An NYU mom from western NY with a senior graduating mid year, we needed an apartment when the dorms were not guaranteed. I actually found out about Insurent from my broker and while I most likely would have been able to secure an apartment without one, this was a nice backup and selling point to secure an apartment during the very busy and competitive summer season as students are planning to return to campus. Insurent was much more professional and accessible than the guarantor company The Gxxxxx (very impersonal when I called for information) and Rxxxxx (website was a bit too modern for this GenX-er to navigate). My rep even worked until nearly 10pm on a Friday to make sure my paperwork was set for my building and we could move forward. The need for an institutional guarantor is very relevant, especially for those who have made a transition to self-employment (and have the liquidity/assets for a desired apartment but no immediate income to demonstrate).
