My family’s first time visiting the MAPS Museum and we were blown away. Our tour guide, Reed, was informative and passionate about the mission of this museum. We will definitely come back when it’s a little warmer so we can see the planes outside. Highly recommend for families who want to learn more about not only Americas history but other countries as well.

Very unique museum. One of a kind Goodyear plane. So much memorabilia and displayed so nicely. We will go back when we can walk outside. It was freezing today.

A great history lesson! Volunteer’s really make the museum a living experience. You can actually climb in a lot of the planes unlike at the Dayton AF museum. The wars are explained really well upstairs in the military history room.

This is a must-see if you have an interest in military history or aviation. The museum has much more than planes via their exhibits. My personal favorite was getting to sit inside the "Spirit of Akron" blimp. It's too bad that the museum is not well-known. Most people I've spoken to who live locally have never heard of it. More publicity is needed for such a treasure!

The museum has an excellant website so I'll leave it it to provide details. Easy to find with good signage. A large complex with numerous buildings that are off limits to visitors and the large hangar and ramp area. Volunteers were very helpful. Not always very knowledgeable about the artifacts but very helpful and motivated. The admission is about $16 with various discounts. Seems like $16 is the price to get in anywhere. Artifacts have been restored to look like famous aircraft. But the only really historic aircraft is a circa 1908 Martin Glider. Twenty + aircraft are displayed outside. Some freshly painted. They won't last long exposed to heat, cold and constant sun. There is a F7U hulk, partially dismantled, that is unique. The museum has a HUGE gift shop. MAPS is a very nice medium sized aviation museum. The staff are a big plus. And the accommodation for young people are great assets.

What a wonderful museum! There is so much to see and read and experience, the planes are as impressive as the indoor displays! Wish we had more time, you’d need at least 4 hours to really see and read it all. Great job!

It's honestly interesting to visit and see all the different displays that they have and read the information about the different planes and pieces of history they have. That being said, it was a little disappointing that some of the platforms to look into the different planes aren't built for larger people, so someone overweight might have to try going up sideways or might not fit at all, as was the case for some people in our group. It's also Disheartening to see most of the areas in the actual planes you can't access the cockpit area or it's entirely ripped out. We had younger kids that wanted to be able to sit in all the cockpits and a lot of them were blocked off or non-existent.

Awesome museum. Excellent staff and if you like airplanes and U.S. war history they have lots of amazing displays. They even have historical items on smaller wars such as Boxer Rebellion, Spanish American War and others. If you're lucky as soon as you walk into hangar a tour guide will start filling you with information from the get go. If there isn't one there, look around and find one talking to other visitors. These men are filled with knowledge and ours was a very pleasant Mr. Eli. Thank you sir we thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

Cannot thank reed kimball enough. It was a rainy day, so a lot of the outside exhibits were closed, but because the rain was clearing up he personally took us outside, and gave us a tour of the entire museum and each plane. My boyfriend and his from are both veterans from NH, and one was just accepted into the pilot program and the tour and day meant the world to us! Incredible museum with so much to see!!! Worth it to have a tour as well, it made the experience so much better! Give yourself the entire day to get through it!

They have lots of war aircraft, plus a gondola from a Goodyear blimp that you can walk through, a F-16, a full mobile medical hospital tent you can walk through and get a true sense of what it was like, and much more. I will be back soon to explore it some more!

Was there for a private event. But there were still the displays inside and planes on the outside. We were free to walk around and look at the different displays. It was so interesting to see the different displays of all branches. It is so worth the price of admission to see. You can also watch the planes depart at the airport next door.

Nice little air museum. Static displays as well as lots of planes to view. My husband wished he could get a peek at the plane they were currently restoring.

This Museum is amazing! It's more than just airplanes it is a history of our involvement in conflicts over time. They have an extensive library and hero displays that shows Ohio's contributions. The thing that makes this museum standout is the friendly knowledgeable staff. A must see place if you are a history buff.

I have meant to visit this place many times since I first discovered it. I finally decided to visit today, and it was really worth the visit. This may not be the largest museum, but it makes up for it in local history and a wealth of personal accounts and information from many veterans and historians. What I enjoyed most was how much the volunteers working here loved to answer questions and give their first hand knowledge of the exhibits. I really enjoyed the exhibit about uniforms throughout military history. Another really cool part of this museum is that quite a few exhibits are hands on, and you can even sit in some of the planes. This museum was overall a very nice museum, and definitely worth the visit, especially if you live in Akron or the surrounding areas. Enjoy an afternoon of learning about aircraft and history with people who love the subject.

Five of us went today, including an eight yr old boy. It was the first time for 4 of us. We were amazed at the extent of exhibits and planes! My grandson read the information available and was impressed with the weapons. He also loved sitting in the planes. I think we were there for two hours and I could have spent another 2 just to thoroughly read everything, but we needed lunch. We will definitely be back!

We had a great time, it was worth the drive!! We were Lucky enough to go on a day that they were having some sort of Veterans Show. There were Historians, Veterans, Venders and Authors. They were selling everything you could imagine, and More!! A great place to take kids, school students and anyone who has an interest in history, war or aviation.

MAPS stands for Military Air Preservation Society. They have many old to antique aircraft. Some restored, some a work in progress. They also have a small but interesting military museum. It is well worth a visit. Look up their web page for more i info.

Any aviation or military history fan will love to visit. Not quite the National Air Museum or the Air Force Museum but a local treat for sure! Dress for the weather, parts of the aircraft inventory is outside.

WOW! What an experience! I had no idea what to expect when we planned a trip to MAPS for my sons 8th birthday. All the pictures online make it look small but don't be fooled, this place is big and comprehensive! Not only do you get to see a bunch of planes and helicopters (some that you can climb in!!), but they also have a fully equipped field medic tent and a weapon/clothing exhibit. Most of the tour guides are veterans and all seemed very nice and happy to be there. Our guide was named Denny (I think!). He had plenty of amazing stories of flying in the same models that are on display in the museum. Thank you to Denny, not only for the fun and informative tour, but for your service to this country! Thank you all again for the wonderful experience! I look forward to coming back again soon!

This place is amazing. I don't think people in this area realize what a gem they have here. The volunteers that work there are so knowledgeable and helpful. Even my 12-year old video game addicted grandson was totally engaged. Highly recommend. Give yourself a few hours to really see it properly.

The MAPS Air Museum has a diverse collection of aircraft and related artifacts spanning the two World Wars and the Cold War. Several of them have been restored while others appear to be awaiting restoration. The volunteers are very knowledgeable and friendly. One can really see the passion they put into the museum. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area and have an interest in aviation.

I MC the Green Area Chamber of Commerce's annual Casino Night fundraiser and this is a fantastic venue for such an event. Rubber City Radio Group also hosts its Hunting, Fishing, and Outdoors Show here in late March each year and the venue works great for that too. The staff is friendly and there is a tremendous amount of military and aviation history from wall to wall. It's a real gem of the Akron area and one that more people should explore.

Love the old planes, my son and I enjoyed climbing in the cockpit of quite a few. Great experience putting your hands on some of these mechanical marvels and the history behind them. Fantastic facility with polite, hardworking and KNOWLEDGEABLE staff! Couldn't believe just how much they new about each piece of equipment. Made for a great afternoon with my son and father.

The people who care for the museum take a personal pride in what they do and shows. The volunteers are extremely knowledgeable about what is displayed. I have studied planes and history for 40+years and it's great that the tour guide still knows alot more than anyone in the tour. I am proud and thankful for these individuals who served our country and love to educate others on our history and the sacrifices by so many. Thank you.
