The Barrett Art Center is a wonderful arts organization. Their shows always surprise me with the high level of quality curators and exhibiting artists they put together. It’s a gem in the Hudson Valley arts landscape.

You can't beat art in a historic house which adjoins a National Historic District. The gallery is a local and visitor-friendly place to engage with art lovers. During shows, one can speak to and learn techniques of some of the artists. Classes are available. Thomas Barrett's art, the family archives, and the Dutchess County Art Association 's archives are a small museum, in and of themselves.

Visit the Barrett Art Center if you’d like to view first-rate contemporary artwork in a stunning 19th-century historic property in the heart of Poughkeepsie. Additionally, the Barrett holds a remarkable archival collection of letters and photographs of the Barrett Family and Thomas Weeks Barrett, Jr. (1902-1947) in particular. TWB, Jr. was a gifted painter and illustrator born and raised right there at 55 Noxon Street. The Barrett Art Center does a remarkable job at preserving his work and his legacy. Today his light-filled studios are utilized by visual artists through the Barrett’s artist-in-residence program. Well worth a visit … make that: many!

The Barrett Art Center is a standout gem in the City of Poughkeepsie in New York State. They hold regular national juried exhibitions, boasting top talent from around the U.S. They are also immersed in the local community, hosting after-school programs for children, providing educational experiences for students in kindergarten through college, and collaborating with local nonprofits and businesses to improve culture and to spread a love of the arts. Housed in a historic building with a story of its own, the Barrett Art Center is a must-see for those traveling around or through the City of Poughkeepsie.

Barrett Art Center, established many years ago as the home of the Dutchess County Art Association. Barrett is a dynamic organization offering artists and art lovers camaraderie, opportunities for exhibitions, and lasting friendships. I taught there for about 7 years. Barrett offers the community high caliber national juried exhibitions, artist talks & demonstrations, opportunities for social intercourse and so much more.

The Barrett Art Center opened the doors to the local art community for me and has been a major factor in my progress as an artist. The ongoing series of national shows has been increasing in excellence, and several of the recent ones have been jaw droppingly wonderful.

A wonderful place to see contemporary art in a year round calendar of national, regional, and membership shows. The shows are consistently fresh and unexpected and display a wide range of exhibiting artists. The galleries in BAC's landmark home are a gracious setting for the art and a warm, inviting environment for artists, art lovers, and community members to meet.

I just recently made an appointment in the Thomas Barrett archives to research the little known early 20th century art colony, Elverhoj, in Milton-on-Hudson. Thomas Barrett exhibited his work in their Poughkeepsie gallery while still a very young artist. The staff of the Barrett Art Center, including their archivist could not have been more helpful and I plan to return there to do more research. This archives is an extremely important resource for the arts community and in particular for understanding the career of Thomas Barrett - he kept everything!

Barrett Art Center is located in a charming 1840's town house in Poughkeepsie NY. Inside you will find high quality art from across the USA along with helpful staff to show you around. I go to all of their exhibitions.

BAC is a great place for seeing a wide range of wonderful art from local and national artists through the several exhibitions that they hold each year. I've been fortunate to have several of my photographs exhibited in both BAC national exhibitions and member exhibitions. It is also a great place to take a variety of art based classes and seminars. I've benefited by getting feedback on my photo work by participating in several photo seminars with other photographers during the last couple of years.

😐 I love this park been running in this park with friends regularly for over 10 years but lately the past 3 years has been changing. More people with dogs are coming in and not really picking up after their dogs and letting their dogs run unleashed all over the park. This is not a dog park (try Beacon...

👍👍 Actually quite peaceful. I was there between 920am to 1015am. Some singles, couples, 2 sanitation members and children playing. All very friendly. Enjoyed the Hudson River , that the Governor is going to ruin the River by putting a electrical cable from Canada to NYC TO SUPPLY POWER TO THE CITY...
