I
had
an
early
Sunday
dinner
at
Joey's
Uptown.
I
chose
to
park
in
the
Galleria
self-parking
instead
of
using
their
valet
service
due
to
a
previous
bad
experience
with
valet
parking.
Upon
arrival,
the
hostess
greeted
me
and
offered
complementary
champagne
while
waiting
to
be
seated.
The
restaurant's
interior
is
quite
dark,
but
the
modern
decor
is
impressive.
Popular
music
played
in
the
background,
and
all
servers
were
dressed
uniformly
in
black,
giving
a
clean
appearance.
Although
it
doesn't
seem
very
kid-friendly,
there
were
many
children
present
during
my
visit.
I
had
a
hearty
appetite
and
aimed
for
the
best
experience
by
ordering
a
starter,
entrée,
and
possible
dessert.
I
started
with
truffle
fries
topped
with
freshly
shaved
Parmesan
and
served
with
ketchup
and
garlic
aioli,
which
were
delicious.
The
crabcake
had
a
nice
crust
and
was
accompanied
by
a
refreshing
radish
salad.
My
friend
ordered
guacamole
and
seared
salmon
sushi,
both
of
which
were
excellent.
The
sushi
plate
lacked
wasabi,
which
we
found
unusual,
but
we
didn't
inquire
further.
Our
waiter
was
informative
and
answered
questions
about
other
diners'
dishes.
Unfortunately,
his
recommendation
of
ravioli
with
shrimp
didn't
suit
my
taste,
as
it
was
too
tangy.
I
substituted
chicken
instead.
The
garlic
bread
on
the
side,
however,
was
amazing
–
fluffy
and
flavorful.
My
friend
enjoyed
her
steak
and
ravioli,
minus
the
shrimp,
although
the
ravioli
were
a
bit
too
al
dente
for
my
liking.
The
music
was
at
the
right
volume
–
audible
but
not
overpowering,
allowing
for
pleasant
conversation.
We
opted
for
dessert,
choosing
the
crème
brûlée
cheesecake,
which
was
not
only
delicious
but
also
came
with
a
special
"Happy
New
Year"
message
as
we
visited
on
New
Year's
Day.
The
prices
were
reasonable
for
the
quality
and
quantity
of
food
we
received,
and
we
left
feeling
satisfied
and
would
consider
returning.
