Excellent exhibits were being shown when we visited (Tiffany was one). Very friendly customer service there too. Picnic tables were outside for seating with outdoor art to enjoy as well. We were happy we stopped.

What a nice hidden gem. Usually, I am racing to or from the ferry in New London but today it was a well-placed stop on my drive. A pause that refreshes while on the road, I spent about an hour and fifteen minutes covering all the exhibits at a medium level of depth. A wonderful, historic building with a nice range of exhibits, I wish I had done this sooner but it won't be the last time. I didn't get to the outside sculptures due to the rain but they looked interesting as well. Thank you

Marvelous gem of a museum. The Google maps directions are screwie, so just follow the local signs

Actually went to see the Sweet Dreams exhibit, which was pretty cool. The desserts looked so real and beautiful. The rest of the museum was small. There were some nice paintings the rest I didn't really care for... which isn't important because everyone's eye is different. Overall it was nice to see the exhibit before it leaves and Tiffany at the front desk was very pleasant and helpful.

Loved this art gallery; it was a perfect way to escape the cold weather and see traditional paintings and sculptures. I loved seeing the beautiful Tiffany stained glass and jewelry on display and learn more about their local history in New London. Must visit if you're a local art fan!

Very nice collection of works of American painters of several generations. Real art as opposed to “modern” art style of some museums.

Both the building and surrounding grounds are exquisite. All floors - there are three stories - are artfully planned. There is an elevator available for visitors with limited mobility. Every wing... and each room is very thoughtfully curated. The Lyman Allyn staff members are attentive and quite considerate.

An absolute gem of a museum. We were lucky enough to catch the final day of a Pamela Zagarenski exhibit. The exhibit on Louis Tiffany was both excellent and extremely educational.

There aren't many "big name" artists' works displayed, there are lots of interesting pieces tied to the history of the area. The main exhibits are presented in chronological order and the placards tell a nice story tracing the evolution of art in America. The special collections were good. We attended on a free day, so that made it even better. This isn't a big museum, but it flaunts what it has!

Totally great place. First Saturdays are completely free and they have kids activities! The only negative I can think of are the overly verbose and jargonized descriptions of the actual paintings(especially the more recent ones). I guess that is to be expected , tho
