Me and my family did the dinner ride and we had such a fun and relaxing time! The service was pretty good and the food tasted amazing and was full of flavor!! We got to see great autumn views of the mountains, lake, countryside, and some homes too. We had lots of fun talking, eating the delish food, and being able to open the windows to feel the fall air on such a chill ride through the countryside. The conductor even chatted with us and we learned a lot about the train. We also had the sweetest server although they were very stretched out because of a busy night. However, this did not take away from the experience too much as we still got hot food and they catered to all our needs. The train ride itself was very smooth and a good pace! We had such a nice time and would definitely go back!

We book a dinner trip for 4, celebrating my daughter and son inlaws anniversary and my husband's birthday. Service was wonderful staff so nice and attentive. Food was amazing very fresh and great choices. We ordered a cheese tray, very nice choice of local cheese. Loved the whole experience would definitely do it again with out of state visitors. Only one thing dinner should be served with bread.

We made the best of the dinner "scenic" train ride but it was a bit disappointing. Not much scenery, areas where they slowed downed the vegetation was overgrown. Wait staff was great and very friendly.

We took the experience of the train dinning ride on fall to enjoy the view of the yellowish-orange foliage and the trip was a pleasant one, the crew was very courteous, the trip is about 3 hours length the round trip, the dinner was delicious however the size of the plate was a bit small, try the local beer from the train if you are a beer lover, you can enjoy a lake view before you start your ride and after the ride you still can hang out in downtown street, parking is available, we found about that in Sunday was free, not sure is every Sunday is the same, price is reasonable, experience is good!

The train ride was so picturesque as we rode through the country side. Beautiful area! The staff was very polite and attentive as they served us our dinner which was very good and a beautiful presentation of plating. It was lacking some bread or rolls with the meal. The only other thing I wish they had was some interaction with the passengers as we rode the tour. Thanks to Green Mountain Railroad for mostly a good evening.

On the positive side, the food was decent, staff very courteous, and the general experience was very unique. I knew the experience would be odd at best when the live musician opened his first set with "Stairway to Heaven". Sigh. Ordered the romance package, which was supposed to come with champagne and strawberries with flutes to take home, and roses at the table. Presentation was nice, but had to ask for the strawberries. Perhaps they were supposed to be served with dessert, but then why serve the champagne when we were seated? The strawberries were good, but sloppy and clearly tempered and dipped by an amateur. Of greatest confusion and concern, the website clearly states the gratuity is covered in the price of the tickets, but the receipt for the bar tab stated (circled in bright colored ink pen) that no gratuity had been paid to the servers. Servers confirmed the "gratuity" paid with the tickets did not go to the servers, but did not know who it went to. Our train left late for no reason, despite the website clearly stating to arrive early because trains always leave on time, so in addition to being overly early, we boarded and sat at the station for a full hour and turned around 2 stations before the Middlebury Station. For that kind of experience, I use Delta Airlines. Lesson: don't get on the train hungry. When we did return to the station, I requested clean flutes, and was told I had to take my dirty ones, but was not given a bag or container to put them in or offered cleaning. The server actually snapped at me, telling me it was my fault they were dirty, because we drank out of them...not sure how that was even relevant. I asked the bar tender on our way out to rinse them, and he kindly did, but I still had no other place to put them except the bottom of my purse. Thankfully, they were super cheap, thick glass, so they did not break. Certainly not worth the upgrade. The route was pretty for the first 30 min, but after that, most of the view was obscured by vegetation. Overall experience was unfortunately "meh" and probably would not ride again except for private parties.

The Service on-board was friendly & great! The clientele is elderly overall. The views and food were sub-par. We understand seasons change and we may not have hit the peak time, but views were very underwhelming, including the backside of businesses and homes, etc. and not the beauty of nature expected. Would definitely recommend a drive and nice restaurant on your own for less money.

My company decided to have an anniversary party on the dinner train. I must say I was very much impressed with both the atmosphere and the quality of the food. As one might imagine, the options are limited, but not lacking in diversity. Highly recommend this place.

My wife and I bought tickets for the lounge 99 bar car. It was a great experience! An hour and a half to middlebury and an hour and a half back. Live music [by sammy blannchet for that particular weekend, he was awesome!] great drinks, and great, friendly service. Many different experience options [which vary in price], we will absolutely be back for another ride!

All aboard! The orchestration of the dinner train from start to finish last night was seamless. I would highly recommend this experience to Vermonters and visitors to our state. We were greeted warmly upon boarding and treated kindly by every smiling staff member. The waitstaff, bar and kitchen staff pull off a small miracle every night and they do it with grace and smiles. The scenery offered by this adventure alone was worth it and the food was some of the best I've had in BTV. The presentation of the food is just one example of the attention to detail experienced during this adventure. As a vegan foodie I found the courses were not only delicious - they were clever and beautifully plated, offering a delightful experience for the palate and the soul. My fellow travel mates equally enjoyed their food from first bite to the last. I strongly recommend this train ride to add to your next adventure as a Vermonter or a visitor!

Reasons to go on this delight of an experience: 1) very cool way to see a stretch of VT 2) weather is not a factor…rain or shine it’ll be a cool experience 3) Food was amazing. Beer options solid. (Mixed drinks fell a bit short. I ordered an Aperol spritz and it was cloudy…sent it back and was told “that’s an Aperol spritz!”. No Sir it is not. The margarita was weak too…recommend stick with beer or wine if you want alcohol) Considerations: 1) you need to be able to walk up into train and down out of train. They have staff right there to assist which I appreciated! The bathrooms also..doors are heavy so if traveling with someone who may need help with heavy doors, just beware! 2) parking is extra. $20 to park right near train. Well worth it and will definitely go again!

They make you feel special. Train Rollng in in blond hair guy with a little train cap smilies and waves then they pull out the little booth for you to board. You get on the trai. And walk back to your seat. Served a drink. Then wait an hour served another drink. The train starts down the rails. Yay. Served another drink. Sald comes and some apps. Then Served another drink. We are at 3 now. 1 for the wait 1 for the go and 1 for the app. Then we asked for the 4th. And we got trouble. We where cut off. Not because of being rude. They where. Not for being loud. Nope we are told 4 drink max. They pre plane there bills. You can't have too many on this train. You can't have enough either. So we where left drink less for dinner. And rude to my wife. The night caused a fight between my wife and myself. I was angry at how the bar tender and waitress treated her. I let the head waitress know with stern words no cursing. I explained how disappointed I was and how rude they where. She told me I embarrassed her. Now I am double mad at them. Never ever again.

Took the "Cocktails on the Rails", this time, my son and his girlfriend did the dinner train last fall, and it was fantastic. 18 barrel leather chairs, fantastic finger foods and reasonable priced drinks❤️ Oh, I forgot the live music, Thank you Kim Wilcox.
