop on our itinerary, it actually made for a memorable experience! Beautiful scenery and artwork makes this garden an excellent place for a walk.

I highly recommend you venture off from the French Quarter and see this Sculpture Garden & Museum. A bunch of neat art. I preferred the garden over the museum but both were really great experiences.

One of the best places in New Orleans to enjoy great artistic sculptures. On top of this, the entry is free and if you are tired, cafe du monde has an outlet there. PS: You can easily spend over 2-3 hours here if you love enjoying nature and marveling at amazing sculptures. Can't recommend this place enough :)

It was a sunny day and I was amazed by the variety and beauty of the artworks on display. The park is spacious and well-maintained, with sculptures of different sizes, shapes, and materials. Some of them are abstract and intriguing, while others are realistic and expressive. The park is a great place to enjoy art and nature in harmony.

Loved this! Highly recommend for the beautiful sculptor and a nice walk in nature. There's a pond throughout the garden and lots of benches to sit and even the surrounding area if you enter from the city park is nice walk to get to the garden if you have time! Will definitely come again especially in a day the museum is art is open as it's closed in Monday. Also the entrance to the garden is free / whatever you want donations

What an amazing value for only $5. Bring your walking shoes and a bottle of water. I appreciated the guide at the front gate suggestion to start on the left. Beautiful scenic walkways. Great place to bring children very open yet contained within the fenced area.

Beautiful park with lots of interesting sculptures. Such a great value for $5. As an uninformed art person, I really appreciated the pieces on display and the way the garden was laid out to entice you to walk the entire garden

Spectacular sculpture garden! Although I didn’t get a chance to check out the art museum, we stopped here for a short stroll not really expecting much. Beautifully maintained area and such a variety of sculptures.

An incredible experience walking through the outdoor sculpture museum. So many things to see, that will be sure to amaze you. Even the gorgeous garden setting, the winding sidewalks, the ponds and water channels and the local bird life. Best five dollars that I have ever spent.

The sculpture garden is a small oasis within the city! The sculptures are great and the nature is awesome! Renting a bike and biking around the park might be also very nice! I would also recommend to combine this with visiting NOMA that is only a few meters away from the sculpture garden! We really loved both!!!

Free to enter sculpture garden adjacent to the Museum of Art. My husband and I enjoyed a leisurely stroll through grounds whilst admiring many forms of sculpture from multiple angles. Soothing and inspiring it was a beautiful day in the park.

A beautiful park and a lot of wonderful wonderful sculptures. A few were a little odd and defied explanation, proving that art is definitely subjective. Is definitely worth a visit and a nice walk. Didn't hurt that it was free!

What an incredible sculpture garden. The kids enjoyed walking around and seeing the giant sculptures. It's art so be aware there is nudity. The trees are stunning.

The day I went I was on the outside looking in. Was super upset I didn't even know about this place until we did one of our tours on the last day. I'm a huge fan of art and just creative nature in general so would of loved to throughly check the place out. For sure will check this out fully if ever back in the area. Looks like we missed out this time around.

Entry is now included as part of Museum of Art. Thoroughly enjoyed this more than the museum! Beautiful manicured gardens and tastefully laid out and designed. Recommend going early morning or later in afternoon as it was very hot in the recent heat.

What a wonderful park! Sculpture everywhere in a beautiful garden setting with lakes and ponds throughout. And check out the egrets relaxing amongst the art. Family freindly!

Beautiful sculptures, but nowhere to tell you where to go. A bunch or circles, half circles. We think we got everything but it would have been good to get a map of the grounds or an order of which they think it best to see the sculptures.

Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden is exceptional! It’s extraordinary to see so many signature pieces by world-renowned artists in one garden. Every time I am in NOLA, I come here to walk the Mirror Labyrinth by Jeppe Hein. A walk in the Sculpture Garden is meditative, restorative, and energizing for me. It beckons.💎

A local New Orleans friend took me to the Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden. Having visited Storm King Sculpture Garden in New York earlier this year, I was tickled to recognize pieces at Besthoff by sculptors who also had work at Storm King. The Besthoff Sculpture Garden is much smaller of course - only 11 acres in City Park, but the day I visited the weather could not have been better and the whole experience was delightful.

We walked the beautiful grounds of this place on our last day in NOLO. We were a group of 6 (2 adults, 4 kids) and paid $10 to get in. Free parking, easy to walk, and some amazing works of art. If you are looking for something affordable to do, this would be great. We didn't have a chance to check out the museum like we wanted, but this was first on our list since we have children that like to run and explore. If we ever come back to NOLO we will be back to visit this park and all the other cool places they offer. Seriously wish they had huge parks like this in FL. After we left we enjoy a sno ball that was being sold just in front of the museum.

If you visit the museum don't miss the adjacent sculpture garden. The pieces are so much fun. We spent hours wandering around the park and enjoying the pieces. There were several Renoirs and some really interesting modern works. It's a must see.

Definitely worth a stop if you like sculpture art, beautiful scenery and a peaceful place away from the normal city hustle. Great way to stretch your legs along the paved smooth path. We had a much longer walk as the walkway connecting the 2 sides was flooded. Seating along the path when you need a break or just want to sit and ponder a sculpture. Pay what you want donation box at entrance. Signs next to each sculpture make it easy to research the artist or sculpture name further. If you are staying in the French quarter it's easy to get here via bus or street car.

So peaceful and relaxing. So much shade to just sit and relax in such tranquility, being surrounded by such amazing sculptures. I needed a moment for self, being so loud in the quarters of New Orleans during July 4th weekend.

I drove a wedding group here for a photo session in this beautiful outdoor space. Featuring sculptures set among lagoons, ancient moss-draped live oaks, bridges and paths lined w/great variety of outdoor sculptures. There was a beautiful concert held where people sat in the grass and enjoyed a free concert.

Boring af. Totally wasted time to commute down. Not much description for each piece of art, lacked meaning and depth. Too many sculptures with genitals? My SO said the best part was the terrapins in the lake. 1 star for the nice grounds and the museum cafe.

  • 5/5 JD M. 2 years ago on Google
Amazingly beautiful and fun place, lots priced, and HUGE!!! Some of the sculptures look like a kid who waited till last minute to complete a project, but most were amazing, large, and just wonderful to view!!!
