Update: I have more recommendations: Wasabi Lemon, TNT, Green Scallop!! The best sushi in the area! The servers are friendly and the food never disappoints. I especially love the specialty rolls ( Fire Kamikaze, Hell Roll, and the Volcano) I highly recommend the Minami Crab Rangoon and the ramen. I've taken many friends here and they all became regulars!

This establishment does not disappoint. Be sure to ask for fresh wasabi - completely different then what you’re normally served and worth the up-charge. Check them out. Thank you!

Second photo - what Godzilla roll looks like according to the recipe. First photo - Godzilla roll from Minami. Just look at this crаp. How can you guys get away with this?? The thing is that you used to make it like in the first photo, but now you do this parody. It falls apart, sloppy with the sauce all over it, and looks like crаp. And it's not only the Godzilla roll, I tried many others, because I'm a regular customer, but the overall quality went out of the window Especially with the sloppiness , and bad ingredients. Lastly, I always ask for two sets of chopsticks, and you always put just one. Always. I'm done with you. I have been a regular for years ,but in the last half a year everything just completely fell apart. This is really sad.

Minami Sushi is at the top of the list if you want supreme quality authentic sushi and Japanese cuisine at a price that won’t break your wallet! Lunch or dinner, they offer tempura, Teriyaki, Katsu, Udon, ramen and much more! I can see why this place is rated one of the very best in the area! It’s looks small and unsuspecting from the outside but the place has a very clean cool interior, simply decorated with a good vibe. I was seated right away at a comfortable table although they do have a traditional sushi bar if you like that. Maddi my server was very friendly and so helpful with ordering. They have sushi but also have more bento box options than anywhere else! They have very reasonably priced lunches! The miso soup came to the table hot; subtle smooth flavor with soft tofu pieces. I ordered the salmon teriyaki bento and they allowed me substitutions in place of the pork gyoza and the pork fried rice. They replaced it with veggie gyoza’s, a crispy delicious potato croquette and veggie fried rice which I very much appreciated. The chilled salad with the ginger dressing was very good. The California roll was made perfectly; not too much rice, rolled evenly and it didn’t fall apart! The miso paste was of very good quality as was the ginger. The salmon teriyaki in the bento box was served hot and had a light teriyaki sauce that complimented the fish but didn’t over power or mask the flavor of the fish itself. The salmon skin was perfectly crispy even though it was in the teriyaki sauce. How did they do that?? They have a full bar to order cocktails and drinks. I was so impressed to see that they have a full display of several professional sushi knives to cut the seafood perfectly as they do in Japan. They had a lot of people coming in to pickup carry outs too.

Literally the best, most amazing sushi place you’ll find in Illinois, especially for the price. All of the ingredients, and of course the fish, is so high quality and you can tell they care so much about putting out their best quality of food. And not only do they put forth their best effort for dine-in customers, but also for take-out. You can tell they take great care, effort, and pride in their food. The interior of the restaurant is also very beautiful and well cared for. The service is always so great. Everyone is extremely kind and friendly. I recently moved to California but after I found this place, this was the only place I would go to for my sushi and I’m missing it 💔 I can’t recommend this place enough - it deserves more recognition!

Great experience for our first time trying out Minami Sushi. Ali was our waitress, she greeted us kindly at the front door and service was great. She was very informative, nice, and overall energetic! Lunch special is a great bang for your buck! My favorite part was, of course, the sushi, but the salad dressing is tasty! I highly recommend coming here. Very clean inside and prompt service

Hands down one of the best local chic sushi places in the northwest suburbs of Illinois. Great ambience and very friendly staff. This place is a gem if you are a vegetarian as their veggie sushi roll collection is like no other. They don’t make the usual plain cucumber rolls & avocado rolls for vegetarians but their version of those rolls combined garnished with sweet and hot mayo and/or cream cheese makes their sushis very filling, tasty and unique.

This place is perfection! Everything from the pleasant staff to the delicious sushi and entrees! Went here on a whim but hope to become a regular! Makes me wish I lived closer!

