Totally AMAZING!! We loved our tour guide! Not only was Ashley well versed in the history of Charleston, she was wonderful with her delivery as she kept everyone engaged!! Her four legged bestie, Melody, was such a pleasant, patient, well behaved horse!! Loved all the fun my family and I had during this trip!! It is truly worth every penny!! Also, for those who are HUGE animal lovers such as myself, these horses are treated VERY well!! I was impressed with the Big Red Barn in addition to the breaks and how much the staff go above and beyond to make sure these beautiful animals are well taken care of! I would highly recommend this for anyone interested in the history of Charleston!!

Wonderful carriage ride!! We made reservations and showed up about 10 minutes prior to our time. The host was all smiles and very kind. Right on time we were loaded on the carriage. This was a day tour with other people. Roughly four per row. Our driver was Ian and our horse was Chester. They were both fantastic!! Ian was knowledgeable and included kids at the back, on our tour as he spoke. He interacted well and shared lots of interesting facts about The Holy City. He and Chester had such a fun rapport. Ian shared stories about Chester and you could just tell that Chester had a personality of his own. Loved this tour and would highly recommend it!

This tour is a MUST! I recommend doing it your 1st full day in Charleston. The tour guide gives you so much helpful info—- the history of Charleston, architecture, the best bars, etc. It’s a great way to take pics of the buildings! It’ll really get you excited and ready for the rest of your trip!

We did a private tour with Mark, led by the grumpy-but-reliable Dynamite. Mark did a great job explaining the history of the city and pointing out all the tiny details that make Charleston so remarkable. The barn is nice, there are restrooms and a snack bar, and the staff were all incredibly friendly. You can tell they enjoy what they do. The horses are retired drafts from Amish farms who've been worked too hard and now enjoy strolling around the city at a leisurely pace. Once they retire from Palmetto at around age twenty, they are carefully adopted out to qualified individuals or therapy programs. It's wonderful to know that the animals are actually cared for. We highly recommend Palmetto and will definitely be back.

When my husband and I go to a new area we love to go on tours. We decided to do this tour last minute as we were waiting on our dinner reservations. Honestly, I found this tour fairly boring and I love learning about the history of a town. Not too much to see. We did end up taking our 5 boys on this tour as well. The thankfully did well, but any longer than an hour and it wouldn’t of been good. They said it was boring and didn’t want to go on another carriage tour again. So parents, I would pass on taking the kiddos on this tour. Try a dolphin/shark tooth boat tour instead.

First time in Charleston and I would highly recommend going on the Palmetto carriage tour! We had Fox and Kent and I was very pleased with his knowledge and good suggestions. This tour allowed us to go to great places and also helped with knowing where things are located. We went back all week during our stay. The one thing I would say is to pay more attention to how clean restrooms are. We went twice and restrooms both times were not up to par for my six year old daughter. There was urine all in the floor and back of seat. Other than that the tour it self was great!

Ross was our tour guide, and it was the most informative historical tour I’ve experienced. Can’t recommend enough if you’d like to really experience downtown by carriage. Great rescue program as well so it makes it worth it even more. A must do.

It was chilly & wonderful 🏆. Our guide grew up here & was amazing! We loved his humor as well as all as the history & knowledge he shared! We would highly recommend your business & have done so on FB! We are visiting from Texas! THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES!
