Motion Arts Center is the best place I've found on the Peninsula to learn Latin dancing, from beginners on up. I've been taking group bachata lessons twice a week for 3 months with Jesica, Chris and Ruby, who are all really excellent teachers and make it fun to learn. I've also taken some private lessons with Jesica. Jesica tailors my private lessons to what I want to work on and that has helped me improve a lot. Motion Arts Center has socials a couple times a month. The socials are a relaxed and friendly place to practice what I've been learning.

I came to Motion Arts after recently discovering that I love cumbia. After several failed attempts at learning other styles of dance, I was sure that I couldn't dance. I signed up for a cumbia dance class here purely as an attempt to learn the steps to a genre I loved, but fully expecting to hate the experience and to be even more convinced that formally learning how to dance wasn't for me. I COULDN'T HAVE BEEN MORE WRONG! Tristan and Rhazel welcomed me and the other students with warm energy and enthusiasm. Tristan broke down the steps with fun analogies and in a way that I could *actually* understand. His lightheartedness and humor made learning *fun*, even when my mind was confused as all get out. When I left that first class, I realized I had a smile on my face the entire time. It was *fun*. And I left actually able to remember the basic steps. So I signed up for another, and another, and eventually decided to get a Class Pack of 10 and also taking their Merengue class. Every time, it was the same- Tristan and Rhazel welcomed me and the others with warm, enthusiastic energy, cheered us on as we made noticeable progress, and encouraged us when we struggled with a step or move, always allowing time for questions and repeated practice. I'm super excited and grateful that I found this place!

I cannot speak highly enough of the tango classes and the exceptional instructors who guided me on this enchanting journey at Motion Arts Center. The instructors, Jesica and Gustavo, demonstrates an extraordinary level of skill, knowledge, and passion for the art of tango. What truly sets them apart is their exceptional ability to break down complex tango techniques into easy-to-follow instructions. They possess a remarkable talent for articulating and demonstrating the subtleties of tango movements, leading to a deeper understanding and appreciation of the dance. Their patience and attention to detail were evident as they provided personalized feedback, ensuring that each student received the guidance necessary for improvement. Overall, I would wholeheartedly recommend the Motion Arts Center and these incredible instructors to anyone looking to explore the captivating world of tango and discover the joy of dance in its purest form.

I've been taking tango lessons with Jesica and Gustavo for 8 years and there is no one else I would trust as my instructors. Not only are they expert teachers of technique, they also teach equally important principles of musicality and the etiquette of social dance. Technical expertise aside, I feel GOOD and I have so much fun when I take classes with Jesica and Gustavo. They are always positive and encouraging which is so important when learning something new. When I was first starting to learn the dance, I became frustrated with myself, but both were always quick to offer guided instruction and build my confidence. 8 years later, I am still learning with each lesson, but I can look back and say they have made me a confident dancer who can dance freely and have fun every time I'm on the dance floor. Any compliments I ever receive I always attribute to them because everything I know I owe it all to J&G! THANK YOU Jesica and Gustavo for providing a comfortable space to grow and learn. It is an added bonus that they have the smoothest floors I've ever stepped on. They take immaculate care of their floor as you can see them constantly cleaning the special hardwood to ensure the best surface for dancing. If you're on the fence, let this be your sign to come on in and take your first class!!

Valuable classroom instruction! I have been taking the bachata classes and am very happy with the teaching quality. Like most schools, the classes will focus at least some part of the day's lesson on introducing and practicing a sequence of moves. However, one thing that particularly impressed me with the Motion Arts Center is how active of a role the instructors take in observing/noticing how exactly the leads perform their movements when practicing a sequence. For example, in one class, Monica stopped group partner practice to do a short deep dive into fixing a bad trend she noticed among multiple leaders where we (myself included!) were poorly signaling a few of our turns. She clearly communicated and demonstrated how to tweak our arm and hand positions, had the class work on those hotfixes for a few minutes, and then moved right back into the original class material. I've taken both the beginner and intermediate bachata classes and seen this level of interaction from every instructor! This level of attention to detail might seem kind of basic, but I've been a student at other dance studios where instructors do not make any effort to provide this level of immediate feedback in a group class setting, instead preferring to just stick to finishing out the lesson. I highly recommend the Motion Arts Center!

Gustavo and Jesica provide a wonderful experience learning to dance Argentine tango - even for a (formerly) desk-bound engineer. Clearly they know how to dance well, but they also know how to teach well. Their patience seems boundless, they tailor their teaching at a personal level, and the dancing quickly becomes a pleasurable activity. The wide range of lesson types being offered include class lessons, workshops, and private lessons. I've found that each provides a different perspective to learning, and the mixture definitely results in well-rounded learning. Of importance is also the wide range of dancers that come to their classes - this community is essential to make for a pleasant opportunity to meet and dance with a variety of partners. And I am constantly aware of, and appreciative of, the patience of the other dancers for someone such as myself who is definitely needing to learn more. And since Argentine tango can be even more challenging as one gets better at it, I anticipate several decades of continuing to learn and improve. I am pleased to be starting with such high quality training from their studio, so that my journey will be both a pleasure as well as technically well-grounded.

Best dance lesson ever! I had an extremely enjoyable and successful first beginer Bachata class with Jesica Horno as my instructor. Jesica is an extremly competent teacher, who is utmost friendly, patient and motivating. She explains and shows every movement in great detail, and has important tips for the execution. Flaws are immediately detected by her and commented with a smile, so you learn everything right from the start, from the movement to the timing. Nothing feels like a mistake here. After one hour I could do four different rotations, which is just amazing. Even though I was told as a teenager that I couldn't dance at all. Go there and have fun! Thanks Jesica!

If you are looking for great tango teachers, drop in to a class with Jesica and Gustavo. They are amazing. Not only are they world class and US champion dancers, they are knowledgeable and patient teachers. The range of classes covers everything from the basics of posture, walk, and the embrace to the nuances of musicality and artistry. Their successful teaching style is a multi-pronged approach which includes demonstration, practice, questions, and one-on-one feedback. The studio has easy parking, a great floor, good light, and excellent acoustics. The milonga sentimental is fun and welcoming.