Minami Sushi nailed it with their recent renovation! The vibe inside is contemporary, cozy, and fun with ample seating spaces that don't make you feel like you're on top of your neighbor. Our appetizers and sushi rolls came out fast and were a feast for the eyes as well as our stomachs! Definitely recommend their classic rolls and several of their house specialities! Enjoy!

First time going here, we got there close to the time they close and they still let us get a table and did not act rude or upset. Our food came out super fast and everything was delicious. We got the lettuce wraps as our appetizer and this chicken that was kinda like chicken strips/nuggets but so crispy and yummy! Then we got a salad and the dressing was different but good, kinda tangy and orange looking. The sushi was yummy, fresh tasting and just very good. Highly recommend 10 out of 10

Overall it was a great experience the food is great the service is also good. We came in at a very busy time so we had to wait about 10 to 15 minutes for a table,but if you come at a time that is not so busy they usually take care of you right away. the food is very good the sake that they have is fairly priced and they have a Wide variety, however the dessert menu is very short but still it’s a great place to stop by and have a bite of sushi

We enjoyed the visit to Minami sushi Came here for a birthday celebration!  Heard great thing about it…didn’t disappoint! The place is nice and its probably one of the better sushi place in the area.  Love the atmosphere! The ingredients are great, the fish are in high quality and based on the looks you can tell the way how they prepared was their best quality Services was great

I have not been here in SO LONG! What a change. It used to be quaint and cute, but it’s been remodeled to modern and cool. The food was very appealing to the eye. Everything came out pretty quickly and was very fresh. There is nothing more I love than the buttery bite of fresh fish. Yummy fish and I liked the rice texture and flavor immensely. We sat for quite a while, but we were checked on frequently for water and to see if we needed anything else! Great service from the whole team. It was great! It was a friends suggestion we go, as she moved into the area. It will for sure be a more frequent meet-up!

I came here for the first time today because it was an hour from my house. The service and the main flounder sashimi were both very good, so I enjoyed it. The food and atmosphere are good. Everything was good. When eating Korean sashimi, a separate seat is provided, so it's great because you can eat quietly. Everything was delicious and good. Thank you. I had a good time.

Food and service were amazing! We got the spicy teriyaki chicken dinner as well as the New York, the mountain, and the James bond rolls. Everything was so tasty, big portions, and fast service. What else can you ask for?

My girlfriend and I were looking for a new date night sushi spot and had heard some good things about Minami! We drove about 30 minutes and when we got there Saturday night they were able to seat us right away! The service was lovely and the atmosphere was perfect for a cozy date night! The quality of the food was incredible and raised the bar for what a sushi dinner should taste like! The rice was dense and full of flavor and the quality of the fish blew us away!! The sweet egg nigiri was absolutely wild and the sweet potato roll and spicy tuna were perfection! Each bite was well balanced and you could tell the kitchen has a passion for quality and uses fresh ingredients ! I would happily make the hour round trip drive for the food and we cannot wait to go back! 10/10 experience

Minami is yummy, fresh, high quality goodness. Zero complaints. Appropriately priced items. So glad to have finally tried it out after driving past for years. If you like sushi or just Japanese food, this is a GREAT SPOT

Such a variety to choose from! Complimentary miso soup to start👍🏼 We ordered the edamame, veggie gyoza (steamed), and sushi, of course (Laura Bobby, Veggie King Kong, Veggie Caterpillar, Veggie Jalapeño Popper). Everything was tasty and the service was attentive & prompt. Will eat here again and try new things.

Visited two times recently. I went in in the sushi area once and Korean raw fish section in the back once. Their sushi and sashimi is okay, although not the best. FYi, their sushi does not come with wasabi so you have to add them to your taste. Korean raw fish platter sections are very diverse and price is very good if you go with a group. Staff is friendly, although busy a lot of the times. I would definitely recommend korean sushi if you love fresh raw fish, but just like japanese sashimi and sushi, not the best place to go.

The sushi was high quality and there was an amazing variety of sushi to choose from! The atmosphere is very calm. Me and my friend love it here!

This probably was the best meal I've ever had in my 30 some years of existence. I highly suggest you get the ramen, pork or steak - astronomical! Very nice place, good people, I will come back often. The next time someone says they know a good japanese restaurant, don't listen to them, cause Minami is unbeatable.
