Beautiful hiking location. The hike isn’t that challenging about 5-6 out of 10 that too only because of the steps. You can make it to the top of the overlook by 40 mins max going at an avg pace give or take 5 mins. The view is definitely worth it even tho we were there on a foggier day it was still stunning! Highly recommend this hike!

Awesome hike. Wear sneakers or hiking boots. Be in decent physical shape. Steep hike! Bring water. No bathrooms at Trailhead. Parking is right on the side of the highway, use caution. Cars along 9D were all summonsed today as I passed by 7/22/23.

short and steep hike up to the nose, but after that, plenty of flat trails, including the Appalachian trail, if you want to keep going. well marked and heavily trafficked. parking is difficult along the side of 9D, so best to start early.

My friends and I hiked the 9D trail, which is what this review will be based on. For those who cannot or do not want to drive, you can get here via Metro-North Railroad. However, the direct line to Manitou station is only accessible on weekends. It is an easy walk to the trailhead, which takes roughly 30 minutes. Of course, you can park alongside the trailhead, but it is a first-come-first-serve basis. This trail is moderate and is neither long, nor short. The trailhead begins with a steep, rock climb. You do not need hiking experience to make it through. I HIGHLY recommend not going after it rains since the rocks will be muddy and slippery. After the rock stairs, it is an easy walk straight to the overlook point. From the trailhead to the overlook point, it should take roughly 1.5 hours.

It is very close to Bear mountain. A short but fun hiking spot. It has amazing views of the bear mountain bridge on one side and the Hudson river on the other!

Quick 2.6 mile round trip hike to the top and back. First 0.6 miles is uphill and the rest is easy. Great look out at the top of bear mountain

Beautiful trail. First portion of hike is steep and coming back down is even worse. I wasn’t aware of how steep it would be so went the day after it rained which was not a good idea…But nonetheless I had great time and def worth it. Awesome workout. Beautiful views as well.
