I’ve been coming to the outside of SCOTUS for years as a place for silent reflection. But never have I gone inside. Wow! What an amazing building. It’s remarkable to me that this 3rd Branch of US Government was totally overlooked when the US Capitol was built. The Court had to use dark old basement rooms and former senate chambers for decades! (See attached photos) And finally when the land and funding was given to this 3rd Co-Equal Branch, it got buried behind the Capitol structure and the mall. Not a prominent placement like the Whitehouse or Congress.

God did not write the constitution. So God does not give us rights. Laws do not come from the our Christian Bible, or rule by a single religion. When Supreme Court justices start referencing Christian values rather than existing laws to create decisions .. we have gone backward to being ruled by England. Freedom from religion.. because I thought this is still America

This is such a lovely public bathroom! The best one I’ve been to in fact :) I found the bushes and squirrels to be so peaceful while I answered natures call. It’s so upscale that they have people to escort you out of the bathroom! 😻

The Supreme Court of the United States is a breathtaking monument worth a visit. The large colonnades present an imposing view. The tour to the courts is something no one should miss. Centuries of history preserved carefully for posterity. The entry is free and worth every minute you chose to invest in there. A must visit for every tourist visiting Washington DC. This place is accessible through the hop on hop off bus tours too.

I am shocked to note the unprofessionalism of this organization. I was rushed off of the phone. "The Supreme court only takes high profile cases". Please update the court system so that it is easier for individuals to conduct appeals and hearings on their own. Most cases are very important. Ignoring US citizen problems is a violation to our Constitutional rights. Please make the court proceedings more professional and manageable.

It is true, this building the Supreme Court of the United States is the real “Marble Palace”. Excellent architecture and design seen all over. Through wikipedia I learned associate justices make salary of $268, 300 and the chief justice is paid $280,500 per year according to the year 2021. Like any-other county justices are nominated by the president in power and confirmation by U.S Senate. This building is open to the public from 9 AM to 4:30 PM on weekdays and closed on weekends. There is a Cafeteria and a gift shop inside. Visitors can get seated, there are about 240+ seats available.

Nine foot temporary fencing surrounds the building, post-Roe. Pros: separation of powers. Cons: the US Chamber of Commerce plan to replace the free and independent institution that protects the freedoms of American citizens is well on its way to establishing a right-wing kangaroo court.

Free admission. No. Liquid is allowed. I had a bottled water that I just purchase 5 minutes ago, but I had to drink all. Small museum focusing on each judge’s achievement, and little bit of history.

DC is lacking in the public restroom department, so it's really nice to stop by here for all my dropping duce needs. 5 out of 5 stars. Also the judges are really cool. They love dropping duces on Americans.

So we didn’t make it for an oral argument, but there was still lots to see and do. There’s an exhibit on the main level with lots of history on the building and the justices. You can go to the second level and enter the court room and gawk at the high ceilings and important furniture. At certain times of the day you’ll be able to listen to a lecture while sitting in the public seating area. Cool place to visit.

One of the best *gender neutral* public bathrooms I’ve ever had the pleasure of unloading in. I only give it three out of five stars because the toilet paper was too thin… gave myself a little tickle there down under and then had to vigorously wash my hands so I didn’t stink up the tour group. I hope they supply the bathrooms with better toilet paper.

Great run starts point for a national mall run. The Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) is the highest court in the federal judiciary of the United States. It has ultimate appellate jurisdiction over all U.S. federal court cases, and over state court cases that involve a point of federal law.

The Warren Court took seriously the constitutional charge of equal justice under law. The current court is taking ever measure possible to erase that noble sentiment.

This temple of justice is a beautiful piece of classic architecture, just across the the Capitol building. If it is not closed with fencing, definitely go up the stairs and check out the detail and beauty of the main door. Views of the Capitol building from the top of the stairs is incredible through the columns. Two beautiful statutes frame the building. Well worth a visit.

The U.S. Supreme Court is an amazing place. It's really important for American law and has a great building. If you like history or law, you should definitely visit. It's a big part of Washington D.C. and a place where important decisions are made.

We missed the oral arguments but still got to tour the ground. Its the very center of the interpretation of our most important laws and I got the feeling of awe entering here. Many great social decisions were made here. Decisions that make me very proud of the direction we can get to and not the direction we left behind. Even got myself a nice coin from the store.

A very historical landmark, where some of our countries biggest choices in it's history were made.

It's nice to be able to see where the action happens. Be sure to check their website if you are planning to visit as a tourist because the building can be closed. I would have liked to see the cantilevered marble staircases inside.

Impressive! Exploring the public areas of the Supreme Court is an awe-inspiring experience, with its expansive marble hallways that exude grandeur. Inside, you'll find numerous captivating displays and exhibitions, as well as an informative film about the court. There's also a dedicated section honoring the first female Chief Justice. For a deeper understanding of the American legal system, you have the option to book a half-hour talk inside the actual courtroom (please note that photography isn't allowed). This experience was incredibly interesting and greatly contributed to our comprehension of the legal system in the United States. During my vacation, visited most of the favorite landmarks and buildings in DC, and the Supreme Court pleasantly surprised me. It's a place where politics takes a back seat, and you can truly sense the profound weight of justice being administered. Given that not everyone is familiar with the Court's history, the informative yet understated displays provide valuable insights.

There's a lot that the world can learn for this institution. Our Pakistani courts could benefit from the U.S. Supreme Court's emphasis on judicial independence, transparent decision-making, and merit-based appointments. Learning from the U.S. system's commitment to precedent, public transparency, and efficient case management could enhance the credibility and effectiveness of the Pakistani judiciary, fostering public trust and understanding of legal processes.

There’s a free entry on the left of the building (Mon-Fri) if you want to check the inside. Make sure you dont bring a big backpack and/or drinks and food. The main room was closed for maintenance so not much else to see, we stayed for 10 min and got out.

As far as public restrooms go, this one was not that great. Don't get me wrong, the scenery was immaculate, but I just had a hard time figuring out the layout of this toilet.

Only good thing about this place is their large, ornate, gender neutral bathroom. The "justices" (if you can call them that, that work here are liars, corrupted, and do not have our best interest in mind.

Overall: Mediocre, not so old building. Highlights: The public restroom, best place on "the Mall" to take a dump. Tips: Don't leave your drink unattended if Kavanaugh is around.

I really enjoyed going here. My deceased stepmom and my dad actually had a case in this courthouse and won. I was proud to have traveled where my dad and stepmom traveled years ago. It was so beautiful, it made me cry.

One of the best public restrooms. Absolutely no cameras. Privacy is not a concern and security is top notch. One of the most pleasing place to take a "leak". The mints were a pleasant touch next to the urinals.

  • 1/5 Henry B. 1 year ago on Google
Beautiful building but the price is too high. Service is terrible -- they only have 9 staff to make decisions for the whole country. Recommendation to management: try a self-service system -- you could call it "democracy".

Great to visit the Supreme Court if you’re in DC. the entry is not ticketed and there is about 30 min wait to get in
