Went here for dinner one night, and oh my goodness it was so good. I had the strip steak which was cooked absolutely perfect, it had so much flavor. It was one of the best steaks I’ve ever had . It was accompanied with a fantastic baked potato. The restaurant itself was really cool, it felt like I went back in time. Also, service was excellent and attentive. 100% recommend

We reserved a spot in the restaurant. The food, service, and atmosphere were top-notch. We shared the Kings French onion soup to start. Then we had the pork tenderloin with baked potato and the house special, seafood Isabella, which were both excellent. Cooked to perfection. We ended with a slice caramel crunch cake and an Irish coffee each. Will definitely be back and would highly recommend this place as a must stop for lunch or dinner.

I had a Crab sandwich, very good, wanted Cream of Crab soup, it was unavailable!😔our son had a turkey and cheese sandwich, he was pleased, my husband had a Black bean burger, he said was delicious. The downfall is having the walk down two flights of old stairs in the dark! The menu was difficult to read in the dark. We did enjoy the ambiance minus the few noisy children there with tourists. The service was superb!

Loved this place! The period clothing and the ambiance was wonderful! Our whole dinner from beginning to end was delicious. Started with the spinach salad with hot bacon dressing and it was everything the waiter said it would be. Our entrees were amazing and then to end it with a piece of cheesecake. It was our anniversary dinner and this place made it perfect!

Worth the wait! We had to wait about an hour and a half, but it was absolutely worth it. We were in the Tavern and the atmosphere was amazing, candlelit with awesome decor. The food was amazing, the French onion soup, the roasted chicken, the steak, all perfect. The service was also very good. We will definitely be back someday and I recommend this place to anyone visiting Gettysburg!

Such a great experience and atmosphere! The bartender was so sweet and the locals were fantastic to talk to! The soup is one of the best ones I've ever eaten! Also don't forget the free museum tour upstairs!

Great experience here! The atmosphere was traditional Gettysburg and the food was really good! We had the crab cakes, crab imperial, barbecued ribs and french onion soup! The french onion soup was very unique as it had chunks of brisket in it and really said it apart from any other kind of had before. Really good! We’ll definitely be back as this is one of our favorite restaurants in Gettysburg.

My party of three had lunch. Excellent burger with blue cheese and bacon. Cocktails were great too. Perfect location. A bit of a wait since they don't take reservations but it's worth it. You may even see a ghost or two. We did not stay at the hotel so can't comment on room accommodations.

Plenty of free parking is a great way to be welcomed. We went on a Sunday afternoon at 2pm, and the place was packed. After eating, we know why. The hostess has the place locked down completely, even to seats at the bar, of which we got the last two. The bartender lady was polite, attentive, and not intrusive. My wife’s beverage was served in a keepsake glass, and the bartender lady took great care to wrap it in paper and give us a special bag for it for a safe trip home. The space is not small, and yet cozy. The low-ish ceiling keeps it warm, but does not make it noisy. The food was delicious and big, allowing each of us to take home half of our meals. Highly recommend it. They also have rooms to rent. It was also part of the Underground Railroad. Was the owner a Mason? My sandwich was named for such an affiliation.

Did not stay. Dinner only. Dinner was absolutely amazing, and I loved the downstairs bar. Cozy, authentic, and romantic. Server was extremely rude. She seemed annoyed from the time we sat down, and after she brought out our drinks, I saw that my husband's cocktail was missing. I very politely said that my husband had also ordered the same cocktail as me. She turned to walk away, then turned around and yelled back at me twice that she only had two hands. It was extremely embarrassing and also inappropriate. She could have said, oh yes, it is coming. Id go back for food but would steer clear of that server and her attitude. Tall brunette.

I've been to Gettysburg four times, & I always eat here. I love the Springhouse Tavern located downstairs. The Baked King's Onion Soup is AMAZING!! I have never had a bad meal here. The atmosphere is very cozy, & the service is great! It is in a very convenient location, within walking distance of several hotels. Give it a try! I very much recommend!

We had a delicious lunch! Onion soup was so yummy and so was the crab cake sandwich. I ordered a serving of the date and nut bread to go and had that for breakfast today. Yum! Shaun our server was friendly and attentive. His recommendations were terrific. We also met Dawn who was so kind and helpful when I ask questions. She made sure we happy and we really appreciated her! Wonderful experience all around this historical and beautiful tavern!

