I loved the Black Bear Resort and owners: Linda and her husband Travis. Great place to stop if thru hiking, section hiking, day hiking, trout fishing in the stream next to the resort, or any other relaxing thing you want to do. I used it as a base to safely park my car while I section hiked the Appalachian Trail. They have a long shuttle distance north and south of the resort. They have hiker resupply items, laundry, separate his and her bathrooms and showers. Great prices for bunk house and cabins. I stayed at the cabin by the stream and slept well in a comfortable bed. I will not forget their kindness. Great people and great service. One of my favorite hostels on the AT. Veteran and female owned! Highly recommended resort. Thank you Linda and Travis!

Great place to visit! The owner was very kind and accommodating. Extremely reasonable prices. Came with my Dad for the Bristol NASCAR race & would recommend for anyone willing to commute ~35 minutes to the track.

My family and I had an amazing experience here. The staff was so inviting and friendly. The campground itself was surrounded by a beautiful creek and gorgeous trees. It was also very close to multiple hiking spots. The owners put a lot of love and passion into their spectacular resort.

Absolutely amazing spot. My buddies and I were doing a week long section hike and stopped in to grab some snacks and do a small resupply. Everyone there was extremely nice even offeringto shuttle us back to the trail head, and they had a room for hikers with a place to cook food, make coffee and relax on a couch. Definitely the best hostel/hiker friendly resort I have seen on the trail. 10/10 would recommend

Friend and I stopped for a night off the trail last week and it was everything we could want. Linda was a fantastic host. It is obvious the love and pride her and the family/team take in serving hikers. Cabin was comfortable. Shower great. General store complete. Bear Den perfect for preparing and eating our frozen pizza! Good luck with all your plans for the future of BBR! Will return!!

Excellent hub for a trip to the Great Outdoors, convenient to Watauga Lake, Appalachian Trail and Cherokee Forest. SUPER CLEAN and SECURE for the solo woman traveler, owners are FIRST CLASS, knowledgeable to the area, with shuttles to the trailheads. 10/10 experienced, I will absolutely be returning!

Had a great time!!! Came as a stranger left as family. Creek side cabin was beautiful, cozy, and very spacious. The views and quite were exactly what I needed to relax. The owners are very helpful and friendly. Great spot to spend a few days and hike the AT, or just to get away from the hustle and bustle. I will definitely be back! Thanks Black Bear Crew!!

I loved the Black Bear Resort, and Linda and her husband. It was a stop of mine when thru hiking the Appalachian Trail. The place is so beautiful, atmosphere relaxing, and they make you feel like you are at home. I had an injury pop up and stayed there about a week. I will never forget their kindness. Great people! Rockn' Robyn class of 2022

Found this place fairly last minute and we are so glad we did. What a great little campsite, owners are the best. And right by Laurel Falls. Worth the 10 minute drive up the windy road! Note that there is no cell signal but there is wifi by the lodge.

It’s a very friendly environment clean and well maintained the owners, Linda and her husband are very good hostess, the bathrooms and showers are very clean there was a bon-fire at night where everyone gather together, We all had a lot of fun a lot of good stories on the very safe environment. We will be back and we highly recommended if you’re looking for a good safe, fun time just come and stay, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain their rating is five star but if I could go higher I’ll give a 10⭐️, I definitely will like I said is awesome & clean and Linda is the best hostess I’ve ever had to deal with, thank you so much we love you ✌️peace

I slack packed here down the AT. This place is absolutely wonderful. The cabins are clean and comfortable, and they go above and beyond with service. I would not hesitate to recommend this place or stay there again
