We were taking a week long trip on our motorcycles and wanted to end the day with supper at the Dillard House. We found Mountain Aire on a travel site with good reviews. The reviews were spot on. The rooms are clean and comfortable, conveniences are close by and Frank is amazing. He is a marvelous host and made sure we had everything we needed including a nice relaxing evening by the fire pit. If you are ever up this way and need a nice and affordable place to stay, come see Frank at Mountain Aire.

We had an amazing stay. The cottage we stayed in was beautiful, clean, and had all the amenities you would need. The grounds were well kept and we loved walking through and viewing all the plants and trees. The views of the mountains were amazing. The owner Frank was very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. We enjoyed our chats with him. We look forward to our next stay.

Our stay was absolutely wonderful. This hidden gem is convenient to all the downtown shopping and restaurants. Cottage was very clean, amenities were great, the views were spectacular, and the owner is extremely helpful and friendly. Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to celebrate our 30th anniversary in the Clear View cottage.

What a wonderful vacation spot. Great rooms, set up for extreme comfort and relaxation. Centrally located for accessing nearby activities. Owner added little personalizations that made our anniversary visit even more special. Would absolutely visit again!

Discovered our new place to stay when visiting Clayton. Frank and Cindy are the best host travelers could ever ask for. Always attentive to our every wants and made us feel welcomed. Will definitely stay here every time we are in Clayton.

For the first night of our weekend motorcycle trip we stayed here. We really enjoyed the accommodations as they were clean and cozy. Its is impressive, all the work he has done to make this place nice. Frank is professional and friendly. We checked in, then went into town and had some dinner. When we came back we enjoyed a nightcap by the fire pit. We will see you again, thank you.

Stayed mid-May 2022. Room was clean and lovely (Dogwood Room). Rocking chairs on the front porch and seating around the fire pit were comfortable and an excellent place for conversation. Quaint, peaceful, and an excellent host! We would recommend to any travelers.

I don't know why we haven't stayed here before, but after our first stay it sure won't be our last! We arrived around 4pm and was greeted by Frank, the owner/inkeeper. After taking care of the financials, he walked me to our room and made sure I was aware of the little things, like how to operate the mini-split AC/Heater and the TV (2 remotes and cable). There was also a personalized welcome note on the door! What a nice touch! We opted for an Inn room since we were only staying one night. The room was cozy and had a full size refrigerator, microwave, toaster, and microwave. There is also a large ceiling fan in the main area. We had no issues keeping the climate at a comfortable temperature in the room. Two large recliners and a comfortable bed adorned the room. The bed is tall, but you are provided with steps on both sides to facilitate getting up and under the covers. Outside, there is a communal fire pit with seating and two large tree swings. The pit area is stocked with logs, kindling, a log splitter, sledgehammer, and anything else you need to get a roaring fire going. There is a great view from the pit area as well. The location is perfect in our opinion. You are off the main Hwy 441, but literally a 2 minute drive to downtown Clayton where there are a number of hometown restaurants and shops. It could probably be walked in 15-20 minutes. Our trip to Black Rock Mountain State Park was only 13 minutes. Frank hadn't met my wife before our checkout, but I had told him her name. When he saw us loading up, he make it a point to introduce himself to my wife and call her by her name! The personal touches were awesome, and made us feel like we were valued guests at a old style Inn vs a folio number in a computer. Old style charm at it's best! We will definitely be back and look forward to a longer stay in one of the cottages! Highly suggest you give Mountain Aire a try!!

Stayed here many times over the years because, it’s cozy, clean, priced right, great view, out of the way without be out of the way and the owner Frank is the best host you’ll likely ever meet. There’s more, best to just experience and enjoy it.
