There is a good reason why this Ethiopian place has high ratings, awesome Ethiopian injera and other dishes. I didn't try the coffee or tea, but I will try them next time. In other words, I will be back for more.

AmaaaaZing!!!!! The flavors and portions were on point! Customer service was great! The wrong plate was brought to us (accidents happen) they quickly fixed it without blinking an eye. The owner came around and chatted with us.the waitress was able answer our questions and suggest very good options for us. It was really nice. They made us feel like we were guest in their home. DEF coming back. Thank you Lalibela restaurant!

After A day of trying New Haven pizza, I needed some vegetables. Lalibela supplied them and supplied them well. I got the vegetarian combo and it was great. Get the Ethiopian hummus; it’s slightly spicy and creamy. Extraordinarily nice people run this place, so it’s great all the way around.

It was our first time trying Ethiopian food. Very delicious, the dishes come with either their tradition bread or rice. They also offer different levels of spicy. The service was good, clear menu with details of ingredients and clean environment.

First Ethiopian experience was a plus! We did the vegetarian entree sampler for 3. Was nice to try 8/9 vegetarian entree options they had! From what I could tell, the injera was super fresh and good bread/utensil! Flavors were very diverse! Fresh veggies and they were all pretty “al dente”. Love that they were firm and not overly soggy like a lot of veggies in stews like that can be. Service was slightly slow but completely acceptable and worth it! Just plan to spend some time here.

It's a very nice place. It's a little short-staffed, but a good eatery nonetheless. I'd recommend it, although I will caution that there is no silverware, which may need a bit of getting used to for those who are unfamiliar with the concept.

I've been recommended to try the vegan sample platter by so many of my friends, and it didn't disappoint! It was satiating, nutritious, and offered so many diverse flavors. The owner and server were extremely hospitable and kind, and I found the restaurant to be an intimate and cozy setting :)

There was a ROCK in my food. I almost broke my tooth biting down on my food. Thinking it might have been an uncooked lentil.. no, a ROCK. When I called the restaurant to let them know, “Hello, may I speak to the owner / manager pls?” .. they hung up in my face. Will never get a dime from me again.

This was our first time trying Ethiopian cousine and we absolutely loved it. Granted, we have nothing to compare it to and I personally can't comment on authenticity. However the overall quality of food, the spices, the freshness and the flavors were amazing.

From its food to its ambiance, Lalibela is a must-visit restaurant for anyone in New Haven. The food was authentic Ethiopian and oh so filling. I was impressed by the generous portion sizes, too. And the appetizers and desserts were just as good as the entree. The ambiance in the restaurant was warm and inviting, and the decor and art added a unique touch. Great for events and one-on-one dinners, casual or formal. Highly recommended for anyone seeking authentic Ethiopian cuisine.

Amazing variety of flavors and fun finger food with soft bread like nothing else. Dining here might not be for a first date, as eating with hands here is the norm; but, the adventure is worth it. When we were there we had a live pianist performing instrumental covers of show tunes and old standards - delightful. Go for the food and have fun with it all.

Lots of vegetarian options to select from and decent prices. Had a tomato based appetizer that was yummy and there was lots of sponge bread provided. Not busy during weekday at dinner time

You don't see Ethiopian food very often and Lalibela makes me wonder why, because it's fantastic. It's worth noting that the way the food is presented is a little unusual in that you don't use utensils for the main dishes—though they're certainly available, if you really want them—Instead, you tear off pieces of a very thin bread and use them to scoop up some of the food. I'm not doing a great job of describing it, but the whole process is fun and the bread helps add a bit more body to the dish, compared to similar dishes from other cultures. The wait staff is also friendly and knowledgeable. Overall, I'd highly recommend Lalibela.

We went there for dinner on two days within the same weekend. The place is amazing, food is really tasty. Very authentic (decor and food). We had the vegetarian combo. The people were very kind and nice. We live about 2 hours away but will definitely go back as soon as we can. 5 stars all the way!!!