We went to the Spring House Tavern part of the property. This is their restaurant & bar in the basement! Lounging and eating in the stone foundation basement that is over 250 years old was incredible! The atmosphere & ambiance is truly something very special! The food was also really great too! The Maryland crab cakes are the real deal authentically made with mostly lump crab meat. Their bread rolls tasted fresh & soft, their Pecan Pie was the best I have ever tasted & their Raspberry sorbert was extremely refreshing packed full of flavor. We look forward to returning again! Maybe to even stay in 1 of their hotel rooms next time!

We came back on Thursday to celebrate our first anniversary. Thank you Dobbins House for a great night. We started with a cocktail and had the chicken and prime rib. The house dressing on the salad was perfection along with the bread, our meals and service. Thank you for a wonderful night.

This place is amazing. It's a must stop if you visit Gettysburg. The food is excellent and it's a beautiful historic house. The tavern is also a great spot to grab some drinks. Staff is always friendly and helpful. The French onion soup is delicious.

This review is about the restaurant only. First, the food was pretty good. The service, in particular the person seating people was not good. We arrived with a wheelchair, were told it would be a few minutes to set up a table in the area that was accessible. About 20 minutes pass and we still aren't seated. People keep coming in and getting brought into the other area and we just waited and waited. When we finally got seated (the "set up" was some silverware) we waited another 15 minutes for a server. The server was pleasant. The food was tasty. I doubt I would return as it's not cool to make people wait that long when there was obviously no need to wait.

The food was amazing! We had to wait 1.5 hours, but it was worth the wait. The staff was very nice. They were busy, so have grace with the wait times. The French onion soup was incredible. Best I have ever had. My husband and daughter had the charbroiled steak sandwich and loved it. The crab dip is one of the best I’ve ever had. The apple pie was awesome, definitely recommend. The gingerbread cake was just okay. I think it depends on your taste. My sister loved it, I didn’t. It tasted like chocolate instead of like gingerbread spice. Hope this helps. And check out the gift shop. A little pricey for souvenirs, but cute items.

The food was excellent my husband got the French onion soup he said it was good. It does have chunks of beef in it so not like your typical broth soup. I got the crab cake and the soup of the day chicken vegetable. My soup was amazing full of veggies and great flavor. The crab cake had very little filler and was a decent size. We got seated in the basement what a cool experience very different than the upstairs. I highly recommend this place

The scenery is very unique and interesting but seating is incredibly cramped. Service leaves a lot to be desired and the food is fair at best. Could very easily get a much much better meal at other local restaurants for the same or lower price as what is charged here. Multiple meals had here and a majority of them have been bland, primarily tasteless and not cooked properly-mainly overdone/dry. Food options are very very limited so if you have any dietary restrictions, this is definitely not the place for you.

We ate at the Dining Room and loved it! What a great place with a ton of character! The food was excellent and the service was excellent. Two of us had the Hunters Chicken which was very good! One had the pork tenderloin and she loved it. One had the crab cake and said it was one of the best she’s ever had. Overall, highly recommended for an interesting place to eat and really good food. Note that some tables are up stairs and may be difficult for those with mobility issues.

We were a party of 4, and had about a 10 minute wait for seating. The service was good but slower than other comparable places. The Kings onion style soup and steak were delicious. I was not a super fan of the rolls as they were not crispy enough. The price point was not bad and all seemed reasonably priced. We would go back again but not sure when we would be back into the Gettysburg area.

Great atmosphere, best cheeseburger I've ever had in my life. Kind staff, some lack of menu knowledge but still very professional and helpful. Amazing and fun experience. Delicious kings onion soup and burger.

We had a late dinner in the tavern and it was very good. It was a bit loud with all the tables being occupied but it was fine with us. For drinks I had a Philadelphia fish house punch and my fiancee had the rum belly. Both drinks were delicious, but like the menu says, the rum belly IS strong! We both had the baked kings onion soup as well. I ordered the half rack of ribs and he had the strip streak. Both came with great salads, fresh bread and potatoes. Fantastic food in a great environment. Our dinner and drinks totaled $96 but it was very well worth it!
