I have taken my family to stay here two years in a row and I cannot say enough wonderful things about it! First off is the incredible location! This doesn't just mean its close proximity to some of the best locales Northern Michigan has to offer but the Landscape itself! Situated between two orchards on beautiful rolling hills the property comes with many sights to take in. The property is inhabited by two newly acquired horses, a chicken coop, large garden area, benches/chairs and a nice walking path that allows for a nice and scenic/peaceful short hike around the property! My kids adored seeing the animals and interacting with the family while we were there (more on them in a minute!) The rooms they rent are built into a very nicely maintained and clean Barn on the property with two levels. My family stayed in the lower level (the Bird's Nest) which was perfect for our family of 4. It's not overly luxurious but the focus was clearly on comfort, cleanliness, and necessities. Well built and pleasant to the senses (that fresh smell of cedar!) it comes with a comfortable bedding, air conditioning, a mini fridge and charming wooden bunk bed for the kiddos! This focus on simplicity means that the things they do provide are of the highest quality which carries over to all the other amenities. The Garage of the barn is made up into a wonderful common space filled with a fantastic home made light breakfast all made fresh each day. From fresh hard boiled eggs, to muffins, to farm fresh fruit paired with delicious tea and coffee we started every day the right way! This space also has plenty of comfortable seating, a small library of books, various board and yard games and more should you decide to just hang around a bit longer before you take off to do the million of fun things to do nearby! I cannot thank the Wilson family enough for their kind hospitality and warm welcome. They were always kind and respectful hosts and a lot of fun to talk to, knowledgable of the area, and are raising some of the most polite and responsible children I have ever met. They really do all the right things with these rentals at very reasonable prices for both the area and the time frames I have booked them for. So good to the point that I was almost hesitant to write this review so I could keep this place more of a secret! I can't in good conscience do that! This family deserves every fine guest they can attract and I can whole heartedly recommend this to any vacationing family or couple that is looking to get up north and actually take in the beauty in peace and comfort!

My friends and I had an amazing girls weekend at the Roming Roost. I can’t say enough about this gem of a place! Perfect location, quiet, clean, beautifully decorated and large open space in the Roost was perfect for us. The setting is so unique, we enjoyed the hiking loop, views of the orchards and being surrounded by animals including chickens, horses, and their beautiful Aussie-doodles. The Wilson family was incredibly welcoming and friendly. Their children are so sweet and passionate about life on the farm. The simple fresh food and coffee offering each morning was appreciated and the complimentary yoga in the pasture was incredible. This was a very relaxing, and healing experience for me, and I know I will be back! Kristen, thank you for all that you do. ❤️

We recently stayed at the Roost for five days with our three teens. This lovely, unique B&B provided a wonderful atmosphere for relaxing and fun family time. The Wilsons were wonderful hosts, always making us feel at home, providing great advice about restaurants and local things to do, as well as meeting practical needs like fresh towels, etc. The location is perfect and our room was clean and comfortable - staying in one room as a family of five really helped us bond! We highly recommend the Roming Roost.

Our family of four had the best time at Roming Roost. It was a perfect blend of farm magic and proximity to Michigan beaches. The Wilson’s offer lovely hospitality, morning morsels and amenities that make the Roming Roost a warm and welcoming launching and landing pad - just a blissful backdrop for long, full days of so many rich up-north memories. If you get a chance to go - go!

My sister and I recently brought our 75 year old Mother up north for a getaway. Our visit at the Roomin Roost was fabulous! The Bird’s Nest accommodations were spotlessly clean and extremely comfortable. We loved the farm setting and the beautiful sunsets. Kristin and her family were excellent hosts. Kristin also offered a firepit one evening, and we enjoyed hours outside under the stars by the fire. I hope to get back soon!

Our stay at Roming Roost was perfect. We loved the property, animals, hosts etc. the rooms were very comfortable and beautifully decorated. Loved being able to have a family yoga session. Morning breakfast was a treat. Loved the simplicity and uniqueness of the property/accommodations.

My husband and I and our 3 kids (ages 9, 8 and 5) recently had the pleasure of staying at Rōming Roost and I must say, the entire experience was exactly what our family needed! From the moment we arrived at the quaint, hybrid B&B until the moment we said goodbye, we were blown away by the relaxing and picturesque farm and nature setting, the attention to detail to provide comfort to our stay and the top notch service from Kristen and Shaun and their children! This was truly a trip to remember! First and foremost, the Wilson family were phenomenal hosts! They greeted us warmly upon arrival and our children immediately began to explore the grounds, chickens and horses with the Wilson kids. Their friendly and attentive nature truly set the tone for our stay. They were always available to answer any questions, offer local recommendations, and help us with our needs with a genuine smile. Our happiness and comfort was their priority! The accommodations themselves were comfortable, spacious, and clean. The room exuded an inviting, cozy and relaxing ambiance and was truly the perfect size for our family of 5. The kids loved the trundle beds! The attention to detail and thought in creating a peaceful setting so guests could thoroughly “unwind” from the real world was evident in every aspect. My husband and I appreciated that there was no television in the unit and the kids were so busy playing outside that they didn’t notice! The beds were comfortable, the shower was clean, and the linens were plush. The unit also had a mini refrigerator, a sound machine and a cute map of the grounds to explore. Hot coffee and tea, fresh fruit, farm fresh hard boiled eggs and homemade breakfast pastries were served every morning in the Gathering Space at Rōming Roost which was an absolute delight. Here, we could mingle with other guests who were staying in “the Nest,” or opt to take our coffee outside while exploring the nature walk. One of the highlights of our stay was the picturesque surroundings. Nestled in a tranquil setting, Rōming Roost offers breathtaking views of Michigans beauty and sounds of nature. It was calming, relaxing and peaceful to just walk the property and take it all in. As mentioned, the kids explored the hobby farm and 15 acres with the Wilson kids and learned so much about gardening and raising chickens and horses. We enjoyed sitting around the bonfire one evening and making S’mores. To top things off, on the last morning, my girls and I were able to take a yoga class instructed by Kristen. What a treat! It was everything I didn’t realize my body and mind needed! Truly the icing on the cake of relaxing and renewing! In conclusion, our experience at Rōming Roost was nothing short of exceptional. From the warmth and friendliness of the Wilson family, serving up heaps of love to the relaxing accommodations, simplistic breakfast, and peaceful ambiance, every aspect of our stay was simply perfect. If you're seeking a memorable getaway to rest, rōm or renew, Rōming Roost provides the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. I wholeheartedly recommend Rōming Roost. It's a true Northern Michigan gem curated with lots of love. We will be back for our next Northern Michigan vacation!

Our church held its annual leadership team retreat at Rōming Roost, and it was a meaningful day together of planning in a warm and welcoming environment. Upon arrival, we found smiling faces, warm and cold breakfast treats, and a full complement of hot and cold drinks. We had a session of meditative stretching that helped prepare our hearts and minds for our planning. When we stopped for lunch, our food was ready for devouring. Kristen led us on a meditative hike to reflect on our planning during the afternoon. At the close of the day, we said our goodbyes with smiles and hugs. I would describe my experience of Rōming Roost as "intentional hospitality." A lot of time and energy has gone into creating a beautiful space that feels like home and is - at the same time - an enchanting escape from home. The "cherry on the top" is how well the owners treat each person with kindness, respect, and care.
