Beautiful lake within Acadia. There is a very good trail around the lake which is perfect for biking. Natural forest, feeder creeks and boulders create a perfect atmosphere for walkers, photographers and outdoor enthusiasts. If you are in Bar Harbor you should not miss a visit to this lake.

Amazing cycling paths around the lake

We biked the carriage road around the lake. There were decent hills all around the lake and it was quite the workout. We did this and then the Ocean Path and my legs were sore the next day. Lots of nice views of the lake and forest and the carriage roads are very well maintained. Packed gravel path that was doable with my road bike, but definitely better suited for a gravel bike or mountain bike.

No matter what time of year, it's always beautiful here. During the winter months, you can walk with cleats+, cross-country ski, etc., on the carriage roads, as well as skate and ice fish, and you may see deer prancing by while on the carriage road. During the spring, when flowers start to bloom on certain portions of the trail, the smell is overwhelming. During the summer, if you're not a sunbathing person, walking under the trees on the paths might be your thing. Then of course autumn, when the trees turn to vibrant fall colors, you will not notice how far you have walked, because the view all along the way is so spectacular. Then of course the sunsets at various viewing points are grand. I am sure the sunrises are also beautiful, but some people are not morning people.

A great location for an autumn hike! Level ground, water, and beautiful trees. Not many people the second week in October. Some bicyclists and runners. Nature at its best!

Nice lake and views and hiking trails where you can walk on carriage road

Calm lake in Acadia national park. You can try biking on the carriage paths around this lake. It is a nice experience.

A wonderful easy walk.

Great place for a beautiful walk! Decent parking and several options for paths from narrow woods to wide groomed carriage paths. Gorgeous views all around and a great loop for running.
